"Your LH is what you know; your RH is who you are." Beautifully put! A profound distinction. I'll be thinking about this ( and acting n it, I hope,) a lot! I'm also starting to do as you recommend in another lesson, and practicing LH and RH separately. (Pianists do this al the time.)

I wish I remembered who first shared that quote with me. Whoever it was, I'm glad they did because it really affected how I approached playing mandolin and fiddle after that. How is it going practicing the right and left hand separately? Are you seeing progress? Feel free to reach out with questions! - Nate

    1 is the way I hold mine👍
I have double jointed thumbs too and 2 is the way I started but I started being able to play faster and clearer once I got comfortable playing with 1
    Love the video!
    Awesome Job!!!

Finding a technique that works for you is priceless! I'm not sure if I mentioned this in the video, but 2 is the way I started as well, and I also have double-jointed thumbs! Thanks for watching my videos! - Nate

      @@PlayNately Thanks for uploading!
I’ve learned so much from your channel!
Even more than just technique. Since I’ve found your channel I went and bought me a Dr. Arm armrest for my mandolin and (once I got it out of the box that reminded me of an Apple product box😂) watched your install tutorial to figure out how to put it on lol

@@calebellismando Apple sure set the standard for what an unboxing experience should be like!
So happy to hear you're learning a lot from the channel! It inspires me to keep making more videos! Feel free to request topics for future videos! - Nate
