All My HELLDIVERS!! Like this comment if you fight for Democracy and SUPER EARTH!!!
How 'bout a nice cup of LIBER-TEA?
SPREADING LIBERATION TO THE GALAXY, WHETHER THEY WANT IT OR NOT! #Artax
I'm doing my part... ahahahaha.. t Jane's Ryu/Ken reference " Haduuuuukiid".. lol .. luv the StarTrek then StarWars references throughout.. I was 16 when this first came out and I didn't really understand it till much later.. lol😅
For Democracy!! For Super Earth!!!
I play helldivers on ps5, liked the first one. Really like the sequel
"Mobile Infantry made me the man I am today." In the book, he actually does have prosthetic legs and gets around fine but part of his job is to scare away candidates that aren't committed enough to risk that possibility.
Yeah. cause the movie is actually a fascism and military satire - the novel is more complicated ;)
To be fair, the novel is from an American in the 50s, the movie from an Dutch guy that literly survived a fascist regime from basicly my own country^^
I prefer Verhoeven's take on this ;)
Favorite fact on this movie. The guy that died in the training accident married the actress that shot him. In this world, cupid shoots an automatic rifle!
Wasn’t the last time she blew his mind. 😊
"Mine is Beautiful... You need to spend more time down there..." LOL
Dizzy dying is the single worst OH NO!!! moment in movie history. Yes, that’s a hill I will die on.
I respect that your willing to die for that. For me it will always be the kids in star wars episode 3 iykyk
In the book, Dizzy is a guy.. and, dies in the 2nd chapter.
@@FosterTravis1071 ok that has nothing to do with what the person said
"It's OK, because I got to have you" 😭😭😭
More like the most forgettable moment in movie history.
This movie never gets old. Always a top favorite.
true but the other two films are best forgotten.... boy are they a let down XD
@@mercurioslevin1877 yeah I'll agree there. Two mostly because it was too serious. Three at least introduced the mechs from the books lol.
- It's like yours
- mine is beautiful
~ Do not let your kids watch this! ~
You two are hilarious. Thanks.
And then Jane right after "IS IT IN? IS IT IN?" I am DECEASED lololol
Yeah that killed me lol
You forgot when she said "you need to spend more time down there" 😂😂
The actor who played Rico is the father of Grace Van Dien from Stranger Things (Chrissy)!
CHRISSY WAKE UP!!!
Hello Justin & Jane!😊 This is actually part of the Paul Verhoeven unofficial trilogy. Verhoeven made three futuristic violent films. The first is "Robocop" (1987). The second is "Total Recall" (1990). This is the third film. You can clearly see Verhoeven's style and progression in all three films. You guys should check out the other two films together to see what led up to this film.😉 Verhoeven's earlier films are more practical effects than CGI. Earth is actually the ones that started the war here. They created a colony on a planet that the bugs had already settled. A "Jar Head" is slang for a Marine. A Klick is one kilometer in military terms. Great reactions to this great entertaining space film, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
If you watch carefully, you can clearly see that Earth didnt start the war. The "Mormon Extremists" (fun) settled on a planet that the government warned them about was on the bug side. They didnt listen. They got chopped up. Even if it was terrible, the war didnt start there either. The war started after the bugs attacked Earth with the asteroid that flattened Buenos Aires. After that the earth forces thought that the best defense was an offence on Klendathu, that ended up a failure. :)
Cheers.
"It's like yours"... and with that, Justin slept on the couch for the next three weeks. lol
Helldivers 2... yesssss! for SUPER EARTH!
🫡
Gamers 🙄
I'm doing my part! 🫡
Clancy Brown has been absolutely in everything!
"There can be only one"
This movie had a low budget, yet they pulled so many known Celebrities into it, CG was really impressive for it's time (better than we're getting now), and the visual/practical effects were fantastic!
No low budget,it cost-100 milion dollars to make.
C/b rated cast
If may be low Budget, but it’s Amazing
@@sonofkarma5461 Low budget ??? It cost 100 million dollars to make.
@@user-be7tc2bd6e the highest a movie budget can go is 20 billion
Not too many people remember Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles. A very underrated animated series.
Ive Got them on DVD.
14:48, as many folks will mention the actress playing the girl who washed out wound up marrying the guy she accidentally ended. They met on the set of this movie and have been together even since. That has got to make for a seriously funny “How I met your mother story”
"They only made one." They made five. They're all awesome.
I love them both (this is, like, the only reaction channel I actually watch), but this one more than most really tells me they really only watch certain kinds of movies. Like, modern mainstream movies, mostly. Which is good for a reaction channel, but terrible for if you otherwise actually want to engage with the art (I doubt they watch any movies outside of the channel, which I get because they have a kid, but I still don't like that). I think the channel is actually actively getting in the way of them engaging with it as an art, so I obviously don't think they'll actually change that, I get it. I just find it kind of sad.
21:52 Watched this movie with a friend of mine who used to be in the VA. Upon seeing Rico being mistakenly labelled as KIA, I asked him if this kind of thing happens and he he only said, "Yeah, it happens."
My DAD recently passed . This was one of the last movies we watched together. we loved it, seeing use watch this just made my day ❤
We are so sorry for your loss, Brandon. xo
fav movie since I was a kid. love your reaction!
I´ve seen in loop "make it twenty minutes" many times from a lot of reactors haha. Legendary line.
it's so crazy watching this and knowing Rico is a Star Ship Troopers Legend
I'm doing my part for SUPER EARTH!!! Rock on! And thank you for doing your part and saluting our heroes for managed democracy by spreading Helldivers recruitment far and wide!.
The term "Jarhead" is the nickname other branches of the service call the Marines (In addition to "Leathernecks" and "Devil Dogs"). A few nicknames for the other branches are ..... NAVY = "Swab-O" or "Swabby" (Shipboard, they always seemed to have a mop in their hands, swabbing the decks), and "Squids." ARMY = "Dog Faces," "Grunts," "Pukes," "Bullet Stoppers," and "Bush Beaters." My AIR FORCE = "Flyboys," "Airheads," "Bus-Drivers," (In reference to our blue uniforms), "Chair Force" (Because we had chill/easy jobs, compared to other services), "Wingnuts," and "Zoomies."
“RICO’S ROUGHNECKS!!”
Hwah!
As someone who saw this in theaters when I was only 11-years-old and adored the movie, it's so funny watching grown adults wince and look away at the gore and violence.
In fairness, I was obviously raised on gruesome horror films from a young age, but it always makes me giggle watching people struggle to get through this. lol
- You wanna live forever?!
- Well... if I can.
I still laugh at how she forgets her injury at the end of the movie. It's just so ridiculous.
Haha
One of my favorite movies!
35:00, ,actually there are some live action sequels to this movie. One of them actually has Casper Van Diem (Rico) in it.
One of my biggest comfort movies.
i have seen this when i was 12 in a drive in theater, i loved it.. still do.
I love this movie, saw it for the first time when I was young. Fun fact, the guy & girl involved in the training incident scene got married shortly after this film and are still together to this day!
One of my absolute favorite movies to rewatch…Great reaction too!
I love this movie franchise, it’s like my Star Wars, but the way they react to all the violence is just hilarious (especially on 32:45)
You two look ready to sign up! I'm proud of ya's! 😊
i generally watch you two for the emotionally dramatic reactions, but you guys had me laughing. thank you for the laughs.
"Right in the pooper!" I loved yalls reaction. The movie was wild af.
This commentary is just too precious. 32:32
Zander is just the Trevor of that universe-It’s a vibe. 😂
Always been on my TOP 10 list of the best movies ever!
this one of my favorite movies to watch even played the starship troopers game when it came out on pc
"How long's left?" Whoa, sh!t just got real!
Saw this in the movie theatre one of the best B sci fi movies made
29:15 Seen this movie a zillion times, but until you mentioned it, I'd never before picked up that "Doogie" had read Carmen's mind in that scene "you don't approve, well too bad..."
This movie had insane cg for its time!! Brilliant film , democracy never dies
This is actually one of my favorite movies, I consider Roughnecks: Tales of the Starship Troopers is sequel. The visual effects in this movie were very good for the time, and the practical effects were down right ground breaking.
"Is it in yet?"
"Sounds like it's in"
You should know if it's in or not 😂
Yeah, I almost spat my coffee over the keyboard at that. Comedy gold...
Stranger Than Fiction is really good.
My wife had a call back to be in the scene where Johnny and Zander have their no ranks fight but family issues came up and was dropped.
19:52, jarhead is a slang term for Marines. The Mobile Infantry is essentially the Marine Corps (and a little bit of the Army) of the future. Fleet would be the Navy (in space) in the future. Traditionally Navy sailors and Marines don’t get along well.
There is a scene later in the movie in which Rico and Dizzy yell “Hooah” or “Oorah”. These are expressions of enthusiasm for the US Army and US Marine Corps.
I absolutely love this movie, saw it in the cinema, it was amazing on the big screen, i named my first cat Dizzy in memory of Diz.
The teacher in biology class is Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche in The Golden Girls
Two more films in the series straight to video release
Regarding Carmen and Johnny:
As the protagonist in another movie stated, ''Never chase busses or women, you'll always get left behind.''
I read the book by Robert A Heinlein. A major Sci-Fi writer.
The animated show "Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles" is a much better representation of the Novel.
Yes, I agree. Own the complete series in my home DVD collection (smile...smile).
shout out to the effects team for giving us a wide variety of bugs. most sci-fi movies just stick to one alien bodyform.
6:44 In the book, Johnny actually saw the recruiting officer later that same day.
The recruiter had on some great prosthetic legs and a normal looking hand. When Johnny asked why he appeared so shocking at the recruitment center, the officer said “The freak show is to weed out anyone with a weak stomach”.
I mean, the movie is explicitly a critique of the book.
32:17 😂😂😂😂💀💀💀 dam that came out of nowhere
I worked at a movie theater when this came out. 😆
The Bugs are CGI but everything else is practical. The environment, Space ships, landing craft etc are all practical effects.
Speaking of Warp, the woman that says warp appeared in the Star Trek TNG episode *Ethic* as a neurologist attempts to fix Mr Worf's paralysis.
I kept expecting Ace (Jake Busey) to shout "sonic boom!" while clapping.
Thanks for reacting this 🙂 one of my favorite scifi movies. Always nice change to see humans as invading force ( audience yel: are we the baddies ? 😅 ).
...of course, so sad that non of the youtubers have any balls to watch the sequels 😕
Helldivers 2 is awesome its like the terminator and starship troopers had a baby, i stopped playing everything else since i downloaded it
4:12 that is a good one Jane🤣
I used to watch Doogie Howser! 😂😂😂 I wonder if it holds up... I just remember his monochrome computer monitor lol
"I'm doing my part, for Super Earth"
enjoyable movie... I LOVED the book
Well this was randomly playing while I was doing the dishes, I thought the commentary was unintentionally hilarious. With his eurghh arrggh ohhhh and her comments such as right in the pooper and is it in yet, I think it's in and yes it's in I looked. Until I realised my TV was loud enough my neighbours will of heard.
Bro really pulled out the anti material rifle at 2:22 😭😭
Upon first seeing NPH, the fact that Jane immediately said "Doogie Houser" makes this a good reaction.
Spreading democracy and freedom one planet at a time!!
I have all of the Starship Troopers movies on DVD, including the animated movie ❤❤
Man ever since helldivers 2 blew up I’ve been seeing more people react to this movie and it brings me so much joy this movie meant a lot to me as a kid (Ik it’s not kid friendly, times were different back then okay) and I love helldivers 2 for that reason so I’m happy to be able to experience the birth of the game and the exposure starship troopers is getting rightfully so
Completely lost it after seeing the kid soldier😂 forgot about that gem.
did you guys get a new camera? this shot looks amazing compared to old videos
Nice new backdrop guys, improved warmth!
I play it its amazing
Funny thing is that Johnny RIco was supposed to look more like Mark Dacascos or Lou Diamond Philips because the book Johnny Rico was a Filipino who was born and raised in Argentina
When this movie was first being advertised (for like, the first month or so), it was advertised as being rated PG-13. My dad saw those ratings, and decided to take me to see this when I was nine years old, because I had seen Die Hard and Alien, and he thought I could handle it. We got to the theater and they told us it was R, and he was like "Eh, probably not a big deal if it was PG-13 before." I was mentally scarred, lol. I had nightmares about this movie for years. I didn't even watch it again until I was a senior in high school.
This is my favourite movie never gets old and it’s educational on why war is bad but also sometimes necessary. And why physical force is important and leftism is bad
And how valuable things should not be given away for free, because it makes them less valuable.
@@jakubfabisiak9810 that aswell it would be cool if only veterans could vote and have children.
@@khalidbinwaleed5072well the "have children" thing is clearly bullshit line by Verhoven - Heinlein makes it clear that the only difference between civvies, and citizens is the right to vote. Speaking of which - it is explained well enough, that the right to vote is literally a mandate to use force to influence the political process. That is valuable. If it was given to you for free, it would be near-worthless, but if you have to earn it, it is valuable, because you paid for it with blood, sweat, and tears (Heinlein proposes that the cost to acquire something is an integral part of its value).
Voting is a responsibility, only entrusted to those who have earned that trust. And, most importantly, there is nothing that the Federation can do to stop you from becoming a citizen - it is your constitutional right to do federal service and earn your citizenship.
The whole war is uneccesary. How long would a physical rock take to be flung from bug space, several thousand years? Its moving at regular speed relative to their ship
@@christopherbowers7236 in the book, the buhs have normal space tech. Movie just handwaves it.
I liked the little touches of personality like the bully guy seeming like a meathead but he's a skilled violin player
There is numerous Starship Troopers movies.
If you read to book, a masterpiece, this movie angers you for a while. Then you start to find it's own value.
The bug should have sucked out Carmen's brains, then Rico save Zander.
I saw this when it first came out and avoided watching it since due to the gore but I'll watch it again with you guys.
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
In the 90s camera guys weren't invincible yet.
The biology teacher is the same actress that played Blanche in Golden Girls. I just found that out this week.
A "klick" is a military term, used to describe a distance of 1 kilometer (0.69 miles).
"Execution tonight at 6, all Net, all Channels" doesn't mean you CAN watch it, it means you HAVE TO! Just a subtle part of the Authoritarian future the movie depicts that people often miss.
The brain bug is just like a kid with a Capri Sun.
I, for one, loved Doogie Howeer.
A “jarhead” is army slang marines. I'm in my mid 50s and saw the movie when it came out on video and to date I've met two people with those tattoos 19:55
Every time I see a react to this film I cannot help but go "Common you Apes do you want to live forever!?" Proceeds to hit play.
There were 3 live-action films, 2 japanese cgi films, and the roughnecks series that actually draw more from the books the film.
I love the Splinter Cell reference Justin made!! Michael Ironside did Sam Fisher's voice in all of the Splinter Cell games except one
Medic! Mr. Crabs don't be F'ing around, take no prisoners. LOL
just one of the greatest movies ever. Helldivers 2 is amazing. My biggest complaint about the game is that Casper Van Dien does not voice anyone
The CGI movies are really good and worth watching too.
32:32 my eyes were closed when I heard this. Very scarring.
