Looks a lot nicer than most holidays hotels. If you wanted to be in Corralejo in a modern hotel with a balcony you should have booked it. But of course you wouldn't be able to complain about the those things.
The room looks ok to me and finally a decent beach with some sand. Food looks fantastic I could definitely pig out on that 🐷 I can't believe you had baked beans when there was so much else to choose from.

I remember those hotels Lee. When we visited Corralejo on the ferry from Playa Blanca several years ago, we walked along the beach and could see them way off in the distance. They did look like they were miles away 😮. As you say, not too bad if you don’t want to go anywhere else 😊

Very good hotel review, I enjoyed seeing the hotel & food looked good too. Great hearing the staff were great and I agree the room needs a bit of interior re-design, beach location is spot on. This looks the single room, I probably would have asked the hotel to upgrade to a balcony/sea view room 😀
The hotel in all looked decent.. the pool area and eating areas looked okay. The rooms could do with a refurb. I thought the food looked amazing with a lot of selection. And has for a balcony. You would normally see when booking if the room comes with a balcony and if not you should pay for one if that’s what you are wanting so that would be down to yourself imo. But yeah I wouldn’t want to be that far out has you say a little isolated. But for the people that like to stay in the resort or just go to the beach and relax there was nothing wrong with this place at all apart from the rooms could do with bringing up to modern standards.
Just watching with my elderly grandparents, and they’re saying that 20 years ago, riu hotel was rumored to be knocked down then because it didn’t have planning permission x
All the food looked really good, from breakfast to other dishes. Hats off to those hard-working people preparing/cooking the food (and the washer uppers) in the hotel. 🎩 The coffee with your breakfast looked great as well, with no skimping on the milk! 😊
Though I haven't been there for a few years, car hire is a must in Fuerteventura, it pretty much pays for itself due to the distance from the airport and Corralejo. As you say, the best beach is a long way from the town. Great video, thanks.
Balconys are usually extra and usually photos of room etc can be found beforehand. Still I think it's a bit expensive but I would not be crying about it.
To be honest Lee, that food looked pretty damn good to me. Maybe I’m easily pleased but you have a fantastic variety to go for. Apart from an holiday in Malta and our dreaded Turkey holiday last year then your food looks like something I’d be happy with
I know there was no balcony and you were decent enough not to complain but the all inclusive buffet looked nice. As for the toaster I leave that for my wife to get 😆😆😆 I’m normally up with kids getting everyone’s breakfast. Love it when they cook your omelette right in front of you . You whined a lot for being cheap and not getting a room with a balcony. If you had been as cheap with your choice of car, maybe you wouldn't be stuck with that Taycan, standing in the cold for an hour to charge it up. And stop eating beans with breakfast!!!
I stopped AI at the other Riu Oliva Beach for two weeks five years ago and loved it. I think you are right Lee. The Riu Olivia beach hotel which is next door and the sister hotel to this one may have limited time because I believe the Riu group are in a court battle with the authorities because the hotel is situated in like a protected area or some sort of national park etc ? And in the beginning this hotel only had a limited time and I think now they're trying to fight it. This what I was told sometime ago. But I could be completely wrong.👍
20:12 Again, the hotel has an amazing spread of choices for dinner. My issue with buffets, although I do like them, is food wastage. I cannot see how it can't be avoided. Most of the food cannot be reheated and served later.

The RIU Olive Beach was an illegal build so it is due for demolition In February 2024, the Secretary of State for the Environment declared the concession expired and mandated the demolition of the hotel, citing breaches of coastal regulations. I stayed there and it was a nice hotel . It had a gate right on the beach
We stayed there in Oct for 1 week , staff we're great, we asked to be moved up a few floors away from the pool and ended up with a free upgrade to a Jr. Suite Grand Terrace, with wrap around balcony, stunning views of the beautiful beach👍🤣
Lee, We were last there in 2013 & were told the hotel shouldn't have been built due to it being in the area of the dunes, which is apparently a national park. We're flying out there on Saturday 25th for our 34th anniversary 😂😂
Stayed at a RIU palace in Puerto Vallarta and had access to the other 2 RIU hotels down the strip due to having the Palace wristbands. All 3 hotels underwent refurbishment after our visit so I'm guessing yours is down the list to be modernised. Currently scouting Cabo San Lucas on the tip of Baja California as it has 4 RIU hotels (2 palaces, 2 normal) and one of them looks ideal for families with young children.
Did you not choose the standard of room you are in when you booked? Normally I would expect various room options to be available or was your choice driven purely by price. Maybe should have considered the Secrets Bahía Real Resort & Spa instead?
Its hard sometimes to gauge from reviews and staying there is the only way. We loved the Corralejo beach for it's location u cant argue with a walk out the door and theres the beach ❤
Lee, stop repeating yourself, have I already said that? Anyway stop repeating yourself, have I already said that? Anyway stop repeating yourself, onwards.
Hi Lee Corralejo has lots of hotels in town… you booked a remote location and no balcony…. Did you say you were out on a limb with no balcony….. Darren John needs you to visit him and cheer him up 😂😂😂 Love Ian&Jen xx
To be honest sometimes i like a dated spainish hotel there is something nostalgic about it. I like the columns downstairs very 1980s. What I will say though is it needs to be clean and smelling of bleach or disinfectant which you can smell sometimes in these hotel. No awful air freshener though, drity hotels are worse than dated ones.
If they knock it down and build a new one it won’t be just 500 for 5 days the price will be huuuugggeeee. It looks nice down in the restaurant. Great for people to stay for cheap and be right near the beach. I only ever use a hotel for sleeping in. I do need a tele though.
I think you got a real bargain, all meals included, think how much food is in America plus those buffets in Vegas some of them are really expensive. Desert theme type hotel looks good, don't think they would blow it up while building the other one, they need it open to still make money while the other one is been built then once the other opens they might then.
Lee it's quiet there reminds me of a coffin dodgers hotel. What do you think the average age of ppl there? Intact the whole island reminds me of a sleepy area amongst all the nearby islands well it will soon be over
How far was the hotel from the town. If 1-2 miles I would walk that but appreciate your comments if you are relying on taxis or public transport. Was the breakfast included in the room price?
It didn't seem to make sense to me either. His frequent mentions of Leeds and the surrounding area led me to assume he was a Yorkshireman. Even at 74 years old, my own Yorkshire roots would have had me walking to avoid the extortionate taxi fare. The map even shows a bus stop outside the hotel! Watching more videos made me realise that he was't from God's own county, and explained the egregious extravagance.
I dont think you had a balcony lol think u didnt tell us enough times lee . Nice hotel 🏨 still out of the way a bit expensive everytime in a taxi . Isnt there a bus 4 cheaper . Nice food anyway good variety and pool cheers 4 sharing beach ⛱️ aint bad 2
I hate those toasters too Lee! Foods cold before the toast is done 😂 Your food looked nice. You've made me want an omelette now and I don't even like omelette 😅
That foyer reminded me of an episode from Murder she wrote set in the 1980s looks ok but very of it's time. buffet breakfast looked pretty good though.
You need to stay away for a few more days, there's no wind, no solar the grid is at maximum and we're one milk float charging from the lights going out.
Enjoyed the video, but thought you were harsh with the food. Quality appeared very good and plenty of choice - maybe youve been spoilt! The room looked tired though....
I'm pretty sure your hotel is at the other beach ⛱️. The beach that has the small round areas built from stones for people to sit/sunbathe in, to block the wind. Shame you didn't get to go up the clock tower in the smaller shopping square before the strip. Lovely views from up there.
Lee their are some fabulous hotels in the town centre. Yes you need a car but a jeep’s better as you can go off road on the way to Jandia and see beaches that are some of best in the world and some beautiful little towns showing the real culture of the island. It’s a place if you’re looking for a laid back holiday. For me beats Tenerife all day long. But each to their own.
I’ve stayed in RIU hotels all over the place and that hotel doesn’t come anywhere near the standard of normal RIU properties. I wonder if the hotel is a new acquisition for RIU and it just has not refurbished and “RIU ised” yet.
Why do you hate those toasters? I love them and I only get to use them when I travel to Europe. They have always worked well for me and they are quite FAST!
Lee lad , I have a question , you said you love New York and you lived in the city . What city in the UK was NY modeled on ... Gotcha eh ? Glasgow , Scotland
I’m posting here cos I don’t have email addy. Have you been to New Orleans and its neighbours yet? If not, it was one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. Why did you not get the bus from the end of the street, they run every half hour & the costs a couple of euros.
The swimming pool looks nice ❤😊
Lee,
We were last there in 2013 & were told the hotel shouldn't have been built due to it being in the area of the dunes, which is apparently a national park.
The food looks yummy 😋❤
Did you not choose the standard of room you are in when you booked? Normally I would expect various room options to be available or was your choice driven purely by price. Maybe should have considered the Secrets Bahía Real Resort & Spa instead?
Hi lee hotel a bit dated food was ok but those eggs looked like rubber 😂😂 great video thx 😂
Its hard sometimes to gauge from reviews and staying there is the only way. We loved the Corralejo beach for it's location u cant argue with a walk out the door and theres the beach ❤
I have to have a balcony good breckie selection 😊I’d be in my element with the cheese selection, vending meal looked v nice
That buffet looks huuuge, looks delish x
Lee, stop repeating yourself, have I already said that? Anyway stop repeating yourself, have I already said that? Anyway stop repeating yourself, onwards.
Hi Lee
Corralejo has lots of hotels in town… you booked a remote location and no balcony….
Did you say you were out on a limb with no balcony…..
Darren John needs you to visit him and cheer him up 😂😂😂
Love Ian&Jen xx
Intact the whole island reminds me of a sleepy area amongst all the nearby islands well it will soon be over
Infact
How far was the hotel from the town. If 1-2 miles I would walk that but appreciate your comments if you are relying on taxis or public transport. Was the breakfast included in the room price?
Breakfast and dinner included.
I stayed in the other riu hotel with balconys lol 😂 nice views by the way but has been making folk sick for the last 15 years
I dont think you had a balcony lol think u didnt tell us enough times lee . Nice hotel 🏨 still out of the way a bit expensive everytime in a taxi . Isnt there a bus 4 cheaper . Nice food anyway good variety and pool cheers 4 sharing beach ⛱️ aint bad 2
at the start of your arrival you said it was to posh for a mansfield lad ?
He did didn't he posh he said went to his room and then on the dunes, but now he has alzimers😕 $ Shop Trump
Yeah, posh giving a Champagne. Room however... CR*P
@ You paid for it not us!
I hate those toasters too Lee! Foods cold before the toast is done 😂 Your food looked nice. You've made me want an omelette now and I don't even like omelette 😅
Like Elsbels off Carry On Abroad! At least that’s what I thought when we stayed next door 😂
Lee, if you want a balcony, sorry mate, but you have to pay for a balcony room.
You can also Ask for a room change. If it costs more you have a choice.
@@jamesfnolan6516 TOP TIP-: Read the room description before you book
The food is very well presented.....
Looks great what’s up with you
Lee their are some fabulous hotels in the town centre.
Dinner looks good, i wonder what their tea would of been like ;)
I’ve stayed in RIU hotels all over the place and that hotel doesn’t come anywhere near the standard of normal RIU properties. I wonder if the hotel is a new acquisition for RIU and it just has not refurbished and “RIU ised” yet.
I agree. The RIU in Madrid is stunning
Great hotel.
Most perfect location.
Did you mention the balcony 😂
Why do you hate those toasters? I love them and I only get to use them when I travel to Europe. They have always worked well for me and they are quite FAST!
Lee lad , I have a question , you said you love New York and you lived in the city .
What city in the UK was NY modeled on ...
Gotcha eh ?
Glasgow , Scotland
It was and it's used as a backdrop for NY in movies. 😉
Breakfast looked amazing what more do you want?? Id be making sandwiches with all the amazing bread , churros con chocolate , tortillas yum
Looks clean and fine to me. So what if it is dated?
Tired carpark and no balcony,,,, shame, 😂😂😂😂 you poor man, guess you'll have a battery powered car also, 😂😂😂so pleased for you take care
I’m posting here cos I don’t have email addy. Have you been to New Orleans and its neighbours yet? If not, it was one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. There’s the city itself, plus Tennessee/nashville after taking a hired car, voodoo, swamps, the Mississippi and so much more to see . Give it 2-3 weeks
Yes, I do not see the reason for a bidet, as you can stand upside down in the shower and keep your mouth closed.😂. It does look a little tired to me, too.😮. Meals looked fine, though.
