There may be dit and built up grease in the gear box that draws more current than usual. It seems that gear box and decoder work fine. So what I would suggest is to take out the gearbox and thoroughly inspect it and clean it and lube it again.
Oddly enough, but the main reason for the horizontal engine is not only the magnet or the weak contact of the sensor cable, but the fact that the gear that rotates the horizon has broken gear gear. And this is not an isolated case. The gear in the gearbox is broken and the entire horizontal motor needs to be changed.
it is this engine that often has a breakdown .. and gives the error that you write about. motor: sweep & elevation (grand + phenom) Regular price $68.00
Helpful video. Hey Duncan, I am experiencing the same exact problem and going to try the magnetic proximity switch any chance you could tell me which one u purchased or link the switch? Thanks.
Thanks for all the feedback. At the end of the day, I only had to buy a NEW MAGNETIC PROXIMITY SWITCH (not the magnet, which, as you can see in the video, works). Once the new magnetic proximity switch was fitted it ran perfectly ..... until the PCB decided not to work some time later and I had to send the whole machine to Apollo Leisure**, at great expense, to have a new one fitted. I've had no trouble since; except I would not recommend using the machine in damp weather, as the balls jam the machine - not a good idea! **Reference: Apollo Leisure, Unit 1 Forest Cl, Ebblake Industrial Estate, Verwood GB-BH31 6DE Telephone 01202 812000 from UK or +44 1202 812000 from outside UKr switch was fitted it ran perfectly ..... until the PCB decided not to work some time later and I had to send the whole machine to Apollo Leisure**, at great expense, to have a new one fitted. It's happened again ... so I'm off to buy a new magnetic proximity switch. Quite expensive for what it is, and it has only lasted a year. I'll do another video of me changing it.
Dear Duncan, I had the same problem with my machine Lobster Grand IV- try removing the serve wheels, the electric motors can fill vibrations if the wheels are unbalanced and it will fail to start. Did you fix your machine?
Yes! That's exactly how my machine behaves for like 6 months and neither service man in Poland nor me can't find the cause. Did you made it - do you know what's the problem?I checked almost every part, replaced sweep engine due to the damage caused by stopping the wheel at the bottom of Lobster on its metal base. My team tried nearly everything, sometimes (we call it "magic moments") Lobster works, but at the turning-off sequence of movements it breaks again. Can you help somehow, please?
Thanks for the video! Ours is doing the same thing. Your comments are lots of help. Where did you buy the magnetic switch. I’m not seeing it on lobster parts list
Good video although confusing at first. You could explain it a little more detailed but I had to watch it again and experience the problem myself to understand it. Mine is a new unit - top of the line the Elite Grand V LE edition for $3k USD. So such an expensive item, I’m surprised it broke within 2 mins of testing it and customer service is telling me to do this and that without much help. Still the same frustrating issue. For $3K, I’m wondering if people should all stop buying lobster machines in general. Not sure about other brands but this machine feels cheaply made. For $3K and all this maintenance trouble shooting I wonder if it’s at all worth it.
It is quite fragile at the end of the day. An absolute must NOT is: NEVER use in damp conditions, not even the tiniest amount of dew on the court. The balls jam and the Lobster isn't strong enough to cope with the load.
I have the same problem! My conclusion is that you do not have to buy a device if you do not have service. The manufacturer is in the USA and has no service for Europe. So don't buy if you are in Europe !!

Eventually sent it to Apollo Leisure, who have replaced the whole control panel as well as the battery, which had damaged cells.
Not cheap!
Can someone please tell me where to get the magnetic switch from? I have searched high and low for it

Runs perfectly now.

Paweł Cieszko It is the magnetic switch that needs replacing. Only takes a few minutes once you've bought one.
