RPCS3 - Major Speedup | Multithreaded Shader Compilation

- Thanks to kd-11, RPCS3's shader cache can now be compiled across multiple CPU threads! This massively reduces the time needed to resolve graphics when a game is first booted up without any pre-compiled caches.
The user experience for first playthroughs with games that have a lot of shaders is significantly improved. Even going from using 1 thread to 4 for shader compilation provides a huge improvement. Many of the clips recorded were using 4 threads even though higher values are faster, it is so fast already that the difference between 4 and 8 shader compilation threads barely noticable. So we expect all users who meet RPCS3's recommended requirements to see a major improvement!
These changes are now merged into the latest builds of RPCS3, just update.

@@Ita1337 i'm not that much sure, actually it wasn't looking like that befor this update, even on the first launch ! maybe because i use SSD and the "befor" is on HDD, but it was not that slow befor for me !

@@lainiwaku maybe because your shaders already was cached. This showcase is when you run a game the first time at it needs to compile all the shaders. And were some games require alot more compiling

Well, actually isn't for free at all. They are getting like 3k dollars per month on Patreon. I'm in the 10 USD level and happy to help them, they quit their jobs and focused in the emulator as a full time job, they are getting paid to develop the emulator, basically.

@@ScotsmanGamer Yuzu isn't paywalled, dude. The devs wanted to reward the supporters somehow and that's why they allow to try new version of the emulator only to supporters, you can always download the latest stable version.
In this case, devs asked for help so they can develop the emulator as a full time job, so they aren't developing this for free per se.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 They aren't pirating shit, you can come back to say that when you find they have direct links to copyrighted material(like games for example). Emulators aren't illegal and can't count as piracy by law.
The progress is getting the emulation near to the PS3, very nice devs!!!

In a lot of Games RPCS3 is already way better than a native PS3 experience. RPCS3 kann handle more than 30 frames and way better Resulution than the default 720p. And Shadercompilation close to runtime speed is crazy awesome.

@@lainiwaku ps3 and ps4 both have many exclusives, i think ps4 had some great exclusives that made some pc gamers buy ps4 (games like god of war 2018, uncharted 1-4 first three are remastered something, spider man, horizon zero dawn 2017) also gow 3 remastered is great
Btw, it would be great if they just gave backwards compatibility to all previous ps consoles at least in ps5, like xbox does

This is getting better every time I check on you guys, this is really important because the PS3 store is being removed soon, and many amazing games will be lost.
PS3 Store is only getting removed from the Web, the ps3 will continue to have access to the ps3 games on PSN and buying/downloading games from it in the future.

@@Crota0100 Not that I'm advocating it but the entire PS3 store is also uploaded online in PKG/ISO format. So if they do ever pull it completely, the games will still be accessible albeit illegally lol.

Chances are PS4 emulator will come much earlier. It has the same CPU architecture as PC, so there won’t be as much specific hardware to simulate
@@2012knp but what is the point. The ps5 does a fantastic job by upscaling ps4 games to 4k with a steady 60fps. i am actually tempted to buy a ps5 for this feature alone

@@musicismypassion7686 BloodBorne getting a patch/remaster/remake has been rumored for ages. As it stands right now, you can play it with unlocked FPS only on a modded PS4 with resolution decreased to 720p. Being able run it on more capable hardware would nice

@@PowerCreationist nope. ryzen 3000 series is help with by intercore latency. ryzen 5000 solves that.

When I saw this project, it was in its early alpha stages with nothing even being close to playable. Now I see this and I'm excited to finally catch up with all the PS3 titels I have missed!

Very nice.. I switched from an 6700k to an 5900x.. With the 6700k I always had missing textures and it was very slow.. I tried it with my new 5900x and the new shader compilation (deleted all before) It is compiling really well even better than in the video. I don't see any missing textures at all anymore in RDR and there is also no noticeable shader stutter anymore :)

@@nexusprime2487 Depends on your definition of budget CPU. RPCS3 heavily benefits from more cores, so I would recommend more than 4 cores for optimal performance. The Ryzen 5 2600 is a great option under $200 and has 6 cores and 12 threads. I personally use a Ryzen 7 2700, which has 8 cores and 16 threads. Generally any of the AMD Ryzen 5 and above will work great. The Ryzen 3 processors are typically 4 cores and 4 threads, so they will suffer in performance if you're using the CPU recompiler for RPCS3.
Look at Motorstorm Apocalypse. It looks so beautiful.

This quickly became my favorite emulator over Yuzu, even though I don't own a switch and I do already own a PS3 and PS4 so none of the games are new to me... You guys are doing a fantastic job, these games were never as fun as they are now with higher resolutions and proper frame rates. Can't wait to play the Infamous games and Red Dead at 60fps one day. >_
