Welcome to the Last video of the Corruption Trilogy, where I will be discussing the Genshin Impact Character Xiao AKA the Conqueror of Demons, and delving into the potential plotline of his corruption via Abyssal Magic. This video is less theory and more of an imaginative analysis on my part, so come embark on the tale of the vigilant Yaksha!

Ok but If Xiao ever gets corrupted imagine what Chongyun's reaction will be (since in his hangout quest he said he admired and has great respect for the Vigilant Yaksha)💀

@@Lionhart1991 Yeah, even though Xiao is probably a lot more powerful than Albedo thats all he really has, Albedo, on top of his broken alchemy, is one of the smartest characters we have ever met and thats what makes him more dangerous if he were to go corrupt
everyone saying xiao or albedo...
But the TRUE threat is the Dark Timmie the Pigeon slayer, abyss emperor, & God of darkness

tbf, xiao at his current state is very easy for the abyss to convince/manipulate, which can be a good way to introduce abyss lector and have xiao be corrupted right in front of us, with xiao in the character screen actually smile after the 'corruption'
i can see the deal given by the abyss literally just be
>free from his karma
>no need for constant fighting or battles
>no need to follow rex lapis' contracts
>ability to rest/retire
and in return, simply
>be loyal to the abyss
Corrupted xiao and the abyss lector into the story would be so nice in terms of plot
i doubt this will happen, since xiao was manipulated by some unknown god and used as a "bloodhound", and his concept article specifies that he's not as naïve as he used to be. the only reason he served morax at first is because he had neutralized the first god xiao served and him and the other yakshas saw it as an unpayable debt.

I think it might be the opposite, seeing how fiercely he fights for Liyue and keeps going with Rex Lapis’s contract. I think, that due to his personality, if he wouldn’t care about those he holds close and about Liyue, he would stop with fulfilling the contract by now. And as we saw Zhongli say while handling his gnosis to the fatui ,,contract, to end all contracts” might be implying, that all contracts he ever created, are over by now. Nevertheless, Xiao continues to do his work, no matter what. We also need to remember part of the enemies he fights might be the abyss mages (I’m taking references from watching videos from his story quest on RUclips). He’s also very loyal to those who he deems his friends, that is Rex Lapis and traveler by now. He was also manipulated by an unknown god in his history, that he got freed from by Zhongli. In return of his saving, Xiao became the adeptus of Liyue (which he must do willingly, considering his character).
@@Elliarts54 Xiao was always loyal, that is unquestioned, so the abyss corruption if it was a psychological manipulation would either be : rest, *or* they ask : why not hold more power to fulfill your ambition of keeping liyue safe; the abyss can give you power that your dead god could not. abyss corruption most likely *is* mental and psychological because good entities have fallen to it before, so the question becomes : how do you outright resist it if your own benevolence isn't one of the ways

Honestly, just the thought of xiao corrupted and fighting the traveler , then coming back to his senses before ending his own life just to save the traveler from himself would be a symbollic way to go
This was incredibly painful to watch as a Xiao main, but a banger nonetheless. I loved that intro sm lol and I think it would permanently change our opinions of the divine if Xiao were to ever fall.
Ahh the beginning is so cool, I could listen to you tell stories like that all day lol! I wonder if xiao would be able to be swayed away from his loyalty to morax, but looking at the other yaksha it feels like his fate is doomed one way or another :’)
Xiao's teapot line means that the traveler could save him from abyssal corruption. We are the only ones able to wield the sword made out of Durin's remains which are full of abyssal corruption. :)
Xiao has one of my favorite stories, I spent a while just reading his story inserts and voice lines, and people often disregard him because he’s the basic emo type, but if you read his story his character makes more sense and becomes a lot more complex

And if you listen to his Chinese VA aka the original one or even his Japanese one you'll realize that he isn't some basic edgy teenager but an immortal being who is being destroyed from the inside because of the actions of the past and the death he has brought for the purpose of protecting what is dear to him.
I highly suggest you watch this video - ruclips.net/video/AY1XsILU7pY/видео.html or just search "Xiao correct translations" I feel like these translations are more accurate to his character than the English portrayal of Xiao.
This isn't me hating on the EN VA of Xiao but more on the person who directed her.
As always this is just my opinion and I want to share it on the internet cause no one wants to listen to me rant about fictional characters in real life. You are welcome to disagree just don't be rude about it.
This was so well done, absolutely amazing job Aster. You have just defied the curse of most trilogies and ended at an extremely high note, Bravo!
Your description of abyssal corruption has definitely helped put it into perspective. It isn't just a physical or magical attack but a psychological one! Targeting the very repressed aspects of an individuals desires amplifying their inner shadow as described in Jungian psychology.
Isn't it interesting how Mondstadt and Liyue have these very powerful individuals precariously balancing on the edge of corruption? By that I mean Albedo and Xiao of course. What is more alarming is that both characters often are found alone far from the centers of their respective nations. The plausible outcome here definitely exists whether Mihoyo chooses to take that path in the storyline or not it remains forever a potential dilemma to be wary of.

Okay but hear me out-
What if the abyss is able to control elements because of the ley lines? What if it's not celestial magic but instead something celestia labeled as theirs?
Every time we defeat an abyss mage they drop ley line sprouts. They're able to manipulate elements because of the white wooden staff in their hands. As for the lectors and Heralds, if they were open world enemies then I'm sure they would have similar drops.

This is absolutely TOP TIER, I've never seen someone as talented as you. The storytelling made me believe that you got it from an in-game source, the music is so well blended with the current topic and mood, your research is beyond any I have seen on any other channels (except maybe rivalled by a couple), I was hooked from the beginning and I've only watched this third of the story!

I'd love that. I've seen some people say that the missing yaksha might be a fatui harbinger because they held a grudge against Rex Lapis for failing to prevent the corruption of the other yakshas. Like Tsaritsa, it's fair to assume that the missing yaksha might also want to destroy/defeat the other archons in a form of revenge?
I prefer the abyss thing though, only because the abyss doesn't really have any strong and interesting characters.

Commen misunderstanding. There were not only 5 yakshas, but hundreds. The 5 shown in the trailer were only the most powerful, and they did not all die, some ran away and hid from the corruption, leaving only xiao

this video came in a perfect time, i was having a xiao brainrot since yesterday and this video will fuel it even more. nice video as always! i really love your narration.
If I may I'd like to make a note on the editing of this video, the color changes were a tad distracting and it was just a bit dark to properly see a good chunk of the time. Also while I live them whenever you do the whispering segments in your other videos it's just a tad too soft and I find myself missing some of it.

If the travelers are immortal couldn’t they become best buds or even more Than that and help him in many ways.
Definitely; meeting the traveler would definitely be the best thing that would keep Xiao relatively stable and if his sere pot means anything, maybe Aether/lumine can help him cleanse his karma

In any case, yea that was creepy, I dont see it happening tbh or at least not in close future, if Abyss did this, that would have to be far into the future when they are not affraid of really revealing themselves and all ready to go full out, at least I hope so, Xiao deserves retirement more than Morax. But a cool concept and yea, this is how it would go down, if this is how the abyss corruption will really work.
Oh and brilliant work, especially the last bit about how it would work with the plotline, interesting stuff. I really hope nothing like this happens, imagine how much it would hurt Xiao to know that after he held out so long he fell so ignominiously and would hurt the ones he spend thousands of years suffering and protecting, it would be insanely cruel and tbh it would make me lose even the last shred of potential care I had for Lumine. Xiao deserves a vacation, he even deserves a final peaceful death, but not like this.
Like I said, I dont think this is going to happen, tbh I can see a few characters dying but so far Genshin really doesnt seem like this dark of a game, nearly all, if not all, of this sort of heavy stuff is relegated to the lore or behind the scenes stuff, it would be interesting and certainly emotionally effective but yea, this would have to be like the begining of the end because I dont think even Aether would take at all kindly to this.
