hi Shaii, I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet in regards to the "remember when the world was so easily" mystery, but, I noticed the guitar player is playing a very particular make of guitar called a Parker. While I'm not sure of the exact model of guitar I believe it would be a rather uncommon instrument for a guitar player in this genre of music. Assuming the band that performs the song is from Calgary and it was aired around 1996 (if i understand correctly) it might be worth a shot to look back at Parker guitar endorsees from Calgary/all of Canada from that time. This could lead to a visual identification of the guitar player and hopefully identifying the song. P.S that guitar is very popular amongst prog metal and virtuoso/guitarhead styles of music
Hey there! I'm part of the team investigating "World Was So Easy" on Reddit and the FMM Discord. We've determined, in fact, that it is specifically a 1993 Parker Fly guitar. Unfortunately scouring the internet for endorsees & players of the Parker Fly from 93 - 96 has led to no results.
@@PersonOfDistraction I will start looking and see what I can find. I'm from western Canada and involved in the music scene here and will ask around. I'm hesitant to say this but, the guitar player looks very familiar but I could be mandella manifesting the memory out of optimism.
Hey Shaii! I'm the current owner of the There's a man subreddit! I was happy to see you had the song in the video, I really hope this video attracts attention to the search. For some good news in it, we already have a few leads, and, all of the mods from DFHAD are also mods on the TAM sub, which is very hopeful because DFHAD ended up being found!
So, the story to "There's a Man" (which has been identified as "Man on a Hill" by The Defended) is that the whole thing about the song being lost was a promotional stunt by the looks of it, mainly given how the Spotify page for the band used to mention that they were waiting to be discovered and also now currently mentions the lost song specifically.
15:21 Hey there!!! Thank your for featuring my comment! :D I'm not sure how helpful my speculations for lostwave songs are, but I try to help as much as possible :)
"The World Was So Easy" is when a something sounds so familiar and generic that it became a needle in a haystack amongst many other very similar songs. It's just harder to track down songs that sounds very similar to one another and I have stumble across this issue mixing up so many songs before because of this. So many songs sharing similar lyrics, melodies and beats. It's easier to find the song if it had an official music video attached to it unless it too is lost or uses many common popular visual tropes. However it's even more difficult if only one second loop is found and rest is lost.
The MP3 player almost certainly was an iPod Nano - the 16:9 screen one from about 2009ish. I had one and it was quite unique in that it allowed you to record off of radio (not an advertised feature, to my knowledge - it was kind of fiddly but it allowed you to save the songs under a folder for that station and then synced it to iTunes to see if it could find more info about the song, but some songs wanted you to buy them - my library was almost entirely songs that did not require it) and had a massive selection of radio stations to choose from, some that were made specifically for Nano listeners. I remember one station I listened to all the time being ran by two guys in a dorm in the north of England, specifically off of a laptop, and they played a LOT of music like that, but it was all British, so this song wouldn't have been on there. I had a massive library of songs just from the various stations I was able to pick up. I'm so angry that it's broken now (spicy battery situation) and has been since like 2011ish, or I'd totally dump the songs off of it.
Based on the acoustics of "There is a man", it's a live recording in a small room. So most likely a jam session recording. It's possible the song wasn't ever on the radio.
It was common back then (and even now sometimes) for local or up-and-coming bands to play their demos on local/small radios. I think it was probably a demo and the band landed some sort of deal to get it some air-time, obviously as promotion to gain some traction. Unfortunately, the band might've broken up or gotten nowhere after that, which is why it's hard to track down.

It doesn’t sound like it was recorded in a studio, seems homemade. This station probably picked it up from MySpace. Sadly many songs like this were lost forever once MySpace shutdown. I also disagree with this being made in the ninetees. Its closer to 03-05, there was a lot of pop rock that sounded like this at the time.

i absolutely love the visuals and vibes of your videos, its so cool how well you replicate the feeling of like... old internet/media? down to the fuzzy and low res visuals. it's very cozy and fun to see and i rly appreciate that abt ur videos. love ur stuff man ^_^
Dunno if anyone's pointed it out, but the guitar the guy is playing looks like a Parker Fly, they have a pretty unique look to them. That could potentially narrow it down a lot as it's not a common instrument in Country or Folk genres at all. It's possible he was using it as the *are* known for having good Piezo pickups that produce acoustic sounds, which would be useful in the genre, which might further narrow it down as not all models in the 90s would have had that.
Same, I didn't expect it to be such a banger! It feels oddly nostalgic. You know what it kind of reminds me of? Scooby Doo music but like, in the best way possible lol.
@@nicholasharvey1232 I know, right? I presumed after listening to it first time that I believe it came from NZ since I can barely detect the kiwi accent from the lead singer.
i have always wanted someone to talk about the “There’s a man” song as i’ve been intrigued about the song a while now and wished it had more traction 😭🙏 hopefully with this video it helps to get more people looking into this case! EDIT: IT HAS BEEN SOLVED! Thank you so much Shaii for bringing more attention to the song! (The Defended - Man On a Hill)!
"There's a man" sounds an awful lot like a garage band that a friend of mine in high school (2000-2004) was guitarist and vocalist for, but the vocals in the track are definitely not him. Could have been their second guitarist singing though, since I didn't know that guy. Anyway I reached out and we'll see what he has to say, but I'm not counting on anything.
Wow! That’s crazy! I can’t believe you found them! In all seriousness though. Which is your favorite out of the two? Mine is for sure Man On A Hill. It’s such a bop and it’s probably one of my top ten favorite Lostwave songs.
The song is probably from the guy's band, is pretty raw and the quality from the recording is too good for it to be a mp3 player recording a radio station
"The world was so easy" singer sounds fleetwood mac like to me. Not stevie, the other one. Just recently discovered "Everyone Knows That", as well. The hunts are fun, but also gets a little disheartening, because the people they contact that are potential leads for the songs get bombarded by ravenous individuals
Oh my god I really fucking need the band behind There's a Man, I'd love to listen to the rest of their music. Also your editing style is always a massive treat, absolutely love the aesthetic of your vids.
Not sure if this is a lead but one comment said the singer of the third song sounded australian, well to me it sounds very much like the band Jet, not just the voice but the guitar as well, if it's not Jet it's definitely someone trying to sound like Jet, by the way Jet is an Australian band. If you want an example of how close it is, just look up the song "Times like This" by Jet.
The "There's a Man" song sounds very late 90s to mid 2000s pop rock to me. The rhythm reminded me of "Estoy Enfermo" by Pignoise, a 2008 spanish song. And he singer's accent reminds me of that guy from The Rasmus. I love the song, have many theories about it. It's the kind of music I'd listen as a teenager. Would love to hear the full thing someday...
Every time I watch a video like this I see something that is objectively not creepy or scary in any way, yet there's always creepy ambiance music accompanying it.
Oohh I can kinda see Voltaire with the lyrics, it really reminds me of Hoosier (which was pointed out already) and a little bit of The Fratellis (the Chelsea Dagger guys) by how they sound. Genuinely hope this song gets found, its wayy too interesting to be lost!
I live near a college with a music production program, so I get CDs at thrift stores all the time from unknown local bands trying to make a presence. That’s what a lot of these “lostwave” tracks are. I think the best bet is for someone like me to stumble upon them and put it out there
What a coincidence that I found There's a Man a couple weeks ago while I had the Flu and now I'm seeing it here, too. It's seriously a banger, I've listened to it almost daily ever since.
Very good video can't wait to see the next one. Ngl every video you made like the videos back then or the videos today they're all bangers. Every single one.
Wouldn't it be easier at thus point to try to identify the guy playing guitar in the "world was so easy" Clio. I bet he would have something to add to this mystery
We've been trying! Unfortunately the era is full of people like Raul Malo or Dan Hill that look very similar to the guy. We love any suggestions, though!
for some reason every time I hear your voice now, all I can think of is encarnation bechaves. that aside, I like your stuff because I love mysteries and I always keep hoping for something to come up that I would know the answer to.

Yooo I caught this within one minute of its being uploaded! Love this stuff. I have a sis who listens to country music-if I remember next time I see her, I’ll show her the first entry here and see if she recognizes it.
There's a song I heard on the radio probably about 10 years ago (although the song seemed old at the time) that I've never been able to find again. The only part I remember is: "So I'll pack my bags and hop on a train Cause a fair weather friend ain't no good in the rain." It was a kind of country, twangy banjo song from what I remember. Wish I could find it again!

I've never been interested in lostwave before, but holy cow, There's A Man is really good Hope answers are found one day! Also being driven crazy because I've heard a very very similar song before, the intro specifically, and cannot remember what. It had a Beatles vibe to it? (Wasn't Golden Touch)

I wonder how many people are out there writing original songs that sound old, posting them somewhere as lost media with a backstory half believable? Probably a lot.
If the second song was recorded from a radio station like terrestrial radio it could be a live radio studio performance as it does sound like how old 90s radio show like Howard or KRock shows would bring bands play in the studio. If it's more like Satellite radio style it was recorded from it sounds like it an "acoustic" version. Sirus/xm station due play alot if acoustic version of songs. If it's a demo that is one of the best demos I've ever heard.
I instantly loved the last song. So I was very happy to check the comments and see it had been found. It's like.. The exact genre/type of music I listen to lol
you know those guys who upload every single day inspired me to do one of my own, i dont upload it, but I have been going and getting milk at precisely 11:00 PM every single night until my parents find out, this has been going for about 3 years now and now I am 17 and planning on moving out at most 19 so they have at most 2 years until I am doomed to have to go and get a cup of milk every single night at 11 until my inevitable death, after which if there is an afterlife I will just have to drink milk at 11 for the rest of time.
That first one was very interesting. Searching for it yields no results at all, I can barely find any information about NCN. As a country fan, the song must be found! To think that if all these different lost songs weren't randomly/accidentally recorded, they would've faded away, truly being stuck in time.
We've done a lot of work on the subreddit and FMM Discord. I found several people who worked at NCN at the time, including the programming director. Unfortunately, none of them were able to ID this song! But yes, most records of NCN even existing are thanks to archives of a magazine called RPM Magazine.
@@PersonOfDistractionI commend the efforts of your team and just how much work has gone into finding this song. So unfortunately that nothing can be found!

That final song sounds so much like the band Ludo. If it had a section where the singer just started telling a long, descriptive story instead of singing, I'd be convinced it was them.
I remember being so excited to play the adventure update and typed in gargamel to play on that seed only to find it was different, so I made a new world and typed the seed in again making sure to spell it perfectly but found the same again. After this I thought I might have forgotten how to spell it so I copied and pasted it from a youtube video's description and thought I was going crazy when it didn't work again, I only realised that the seed generation had changed when a friend at school mentioned it weeks later

I know that the investigation guys have probably already thought of this but could the World Was So Easy have been part of a local commercial? One thing I have learned from watching VCR Party is that there are companies that specialize in creating jingles for local businesses and to my untrained ear it has a bit of a ‘local store jingle’ quality to it
Part of the World Was So Easy investigation team here. We did consider this, but the presence of the network logo in the corner indicates this isn't an ad (and we confirmed with people that worked at NCN, their network logo wasn't present during commercials.)

I also disagree with this being made in the ninetees. Its closer to 03-05, there was a lot of pop rock that sounded like this at the time.
Salad guy is awesome
Also your video is awesome as well! Haven't heard of most the stuff in it, unlike most videos like this that use the same entries all over again
i absolutely love the visuals and vibes of your videos, its so cool how well you replicate the feeling of like... old internet/media? down to the fuzzy and low res visuals. it's very cozy and fun to see and i rly appreciate that abt ur videos. love ur stuff man ^_^
Dunno if anyone's pointed it out, but the guitar the guy is playing looks like a Parker Fly, they have a pretty unique look to them.
Looks like someone beat me to this and posted on the Parker Fly forums - someone pointed out the white nut means it's specifically a '93 Fly.
Yeah, I asked the people on the Fly Clone message boards and they identified it as being from 1993.
that "THere's a man" song is like probably my favorite lostwave song ever! it goes so hard! FUCK it needs to be found now!
Reminds me a little of "Counting the Beat" by the Swingers (NZ band, 1980s)... wonder if it could be that band.
ABSOLUTELY 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍
Same, I didn't expect it to be such a banger! It feels oddly nostalgic. You know what it kind of reminds me of? Scooby Doo music but like, in the best way possible lol.
@@nicholasharvey1232 I know, right? I presumed after listening to it first time that I believe it came from NZ since I can barely detect the kiwi accent from the lead singer.
It kinda reminds me of the old albums of Green Day for some reason. The song its so good, I hope people can find it so we can listen to it :-D
2:24 OH LOOK GARY THERE I AM!
Alright, in all seriousness. Pretty surprising to be featured in one of your videos.
It is he. He is here!
Honestly though, I had a chuckle scrolling down and seeing your comment
Thank you, dude. Excellent video! Congrats on your channel blowing up!
I heard that first song lyric as "even though the world was so easy."
i have always wanted someone to talk about the “There’s a man” song as i’ve been intrigued about the song a while now and wished it had more traction 😭🙏 hopefully with this video it helps to get more people looking into this case!
Man, thank you so much for using my track bro🙌🙏 it honestly really means a lot ❤️
I found the song's. Your Welcome
3:00 "Big Picture - Just Passin By"
11:40 "The Defended - Man On A Hill" (There's A Man)
Wow! That’s crazy! I can’t believe you found them!
In all seriousness though. Which is your favorite out of the two? Mine is for sure Man On A Hill. It’s such a bop and it’s probably one of my top ten favorite Lostwave songs.
@@DukLoverEKT My favorite is definitely Just passin by. It's such a nostalgic sounding song♥️
I cant believe that the "World was so easy" song got identified! Its such a shame that more unsloved mysteries across the internet havent been solved😕
It has been found and they have a few other songs and they all go pretty hard
@@atonedudeatsnotsubscribed8313 oh hell yeah this kicks ass, thanks for letting me know
Not sure if this is a lead but one comment said the singer of the third song sounded australian, well to me it sounds very much like the band Jet, not just the voice but the guitar as well, if it's not Jet it's definitely someone trying to sound like Jet, by the way Jet is an Australian band. If you want an example of how close it is, just look up the song "Times like This" by Jet.
I love that you included a clip of Rotting Christ at 12:18 - one of my all-time favourite bands.
The intro of the last song sounds almost identical to "Golden Touch" by Razorlight. Sounds really good, hope its found
Same thoughts!
Dude . Where are you people getting that from?! It sounds NOTHING like Golden Touch.
@@Aromatic.Bleach I mean the intro really does, not the rest of the song. Both are different great songs.
Every time I watch a video like this I see something that is objectively not creepy or scary in any way, yet there's always creepy ambiance music accompanying it.
11:44 is “man on a hill” by the defended 👍🏽
God I love how you just get into it with no intro or rambling nonsense. Keep up the great work! Always keeps me entertained with unique entries
I love how he also doesn’t make the media overly creepy. Just cool lost stuff lol
"there's a man" gave me voltaire or simple plan vibes tbh. definitely agree that it's ska-adjacent, but maybe it's more 2000s than 90s
I think the best bet is for someone like me to stumble upon them and put it out there
One that I listen to all the time, it’s my personal treasure, Julius bragg - where you hide. Some tracks are on RUclips under another album
This might be one of my favorite channels on RUclips right now, your stuff is great!
Your style and thumbnails specifically are incredibly evocative
the whole thing of someone vlogging everyday for years is fascinating. one of my favorite youtubers is Stephen Georg, who does exactly that on his channel StephenVlog
The only part I remember is:
"So I'll pack my bags and hop on a train
Cause a fair weather friend ain't no good in the rain."
It was a kind of country, twangy banjo song from what I remember. Wish I could find it again!
About that song - could it be maybe a demo from The Hatters band? The sound goes similar but with different vocals. Also sound like katzenjammer
My favorite "every day" gimmick is the daily half life 3 update guy (even if its more a twice a week update now). there has been no news for 1983 days :(
I really LOVE your videos your effort you put into them like the aesthetics of old internet your calming voice and research of your videos, the channel is pure GOLD
WORLD WAS SO EASY HAS BEEN FOUND!!!
Where
@@felipetheman7449the song is called Big Picture - Just Passin’ By
You deserve ATLEAST a million subscribers!! I love your videos , it’s always something new & fresh, not the same old thing that 10+ RUclipsrs have already covered!!
I love your videos so much they’re always perfectly made and your voice is really relaxing to listen to :D this one in particular was rlly interesting
I've never been interested in lostwave before, but holy cow, There's A Man is really good
Hope answers are found one day!
Also being driven crazy because I've heard a very very similar song before, the intro specifically, and cannot remember what. It had a Beatles vibe to it?
(Wasn't Golden Touch)
Ummmm wtf why does his basement look 100% exactly like mine?? Literally the placement of the windows and floorboards r exactly the same, I’m scared 5:45
Because It is your basement
11:38
This song literally just sounds like the Give me Your Brains song from that Billy and Mandy Halloween special, lmao
Users uploading onto RUclips everyday for years: Jon Drinks Water fits this criteria, although he doesn't upload too much anymore. But there's thousands of videos of himself drinking water on his channel.
The frutiger aero intro is fire 🔥
I wonder how many people are out there writing original songs that sound old, posting them somewhere as lost media with a backstory half believable? Probably a lot.
I love these videos so much, seeing them pop up in my notifications makes my day lol
That "there's a man" song is great! I love the lyrics too. I hope it gets found and identified.
I instantly loved the last song. So I was very happy to check the comments and see it had been found. It's like.. The exact genre/type of music I listen to lol
In that clip, I hear "I remember when the world was so easy, and" or "I remember when the world was so easy, then"
I love your editing style and presentation, that was great.
You've got a new fan. Great job on this
you know those guys who upload every single day inspired me to do one of my own, i dont upload it, but I have been going and getting milk at precisely 11:00 PM every single night until my parents find out, this has been going for about 3 years now and now I am 17 and planning on moving out at most 19 so they have at most 2 years until I am doomed to have to go and get a cup of milk every single night at 11 until my inevitable death, after which if there is an afterlife I will just have to drink milk at 11 for the rest of time.
"hey bro, wanna go get lunch?" "Nah man, I had my mr.beast for the day thanks"
I really like that song at 12:00
Just as an update if you didn’t know, it’s Man On A Hill by The Defended. I know the update is in the top comment, but I didn’t know if you knew it was found. It’s an awesome song
The last song you discussed reminds me a bit of a band called the Ideamen. Its probably far fetched but they gave me a similar vibe
That final song sounds so much like the band Ludo. If it had a section where the singer just started telling a long, descriptive story instead of singing, I'd be convinced it was them.
I think the song says: "when you think of the word love so easily"
So glad There's a Man has been found! It's a banger
Love the VHS intro here
Awesome stuff Shai 👏
4:27 I heard it as “I never knew the world was so easy” but I guess that doesn’t make sense lol
I was entirely expecting there to be a low res explosion gif when the plane flew into the camera in the intro
12:35 the song is man on a hill - the defended
yet another shaiivalley banger! hopefully with more exposure on some of the mysterious songs, we'll all finally get some closure :^)
thank god you switched it up. thanks for this video ❤
The algorithm gods put your video in my feed and now you have earned your subscription +1. Great video. Keep it up and your channel shall grow along with your subscribers.
12:37 song?
Man On A Hill by The Defended
@@DukLoverEKT I mean the background song, the name is Neon Breeze by Karl Casey
@@OmarFarrag I’m slow💀
