The music in Rusty Ruins Act 2 (Saturn version) is my favorite Sonic music of all time!

You know a sonic OST is good when you actively avoid power ups just to keep the music playing. Exactly why the genesis version and especially the Saturn OST is some of the best music in the series.
Been playing since I was 5. I'm 20 now, and still playing (albeit on an emulator) because I sold my Genesis (Sonic 1, 2, 3, S&K, 3D Blast)/Sega CD (Sonic CD)/32X (Chaotix) systems/games and my Saturn (Sonic R, 3D Blast). I sold my Dreamcast (Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Sonic Shuffle). When I bought a Gamecube, I got SADX and SA2B, then continued into Heroes, Shadow (a HUGE disappointment, guns are a no-no), Unleashed (Wii), Secret Rings, Black Knight (swords are a yes!), '06, now onto Generations.
That would work. Unfortunately, many Sonic fans disown 3D Blast Saturn because of it being a port rather than an entirely new game. I grew up with the Genesis version, but truth be told I find this version just as good. Richard Jaques (spelled correctly?) did a fantastic job with the new soundtrack, and I welcome the improved graphics. However, ports in general don't get very good press (I believe the term is "shoveling", of which the Sega CD is infamous for) unless the new content is better.

Since Jun Senoue composed most of the music for the Genesis version and later composed the soundtrack of Sonic Adventure some Genesis tracks appeared:
Windy Valley Part 3: Green Grove Act 1
Twinkle Park Part 2(?): Panic Puppet Act 1
The funny thing I found was that both levels using the Saturn tracks I mentioned above in Generations involve something with Knuckles:
Green Hill Zone Race (Classic): Super Sonic Racing
Sky Sanctuary treasure hunt (Modern): You're My Hero [instrumental]
They did feature several tracks from the Saturn 3D Blast:
"You're My Hero [instrumental]"
Diamond Dust [extra content unlocked by ringing a bell above the challenge gates)
I actually envisioned a Saturn era area (rather than jump straight to Dreamcast) which would contain both 3D Blast and Sonic R themed levels. The problem is finding a boss for Saturn and porting modern Sonic to an isometric themed level layout. Scratch that. Adapting an isometric game to side scrolling or full 3D would be hard
You can't get the EMERALDS faster because the Saturn version only allows you one special stage per level in which you can get a Chaos Emerald. The other special stage in the level will just give you an extra life. The Genesis version allows you to get Chaos Emeralds from both Knuckles' and Tail's special stages, thereby allowing faster emerald gathering. Do your research before you criticize someone's playthrough.
I want a Sega Saturn with this. :D
sonic generations could have fitted this in,,, they should have done level choice by acts... act1 green hill act 2 angel island, act 3 azure coast, 1ct 1 marble zone act 2 rusty ruin act 3 lost world. wacky workbench act 1 , gene gadget act 2 scrap brain act 3 , hydrocity zone act 1 , tidal tempest act 2 labrynth act 3 example .. how good would that be.
This game hurts my head it makes me get a headache
I have to say that was the the ruins boss is a let down.

ahh yeah lol. generations best sonic game for long time my favourite is sonic cd always will be. you got lots of knowledge on sonic games
easy for saturn boss ... volcanic valley that would be amazing in generations steez.
level selection rusty ruin, gene gadget and regal ruin with volcanic valley boss.
Wooooww. The Saturn version was so much better than the pc version. I don't remember the bonus stage being this damn cool!
The Saturn/PC versions certainly made it better, then. :)
@fnfnc223 correction; MOST (not all) of the games graphics are still beautiful by today's standards.
