I honestly just go with it sometimes and hope it works out. For the first design I mentioned in the video, another reason I changed designs is because I feared there would not be enough fabric to give it the look I wanted lol
You should do a "How to use a sewing machine" video because your videos inspire me to upcycle all of my old clothes but im sewing maching ignorant and would probably break it if i tried using it, and i can never get any of my hand sewed work to stay.
I'm actually having classes about how to sew and in the first class we were encouraged to use the machine on a A4 normal paper just to see how it works
Just wanted to let you know I had an orange skirt just like this that I started on probably 2 or 3 years ago and set it aside while I worked on other things. I pulled it out yesterday and finally finished attaching the top frill and hemming the bottom. Thank you so much for this project. I needed to learn to run and gun with more of my sewing and stop obsessing over measurements and techniques so much. This project was so good for that. The elastic and flowy fabric let me be way more free with sewing.
Off the shoulder tops are really fashionable over here in the UK for summer 16! You have inspired me to do a make over for a skirt into a top (if u haven't gotten rid of it) 😊
can I just say that this is literally one of my favorite channels I've ever come across?! This is AWESOME! So cool to see someone in my generation so others that thrifting can be a really great alternative to other clothing/retail options! Keep up the great work!!!
I love your videos! I binge-watched all the episodes in one day and now I'm addicted. I love your style and seeing what these pieces turn into. Awesome channel!
This is one of my favorite transformations! I have a few of those skirts. I can't let go because they are pretty, but I won't wear them because they are so out of style. I have been wanting to get some off the shoulder tops, but have not found any with a waist. Now, I know just what to do. Thanks!
You inspired me! I turned a baggy dress that had elastic across the waist into a cute off the shoulder top! I am so proud of it, and it is all thanks to you
when my daughter was in high school i would buy her dresses from thift store and have alterations done on them to create a new dress. (she picked design of course) when she would go to her dance she would always have an original dress and everyone loved it. she would later tell me..how many girls had on the same dress (they went to same store). 😊original
I have this skirt too, but in an ombre of pinks and in 2 different abstract floral prints. Anxious to give this design a try. Need breezy blouses for the heat of where I live. TFS!
This was absolutely gorgeous! So inspired! So lucky that you can pretty much upgrade anything!! Such a skill to have. Amazing. I'm gonna binge watch more of your videos. I loved this one so so much though. Beautiful. Thank you
You did a gorgeous job. This is one of the best transformations I have seen! Congrats. Such a lovely blouse, but a ton of work on your part and lots of thinking to refashion it.
You're so creative. I first subscribed to you about a year ago because I wanted to sew something of my own, but then I got lazy. Now, I feel like I can start sewing again. You should try transforming something into Mermaid tails. Whether if it's a blanket or a swimwear, it's so expensive.
Holy mother of Crafting!! just found your channel and I've literally watched videos back to back! I can feel all my DIY juices flowing and can't wait to try my hand at remaking things (little rusty at sewing ha)
Yeah...I could do it... If I start now, I'll finish right before summer...2020. But at least I'm enjoying watching you doin' it with such ease...practice makes perfect!!! Your ideas are amazing...you know it, right?! xoxo
I usually rarely ever comment on videos, but you are the most talented person I've watched here on RUclips. Please never stop making vids! *New subscriber*
I loved this video the transformation was one of my faveriout styles and i love your twist on the re-styling and i really like this style of top. Love, Love this. thank you Laura
That style is back in 2018... Here you can fund them in any store. I guess because are confortable and looks pretty. Here got another kind of fabric, or have huge flowers attach them. I got an old skirt in baby blue... My weekend will be busy with me & swing machine.
Coolirpa, I also have the same skirt, and because it is made from a see-through fabric, I left it in my closet for years in trying (hopelessly) to find an appropriate white short that could cover my undewear. After watching this video, I may want to reconstruct it into a shirt exactly like that. Just wait and see if my sewing skills is still good.
I used to think I was only person who did this sort of thing...I've been doing this for many years, and it's probably my favourite hobby! Personally, I would have had the opening on the frilly upper part of the top, at the back...btw...I think this may have been my skirt previously, as I had the exact same one. LoL! 😉
So cute! I love this design. Might have to make one myself if I can find a ruffled skirt, or maybe from scratch from my fabric stash. Thanks for sharing :)
Really impressed by your skill. I love thrift ingredients, love fabrics and clothes and creating outfits through thrifted finds, always have visions and ideas- But I don't know how to sew or anything. wish you lived near me !!!!!
So I was just casually watching, thinking how cool this is but then I realized...WAIT. You're April! You went to my high school! Haha. I don't think you know me but we have mutual friends. Love how you transform thrift shop clothes into fashionable apparel.
I own literally this EXACT skirt and have been looking for a way to up-cycle it! This tutorial is great!
Good luck!
Leah SmItH i also have this exact skirt and it's just been sitting in my closet for years
MyFictionalChaos mine too.
I have this skirt,but suck at sewing😐
I JUST ADMIRE YOUR CREATIVITY, I COULD NEVER THINK OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS hehe
Loved this video, who's come from snapchat?!
ikr!!! she is so creative
same!
I know I'll never ever be able to make this but DANG are they cool to watch!!!!
Same I'll never be able to make anything like that
April I always wonder, how do you estimate that you have enough fabric to make the whole clothing item?
I honestly just go with it sometimes and hope it works out. For the first design I mentioned in the video, another reason I changed designs is because I feared there would not be enough fabric to give it the look I wanted lol
coolirpa
aaah thank you ^^
i think after a while of doing this you have already developed a Feeling for this stuff
JoselleSings
I suppose, I might try once or twice ^^
You should do a "How to use a sewing machine" video because your videos inspire me to upcycle all of my old clothes but im sewing maching ignorant and would probably break it if i tried using it, and i can never get any of my hand sewed work to stay.
Same😁
Yes! EXACTLY what I was thinking. I can't even thread my sewing machine 😨
I would cut my finger off!
Taelor Young tt
I'm actually having classes about how to sew and in the first class we were encouraged to use the machine on a A4 normal paper just to see how it works
I need to do something with my life smh

I think this might be one of my fav diy you've done
The perfect Summer top :) So lightweight and feminine. I love how you kept the draw string ties for a decoration on the front
can I just say that this is literally one of my favorite channels I've ever come across?! This is AWESOME! So cool to see someone in my generation so others that thrifting can be a really great alternative to other clothing/retail options! Keep up the great work!!!
This should be an actual tv show lol
Yes😍
ikr 😂😂
yes!!
Thought about that too
jasmine crowley Great idea!
Starting to look like I was wearing toilet paper. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I remember watching your videos when I was younger. I always wanted to find your channel again.. AND NOW I'M SO HAPPY
You should make a video using all unused scrap fabric (if you have any) to make something...
Ooh, I love that idea!
Snapfam!! You inspired me so much that I even got my own sewing machine half a year ago. I have learned and made so much since then 💕
So sweet. I would have put the sleeve seam in the back, but I'd still wear it in a heartbeat😊
for sure there's no such thing as "clothing emergency" with those skills. You're soooo good! 👏👏👏
it would be cool to see a thrift transformation for clothing turned into home décor!
I know! Hoping to do one day! 😁😁😁
Life with Rachel you should make a video on step by step sewing tutorial for beginners then move on as we go along ...
I love your videos! I binge-watched all the episodes in one day and now I'm addicted. I love your style and seeing what these pieces turn into. Awesome channel!

I felt the same way!! 😄
You can make anything look nice, that's real skill right there, girl!!
You definitely are a pro. I know because i took some classes but your stitching and parttern cutiing shows vast experience well done
You inspired me! I turned a baggy dress that had elastic across the waist into a cute off the shoulder top! I am so proud of it, and it is all thanks to you
you literally just gave me the perfect idea to upcycle a skirt i havent worn in years - THANK YOU!
This is honestly the most entertaining thing on the internet for me right now. I love it. You're so creative.
my mom had a top like this back in the 70s! I loved it and still do!
when my daughter was in high school i would buy her dresses from thift store and have alterations done on them to create a new dress. (she picked design of course) when she would go to her dance she would always have an original dress and everyone loved it. she would later tell me..how many girls had on the same dress (they went to same store). 😊original
The messy gathers part is what would trip me up, I'd fuss so much trying to make it even but you just whipped it out so nicely.
I bought a bright, too big, orange skirt that I bought for a $1 and this is a perfect project for that!! Thank you!
Thank you sooo much for your inspiration April. It's just so amazing how you transform clothes. Thank you once again. Much love 😍 from Botswana 🇧🇼 😍 😍
Love the finished product! Great Transformation! Nice job explaining step-by-step.
😍😍 it's so pretty!! Something you'd buy in store but better. Another amazing thrifted transformation!
I have this skirt too, but in an ombre of pinks and in 2 different abstract floral prints. Anxious to give this design a try. Need breezy blouses for the heat of where I live. TFS!

I used to think I was only person who did this sort of thing...I've been doing this for many years, and it's probably my favourite hobby! Personally, I would have had the opening on the frilly upper part of the top, at the back...btw...I think this may have been my skirt previously, as I had the exact same one. LoL! 😉

You have so many great vids that i cant decide what to watch first.
Amazing. You're very talented. 😁

I love the end result it turned out great! Awesome video cant wait to see what you do next, maybe turning something into shorts.
You're amazing! I was wondering if you skip putting the elastic around the top? Since you then add the sleeve layer with more elastic.
Really impressed by your skill. I love thrift ingredients, love fabrics and clothes and creating outfits through thrifted finds, always have visions and ideas- But I don't know how to sew or anything. wish you lived near me !!!!!
Excellent easy to follow instructions. Your model was hilarious too :)
