Thank you for watching the video and your feedback.
Hi Nick. I'm in FL. I just had these exact units installed last week (38MURAQ30AA3 & 40MUAAQ30XA3) with the Ecobee "Smart Thermostat Premium". It seems to me that the outdoor unit has only been running at the same high? speed when it comes on. The inside unit appears to ramp up and down. Is there something I can check to make sure the units are configured correctly prior to notifying the installer? Thanks.
Thank you for watching the video. It is all about how the installer wired the system. With your configuration you can wire the ecobee thermostat to do 2 stage. They need to hook up both Y1 and Y2 outdoors and at the thermostat. The unit will run at medium or high based on the thermostat temperature settings. If the unit is wired with only Y2 it will start on high speed and stay there. I hope this helps you.
@@albertairinc.1140 Thanks Nick for your fast reply. I know they ran a "new wire" from my air handler outside to the condenser (replacing the original seventeen year old wire from the original installation). Inside the thermostat only has the Y1 wired. I was told both units would still be variable speed as decided by each unit independently. Even the Carrier literature shows the Ecobee as the preferred thermostat over the Infinity System Control. Your thoughts please?
Hi, if I have 120 volts only, will it be full variable system or 2 stage system? And does it change whether I get an ecobee or use the Bryant Connex Evolution Wi-Fi Control Black thermostat?
Thank you for watching the video. The heat pump condenser requires a 240 volt dedicated circuit and the fan coil also requires a 240 volt dedicated circuit. There is a Carrier single stage fan coil that will work on 120 volts. Also this system works best with the Ecobee thermostat. The Bryant connex evolution thermostat will on work with communicating evolution fan coils and heat pumps only.
How much would this system cost? And how much would the installation cost be?
Thank you for watching the video. I don't give out pricing or cost over the internet. If you are located in the Orange County, CA area I would be happy to give you an estimate.
Hi Nick, great video, lots of good info. We live in Oregon and getting this same system combination but the installer has it setup as bottom flow. The duct work for this house is under the house in the crawl space. The 40MUAA sits rotated 180° from the installation in your video. Does that seem correct? The condensate drain lines are not at the bottom, they are in the middle of the stack with the air filter above that.
Thank you for watching the video. Yes, the Carrier 40MUAA air handler can be positioned vertically, horizontal or downflow like yours. So, it is fine to be positioned that way. The drains will be in the middle because when the unit is in a downflow configuration the coil is in the middle instead of at the bottom like the one in my video. I hope this helps.
I keep receiving mixed information. What should the wiring be from the outdoor to indoor unit? The traditional 24v stat wire or the 16g s1 - s2 connection? What is wired on the Ecobee? y1 and y2?
I am interested to know as well. When 38MURA / 40MUAA are connected using s1/s2, is there a recommendation on wiring ecobee to 40MUAA using just Y1, or using both Y1 & Y2 ?
Wires to stat are R, G, O/B, Y1, C
Wire to HP condenser are R,Y2,B,C
@@albertairinc.1140 thank you for the info. Are you able to video the wiring on the ecobee, outdoor unit, and indoor unit for the next 38mura overview video? It will clear up a lot of confusion. Thank you again for the information.
@@Carnedelmercado I will try to do one on that, but there are several ways to wire the unit based on matchups with fan coils or furnaces or the different thermostat options.
@@albertairinc.1140 sounds good, thank you for that, one furnace and one 40muaa/air handler both with the ecobee would be perfect.
My neighbor installed one of these 6ft from our bedroom window, the fan pointing straight at us. It runs loudly for 3mins, off for 3mins, all day and night. How can I help suggest sound dampening solutions to them? Can it be wrapped with a sound blanket? Is there a ‘quiet’ setting?
Thank you for watching my video. This unit is typically not very loud when running. The noise of the outdoor unit will depend on the configuration and wiring of the system. It can be a full variable speed, two speed or single stage depending on thermostat being used and control wiring used for the various system options. It also sounds like it is short cycling. This means it is going on and off too often. The unit is either oversized for the house or it is wired wrong. Either way I would ask your neighbor to check those things and see what happens.
Hi Nick thank you for your video
I need to replace my AC and my furnace as well
I have 1576 sf
single story house
Would you recommend 38mura over the traditional AC units? Also I would like to know between those two about cost wise
Thank you in advance
Thank you for watching the video and I appreciate your comment. I really like the 38MURAQ units. They check a lot of boxes when it comes to my customers needs. I think that you would be very happy with the 38MURAQ unit and have been recommending to my customers over the traditional square condensers because it is quieter, more efficient and a more compact design. As far as cost goes they are typically less than the square units. I wish you luck with your new system.
Does the indoor unit run as a 2 stage if using the ecobee and not the communicating carrier stat?
This system will run as a variable speed system indoors and outdoors. It will decided what speed to run at by using it's temperature and pressure sensors within both of the units. The Ecobee thermostat just controls the settings and has nothing to do with telling the units what speeds it will run at. The Communicating thermostat will use the internal algorithms to tell the system what speeds to run at.
@@albertairinc.1140 very cool. I didn’t know the indoor unit could do that too.
So I currently have a Midea Air Conditioner:
Model #: DLCLRCH58AAK
Product #: DLCLRCH58AAK01
Split Air Conditioner 45ZR
Current Thermostat:
Carrier KSACN0801AAA Wired Remote Controller
With this unit, if I install an Ecobee instead of the current thermostat, will the air conditioner still run actual variable speed? or just go to 2 stages? I have an entire smart home and I really do want to be able to change the temperature, if desired, with an app. but i can’t currently do that. i am having a lot of trouble figuring out which wifi thermostat (if ANY!) will work properly with a communicating system (and not lose functionality). or at least work properly with my system.
@@michaelc.7130 If you install the Ecobee thermostat the system will run at two stages. You would need to stay with the Carrier communicating thermostat for the full variable speed functionality of the system.
@@albertairinc.1140 I'm a little confused now because two months prior to this comment you said this:
"This system will run as a variable speed system indoors and outdoors. It will decided what speed to run at by using it's temperature and pressure sensors within both of the units. The Ecobee thermostat just controls the settings and has nothing to do with telling the units what speeds it will run at. The Communicating thermostat will use the internal algorithms to tell the system what speeds to run at."
Can you please elaborate further? Thanks.
I have a question, i live in new york state, i currently heat with a 20 year old oil furnace. Is it possible to, or do you think an HVAC company would put an air coil (even this specific one for example) on top of my existing oil furnace so i can use it as a "dual fuel system"? you say you can do it with gas, but what about oil?
Thank you for watching my video. I don't know if that would be possible. I would recommend calling a local Carrier Factory Authorized dealer in your area.
220v?
Yes the heat pump condenser and matching indoor fan coil are both 220v.
@@albertairinc.1140 Are they both on the same circuit?
@@TenTwennyDollaBills No, they each have their own dedicated circuits. The heat pump condenser has a 30 amp two pole breaker with it's own dedicated circuit. And the fan coil uses a 15amp single pole breaker with it's own dedicated circuit.
Orlando area...getting a 4 T unit same model 3's..? wifi option is the best then...yeah @ $200.
any day now they should install. running new return line from far end of house..increase size of the long run return.... and tips....??
Thank you for watching the video. I recommend the Ecobee thermostat with this system. Have them wire it for two stage operation. Good luck with your project.
