Ralph is my neighbor and has been for the past 14 years. He is the most compassionate and kindest person I've ever met, and that's all that's important. He spreads light and love whenever you see him and always has an encouraging word. We all love him!
Thank you for saying that ma’am
BK all day every day! Saint James towers!
My uncle lives across the parking lot from him....Ryerson Towers
Good brother.
he was not gay.
He was a very smart
and very mature
.man..
I wish you’d suggest to him don’t be a homosexual. He was awesome in Good Times. What a bummer.
I rode the G train in NYC every week with him when I lived in BK. I never let on that I knew who he was BUT the strangest, nicest thing was he acted like he knew me and made me feel like I was the famous one. This man is pure gold and one of a kind. Rich blessings to him for being kind and just plain NICE.
Ralph is also my neighbor. We bump heads now and then. Always with a smile. When he's not on his cell phone he would always stop and chat for a while. Very friendly with everyone. When I first met Ralph I was introduce to him by a friend I was talking with who also knows him. He just happen to be walking by. He stopped and sat on the bench with us and we talked for about a half hour. Loves to tell stories and goof around a little bit, he's acts like a regular guy in the neighborhood. Now when I see him he always gives my a hug and a hand shake. We've grown to be friends. He treats my like a friend and it's always nice to see him. We live 8 blocks apart so we bumps heads pretty often. If you ever get to meet him you can't help but to love him. Always sweet and kind to everyone. Now he knows me by name. If I don't notice him walking by he would call out to me by name, from a distance just to wave and say hello.
That’s a cool vibe to be a part of. I wish I could meet him because he is my favorite character on Good Times to which I still catch some episodes every now and then to this day.
I wish ALL celebrities was this humble and people friendly.
Met some celebrities over the years because I work in a prestigious hospital in NYC but I’ve also met some people out and about myself but he is one that I would love to meet the most and hear some of those stories.
I’m happy and envious of your friendship 😁
@@theultimatelibra21 I also know Rosie Perez she lives 7 blocks from me and Christina Ricci lived across the street from me for 2 years now she moved to California but she still owns the house she rents it out
Love Ralph! He was my neighbor, lived down the block in BKLYN. Very kind, intelligent, with positive energy on every encounter. When my Grams passed in 2018, he made sure he came to support my family at the repass as we celebrated her LIFE.
I worked at a nursing home where his aunt was a resident and where he visited her. He was very courteous and he told us he was planing a play for Broadway. That was app. 10yrs ago.
I had the pleasure of meeting him, and he is a perfect gentleman. I found him to be very humble, and personable.
Thank You ❤Ralph for being a phenomenal entertainer and actor. As well as, All the wonderful childhood memories. God's Best to you ALWAYS
Good Times was one best shows ever 😅
It's garbage

Not true, the Jefferson was the best show ever.
@@MartinLutherKingKong-ph1iy Some ppl hate everything that's black. It's call evil and hateful...nothing new.

I met Mr. Carter once. My mother came to NYC to visit from Louisiana. One of many visits. I took her to a jazz club called AuBar on East 58th St off Madison Avenue to see Ruth Brown. Great singer. The place was packed, and there were two seats at our table so Mr. Carter brought his mom and joined our table. A wonderful night. I always loved his work on Good Times.
LOVED HIM IN GOOD TIMES VERY TALENTED
Love you 2
I met him as a teenager as he went to the same performing arts school as my cousin. He was nicest most grounded person that someone in that position, that young could be. I was so impressed with him
I met Ralph Carter at the National Black Theatre Festival. He was a kind, personable man. We were both acting and could not attend each other's performances because of a time conflict. He is a wonderful person...that I know!
I met him and his mother in New York in 1974. I was a Senior in high school, and we were in New York to see Raisin. We did not know that he was in it. He was crossing the street and we stopped him, and we had about a 3 minute conversation. He introduced us to his mother. They were very nice to us. Also, I must say that Ralph is really looking good in the red outfit. ❤❤❤❤
I never thought he was gay. Why is it always mentioned about being gay? People don't ever randomly mention theyre heterosexual. Continued success to him and his family.
PPl talked about homosexuality because it's not the norm. If most ppl were gay, then ppl who are heterosexual sexuality would be mentioned more.
@@brownr749No that has nothing to do with it it's more that we have a strain of homophobia running through the black community which comedian Lee says nothing about having babies in wedlock , that's also the norm yet people don't talk about people having babies out of wedlock
@@businessofboxing9939 (No that has nothing to do with it)
What has nothing to do with what? Sex? Sex has a lot to do with almost everything. It’s what brings life into world.
(it's more that we have a strain of homophobia running through the black community)
Through the black community? I have to inform you, but it runs through every community. I admit the level of homophobia is higher in the black community… but big deal.

People don't talk about people are having babies out of wedlock? Where have you been?
@@businessofboxing9939true people are obsessed with gay people always talk about it then get mad when they see it. Weird af
Exactly. I wonder the same thing. Why should someone's personal life be a factor?
Mike has represented himself & "us with nothing but dignity & love.🖤👑
Just let him have peace. He seems so nice. Rumors all the time! I watched him back in the day. Seemed like a typical young man. Cute funny and talented 👍🏽⭐️
And gay😂😂😂😂
@@MartinLutherKingKong-ph1iy I bet 10 to 1, he doesn't walk around scared of his own shadow like his haters.
Love that he kept his nose
Yes, me to and I mean it in the most positive and respectful manner.
Hard to lose it.
Homey need to have that nose surgery for real. It is as big as a Cadillac.
Amazing show and actors! I still watch the reruns. Clean comedy! ❤
I’m watching good times on peacock right now lol . Good show
Great show. Reruns are too.
Loved that show as a child of the 1970s
I didn't know he had five children, and the rumors have been around so long that i believed it. Its nice to learn he contributed much to the industry and is still living comfortably. The ADELCO award I'd place before all others any day. I'd be honored!
Me either,I can't believe it that he has 5 children.
I never Heard he was
@@latonyawilliams4495 I had a huge crush on him. I remember the HIV & Gay rumors in the 80s. I Guess Good Times still wasn't that old of a show back then.
Glad to hear he's alive and well. Such a great talent and contribution to the arts and community.
I don't believe he's gay if he is that's his business.
Well, I thought he might be gay from reading the title and ppl used to say that about him when GT was on the air....his buisness? I never know exactly what that means, except it could be defending someone where there's no need to be defensive.
Still cute.
No. It’s because he doesn’t fit that stereotypical black male amongst the SUB culture within the BEAUTIFUL BLACK CULTURE.
@@horizontoday7874 What is the stereotypical black male?
Peanut butter feels good
The world did stop when one of your favorite black stars were on tv!😊
Well, unless He tells me he is gay I find it rather hard to believe. But, be that as it may, I had a HUGE crush on the character Michael!! To me, he was handsome and so cool!! I wish the actor Ralph Carter all the best.❤❤❤
I don't appreciate always hearing about people's private lives either. Why is it always an issue about being gay or some other private stuff. Those subjects should be left out. Prohibited.
Exactly I'm a fan of his acting ability and could care less about his sexual orientation that's his business
I agree.
A big problem in society. Always a tug/neg and positive. This era, people are way too sensitive, arrogant in how they want to post.
Also, beware that all these social sites and are 50/ 50. Meaning some are true stories, and some are simply tabloids, and 1 should sift out the not so true stories.
Well .... That's the price these stars pay for being famous. It comes with the territory so y'all keep calm and get over it.
How is it prohibited when people put it on display daily
@@MarvaCaldwell at this point they are pushing it down our throats it's everywhere all these genders and labels
I met Ralph years ago when I worked in a hotel where he and Ms. Bern Nadette Stanis were guests. He was a very beautiful man with a warm, positive spirit. We love you, Brother Carter!!
We watch Good Times all Time! Ralph Carter is very talented It's none of my business what he does in his personal life Positive Reading & Learning is key Ralph Carter ❤❤ U our Brother 😀
I still watch good Times right now… And I’m in my 60s..
me too i love that i grew up in the best of everything music , tv etc.....
I'm 36 and still watch it from the reruns
Same
60s? That's like dead n stuff
Same here
Ralph Carter is one of the best individual I ever met that gay shit was bullshit. Keep living on brother.
Them people always want to portray us in a bad light, but skip over their own.
Why does it matter if he is gay or not?
The most important is he is a good person and has done the community service.
@@Dimi374it's still actually a controversial subject in the black community. At the end of the day you will get more clicks with controversy
We love you King❤❤❤
Such an icon and wonderful man.
I met him last year at a play at Black Spectrum theater in Queens. He was so warm and nice. I asked to take a picture with him and he readily agreed. He took pictures with me and my friend. I told him I still watched the show, and he said thank you. He was really nice and approachable. I really appreciated that and I wish him continued success in all his endeavors.
He owns his own home in the downtown brooklyn area
Oh Ok
I love Ralph, he will always be considered family ❤❤❤
Ralph (Michael) taught me alot. There was Blackman with Columbus. Jesus was Balck. Boy is a White racist word.
Thank you, Ralph for sharing not only your talent, but intelligence and contributions to our people ❤️
Whatever Mike becomes he deserves it he was a handsome young man and he deserves his privacy I never though Mike was gay and if he was so what instill respect him as a young man then and still now keep living a swell life mike you represented very well and young still a good person. 💜
I applaud this Brother for unapologetically and openly supporting the African American community throughout the many years. While I'm sure wayward ambition could have easily moved his talents in his adult years...he, as the young folk say now...didn't chase the bag. Many of "US" forget...as I watched an interview of a well known Black actor on The View...who got agitated when asked about his experiences as a Black man in the industry. I thought it was sad. So again, Strong shout out to Mr. Carter for his love for his community.
He is a friend and lives in Downtown Brooklyn/Fort Green area. He was living with his mother until her passing of old age a couple of years ago. A lot of this information is not accurate.
Is he still alive?? I like him in Good Times!! Hope he's doing well!!
@mgolden78 Yes, he's alive and well.
That's where I saw him at McDonalds' near LIU. Very pleasant.
I have a Facebook group with 100,000 members, and I would love to interview him.
Thank you I saw him many time but I dare not run up to him like a crazy fan I lived in fort green for the longest time time. His private life is no one’s business.
Great to see this Brother doing well.Who really cared about the gay crap either way. GOOD FOR HIM !!!!!!
No, that part ain't good.
That's the problem with social society in the past , today , and in the future towards anyone in the lime light of Hollywood and especially towards black actresses and actors but when they choose to stay out of the lime light and be PRIVATE it should be RESPECTED let them be themselves in their own TRANQUILITY they have a Right to Live in PIECE no matter what It is No Matter what their BUSINESS is 💯
Hey !!!!! I shall thank you for that I and I appreciate it when you mention it I couldn't do nothing but just laugh at that as much I called myself proof read before I sent it out lol 👍🙏🙏😎😂🤣
WHO CARES HE IS GAY. THAT IS HIS LIFE!!! THAT'S HIS PRIVATE LIFE. GREAT ACTOR.❤
In this piece, it shows he is not gay....I think it good they cleared it up...if ppl thought I was gay, I would want to be confronted so I can make it clear to them I'm not...and whatever they want to believe after that, I don't care.
Thank you Ralph Carter for your talent and your interest in black performing arts right on brother ✊🏽 this one is for you🤜🏽🏆🤛🏽
I never thought Ralph was gay, but it really doesn't matter to me either way. He was an excellent actor and his legacy will forever be ingrained in American culture.
I really don't like to hear about Ralph's private life ,he was a great actor on Good Times !❤
If you don't want to hear about anybody's private life, then why are you here??...in the title it reads about his sexuality.
hello........ralph carter is a great talent , he was one of the bright spots on " good times " 😊😊😊😊. great share , thank you , for sharing🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰......................
He was and is a beautiful, talented, humble, and all-around wonderful human being. ❤
Met him at the Fort Greene Brooklyn musical festival, so down to Earth and warm person, love you Ralph !!!!!
The way he was dressed in Good Times was the style at that time. That blue suit he was wearing when singing was a dressy outfit at that time. The rumors about him being gay came out much later when he became an adult.
I don't believe it was so much of the way he dress than the way he acted...he acted like a person that might be gay...
Right
I appreciate y’all doing this! I’ve always been a fan of this Good Brotha!! 💔🖤✅
Thanks, happy to hear!
Ralph was in my singing voice class around the year 1978 at Los Angeles City College and was a very nice young man. It was so interesting being in a class with a well known TV actor.
THEY DO DERSERVE THEIR PRIVACY IF THEY CHOOSE TO LEAVE HIM ALONE NEVER HEARD NOTHING NEGATIVE
He was so adorable ❤
I wish ralph nothing but the best.I love ❤️ him and if hes gay or not , it dosent matter to me.He was a good actor and i wish him the best in life.👍🏻🙂❤️
Goodtimes is one of my all time favorite sitcoms ever! i grew up on that although Florida got on my nerves at times I love it! i grew up watching goodtimes and I still watch it to this day and will continue to do so!
Went people don't know your business, "they assume!!🤔
I'm not sure why ppl are so overly defensive about it...they make it seem like something is horribly immoral about it when they come off so emotional about a judgement.
I used to live at 201 Clinton Avenue, Brooklyn NY. I also used to always run into Mr. Carter in Clinton Hill, and at times at the theatre on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway. He probably dos not remember me by name, but he always treated me and my family well.
It has been a while, but thumbs up to you Ralph, wherever you are. I hope to run into you soon.
I'm NOT surprised about his sexual preference. I can see it early on. So what else is new. I love the fact he's an advocate for Black art and our community. That's what I'm proud of ❤
The video states he is not gay and is married with children for 30 years. He won't let the media in his life so they label him gay!
He did dress like a gay boy or man in the show that's a lie
I didn't see it back then.

Used to see him on the A train in NYC; most people probably didn't know who he was but loved watching him and still do on Good Times.
What a wonderful story, thanks for sharing!
Ralph was gay. I met him several times in Harlem. He was into that African Muslim thing when i met him. He was nice
How do you know he was gay?
It's great to hear that Mr. Carter has had two wives and five children. His character on "Good Times" was great-A conscious young brother.
I'm glad he's surviving and staying close to the scene.
I always thought the was gay but who cares. Glad he's doing well.
Can't compare him to Janet Jackson. She was famous before the show. She came from a famous singing family. Michael Jackson is her brother. You get the picture
I loved watching him on TV and wish him all the happiness. 😊❤
While walking my Dog one day, I saw Ralph walking my way. We know each other pretty well now, we're friends. He just got off the phone. He mention that he was talking with BernNadette and they still keeps in touch. So I as him about Janet Jackson. He said they still call each other now and then. Then out of the clear blue he mention Donna Summer. He told me he miss Donna so much. She happen to be his best friend. He mention they would hang out together quite often and call each other all the time. When she passed away he was heart broken. He loved Donna Summer. I haven't seen any videos on youtube were he talks about Donna but I would like to know more. But I don't bring her up when we speak cause I know he still hurts for her.
Ah that is so wonderful that you shared all of this. Thanks so much! Who else would you like a video on?

I used to see Ralph in Brooklyn near Fort Greene downtown Brooklyn when I was a kid. He would try to blend in by wearing a cowboy hat lol...
I think most of us knew that since day one it wasn't a big thing then and it isn't a big thing now❤
I can say im blessed too have grown up in the best of real everything that was the 70's etc.... Ralph is so right about the world stopping when u saw blacks on tv back in the good days its true we use too lose our minds seeing the jacksons on the sonny and cher show . merv griffin . soul train and the cartoons show the had on saturday this man MIcheal Evans is a true Icon the show is as all the black shows back then !!
I subscribed to your channel these stories are interesting because we've seen on TV or heard about
Wonderful, thanks! What actor or actress would you like us to make a video about?
I. Still. Watch the. Good times love the show
The first time I watched good times I knew that the guy who played Michael was gay. I loved the show.
HIS CLOTHES DIDN'T LOOK GAY. PEOPLE ARE ALL IN HIS BUSINESS. DIDN'T KNOW HE HAD CHILDREN AND WAS MARRIED.
I've always liked him, still do he's personable, talented, warm and a credit to his profession and people.
Being married to a woman most definitely does not mean one isn’t bed hopping with men, However his sexual preference is his business and no one else’s.
That's his business if he is gay 💯
Awesome man..
❤
Don't forget, you have to wear a dress and sell your soul to move up to the next level.
And yet nobody has a picture of Ralph in a dress. If you have one please upload it I'll wait.
I loved the show and I understood why JJ hated everyone. James wanted the focus to be on black people doing more for the community like the younger two children. JJ was a talented painter but the writers only wanted to focus on his silliness and make that the main part of the show. I think the talented love togetherness, and strength of the family dynamics should have stood out more but thats what most people remember about the show.
I hate that I never ever took the time to get to personally engage and develop a friendship with him while growing up in the same community in Brooklyn NYC just across the street from my parents NYCHA home...
🎉net worth 1 million, I would say he is well off rich

I don't care about what people think I your the greatest actor ever Ralph Carter😊
I watched Good Times growing up. I never thought for a second that he was gay, just the opposite. Gay men dont usually get married a few times and have five kids.
Right
I dont think he is gay people always getting the wrong understanding.I read he was married and had 5 children
It doesn't matter if your black or white or gay it's what in side of that person
that last part does matter!!!
Wonderful King 👑
I think you're the greatest actor ever Ralph Carter😊
I owned the album ❤ I RAN to the record store...!!!
I was in high school when Good Times hit the air and I remember many girls in my class said Ralph Carter act like he was gay. Sometimes the ppl who were watching the show with me and JJ Walker would flip his wrists very high and ppl would mention he act like he was gay, but with Carter many watchers definitely thought he was gay…
I remember when Bruce Jenner was doing many special guest appearances on shows when he won all of these medals…and at times, I remember girls I knew commented on his hair style..saying he has bangs and looks like a girl…I thought nothing of it, now he’s a woman.
I thought the title said gay house. I thought about a very happy place.
so did I.
Luv Ralph❤❤❤
