I’m from Mainland China, and just watched the entirety of the video. Thanks for this fascinating interview helping me know China Mac more in terms of his childhood and upbringing. Since I was born in 1984, under the sign of Mouse, presumably around the same time he’s born, I can’t help but be amazed by the fact that we had totally different trajectories of life as I was always the A student and went through the supposedly normal route: Go to university, find a stable job, get married and have kids. But I still feel like somethings is missing since I never like the office politics, and fed up with all the phonies trying to get ahead by all means possible . But I like him. No matter how drastically different our life choices seems to be, what really matters is what kind of person you are. And in China Mac, I see someone genuine, and being a genuine person myself I have nothing but respect. I just cannot help thinking in some parallel universes, I could be him or he could be me. Anyway, great channel and keep more videos coming.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I grew up in Boston and trained in martial arts at the Chinese Benevolent Society in the early 90's. I'll tell you right now, it was one of those, "you had to know someone" to get in type of places back then. And most of the teens that trained there, were family of gangs. I was definitely naïve as a kid and just thought it was cool to learn authentic Chinese Kungfu. I hung out with a few Vietnamese kids from there and there was some big gang war type of killings, then my parents didn't allow me to go back there. Good times though and the stuff I saw and heard was right out of a movie. This channel brings back memories.

Big respect for this channel! I love watching these videos. I myself been in gangs since I was 8 years old in 1988.I grew up thinking I was Laotian but then I had slanted eyes and people used to tease me that I was Chinese. Growing up I was from the project and fought Chinese gang members from kung fu school to the lion dance club run by the Tongs. One day I found out that my pops and ma was not my real parents . My mom was Thai Chinese and my real dad was 100% Chinese from Malaysia but ancestors came from fujian. I was 12 years old in 1992 when my Dai-Lo walked in my house without knocking and told me to come with him and one of my home boys I was already in a gang with . They took me to a temple and told me to get in my boxers. They said they were gonna be mh new family and to wanted to enlist me into their gang. I seen too many movies so I was smart not to ask questions because I wanted that life all the money and fast cars with women. Short story short a lot of the Dinosaurs call me the Self Made Dragon because I rose the ranks to where I am today. I am a retired Businessman a millionaire. I am a Legend in the streets of Hawaii to the mainland. I am glad to see some of my Chinese brothers that lived that same life I lived no matter where you came from the Gang life is real and no joke . People under estimate us . I enjoyed this show . I have no one to talk to or tell the story to lol . I still have some loyal mens with me that follows me and help with all my businesses but once in a while we sit down and reminisce on the old days and all my fighting on the streets to being who I am today! I appreciate you Dailo Michael Moy. It’s good to let our people know or the world to know that we do exist .and we do not need to cover our heads with a shirt no more we can hold our head high and say we are Men of Honor.

I used to do business (not drugs) with Chinese in Vancouver, Canada from 2014 to 2019... and they protected our crew during some tense situations. Those sit-downs are real.
I also remember being invited (me and the crew) to a very nice diner in a chinese restaurant, where we had bottles of liquor and mountains of fried pigeon and chicken to eat. It was so surreal to see a couple of white boys sitting down with a bunch of old chinese guys dressed in silk suits with gold jewelry.
Thinking back on this, I have no idea what Chinese gang I was doing business with.. but they always treated me very well, never tried to rip me off, and also protected us from other jealous crews that didn't like to see us succeed.
On the other hand, I seen Chinese street drug dealers get beat up by their own people for using the product themselves.. mid-day on a busy street. They don't care. Scary shit.

I'm past my young adult years now, but growing up there were those around me who were enticed into joining local gangs on the west coast like Wah Ching and Big Circle. Was even asked once if I'd like to join, but I realized I was more content staying home to play video games and watching some HK Triad movies. Later studied engineering and am working as a software engineer now, but part of me always felt the gang life had this mysterious, dangerous, masculine aura about it.
I essentially think a lot of social interactions come down to power and status, regardless of what the context is. Any argument that goes really wrong can only be resolved by either running away or a fight. The gang life is a very raw, unfiltered version of that, and that's why its so fascinating, much more so than how someone succeeded in academics or shit like that, because sheltered guys like myself wouldn't last a minute on the streets with just book smarts (if any). Which is why this is the content I like most now, maybe its what a younger version of me wants to see and be able to "live vicariously". To put it bluntly, part of me wishes I was closer to the action when I was younger, but I was too pussy, and now can only watch this kind of content from the comfort of my sheltered life. And I suppose I made the right choices.
I think I found out about Mac through some content related to MC Jin, I grew up speaking Cantonese at home, and moved to NYC not too long ago, so all of this is great content. Thank you and keep up the good work.
