I remember applying those tape stripes on the Fury and Monaco 2 door models at the Chrysler Detroit Lynch Road Assembly plant in 1976-1977. The 440 engine was available on the Police Special many ended up as Michigan State police cars in special order dark blue paint with the gumball red light mounted on the roof.
NY State used these and truckers called them Suncoco specials because of their yellow paint and sunoco blue stripes. This engine looks like a 400 block.
You know Roscoe might a had a chance catching them Duke Boys with that car.

Nice to see one of the more overlooked cars of the era still looking sharp.
I don't know what it is, but I have a sense of appreciation looking at this car now that I'm older. You can see there was still some decent styling along the body at the time.
I would be proud to drive this today.
I would definitely upgrade the wheels and interior though.

It kinda funny how we look at some old cars from our youth versus when we were younger and the cars were newer? Some of them we thought of as so so. Now I look at em and say damn I'd drive that.

I agree. I saw a 72 Plymouth Valiant/D. Dart made into a drag cage on a trailer and I said to myself that's pretty cool even though we made fun of Darts, Valiants and even Dusters back in the mid 80s.

I had a very early production 1975 Fury. It was equipped with a 318 V8 with the N-91 air injection pump which allowed it to pass emission tests without a catalytic converter. In 1975 and 1976 Chrysler had several engines that used an N-91 air pump, a 318, a 360 4 bbl, a 400 4 bbl and possibly a 440 4 bbl. A 4 speed stick shift was not offered as an option.
Those gauges ruin the interior, if I had it I would put the OEM back in this beauty.

1976 l had a exact car ( White ) . I was having the memory trip until l saw the dashboard 😤 and it turned the trip off . OEM PLEASE
@@327h7 440 with a 4-speed? I worked in a dealership back then and never missed the muscle cars when they came off the truck. I never saw a full size from this late in the 70s with a 4 speed. Was it the 833 over-drive transmission? Some of those were used with the 360 in the Magnum and Cordoba I think, but not many. I'm using one now in a 360 Duster, but I had to put it there. This would be a very cool car, and I to would buy it in a heart beat.
I never really liked these late model furys... until now! weird how reserved but somewhat sporty it looks and the color!

I remember driving around in a 72 351 ram air Gran Torino in the eighties and we all looked down on anything after ‘ 74 just shows how times change, I would love this Fury sitting on my drive!

I've got one of my dad's cars from back in the day, luckily at the time I received it I wasn't really interested in it and I left it alone and only drove it occasionally.
So 20+yrs later now it's basically unmolested.

This is one beautiful rig. This one would benefit from a stock gauge assembly & 15x7 Mopar Rally wheels. We love the big Chrysler’s! Sport Fury’s & Chrysler 300 series, Plymouth Satellites, & all of those ‘63-‘65 Plymouth & Dodges!

it looks like a cross between a Cordoba and Challenger with that steering wheel, and 440!

I had a 77 Plymouth Fury station wagon that I swapped a 440 pistol grip four speed into. If this thing was a wagon I'd be the first in line to buy it. Loved that car! I got the engine and trans from a 70 Challenger that someone had rolled.😞

Vince P Gall. ant Maybe nothing worked on it. And they were cheap looking. In this case....I wouldn’t have changed it but would leave it alone now. BTW with some Gas Crisis gears it would peg that 160

Like the white vinyl bucket seats, looks good with a console or with the middle cushion and fold down arm rest. The green interior and the white vinyl and green shag carpet door panels really highlight the 70s era styling.

I like the sleeper vibe this car has, the only changes that I would like to see are an original gauge cluster and more stock looking wheels, maybe the old police rims with the dog dish hubcaps.
@4:17 You can see a casting # and non EGR valve intake as well as a kick down stud and throttle linkage bracket for an automatic, it really should have two throttle return springs. The exhaust manifolds look different from the air injection castings that were on my '75 400 4bbl MdSP car, they look like good old HP castings with a rib along the middle. I say it needs a test drive!
Man ..I would tear the living crap out of this car ..I would be as crazy driving this car as the guy in Thunderbolt & Lightfoot with the rabbits in the trunk ...440 with a 4 bbl. and a 4 Speed could turn anyone into a Speed Demon !!!

I had a '75 Plymouth Fury Sport like this one except the color was what I called Sky Blue. It had a 318 2 BBL with an automatic. I had a dual glass pack exhaust put on it. It ran salty for a 318.

thx for showing. this one is a looker...it really does have a subtle vibe that pulls you in once you notice it. I was a lot boy at a Chry/Ply dealer when these were new, and even as a dopey teenager I thought they were a good looking car...cleaner looking than the Cordoba. course mostly they were 318 or 360's...maybe once in a while a 400. great car, thx again

Love your videos but these cars seemed to be languishing unsold as the youths rather drive 4 cyclinder foriegn cars and the generation that appreciated these cars are dying off. These cars need to be reduced in price otherwise they just make great RUclips vidoe content

Chris Wiseman yup, although the benefit of the more popular and iconic classics is there is a lot of reproduction companies for parts. Like the tri five chevies are very popular and so parts are easy to find for them

It’s amazing to me how a few subtle changes - adding some cheap rims and tires and removing an awful landau vinyl roof in this case - can completely change the look of a car! Talk about taking an obese “luxo-cruiser” from the malaise era and revealing its “inner-badass”.....👍

By the look of that one I'd say someone added the dress-up bits(wheels,valve covers,carb,MSD and such) to try and gain some attention...You guys liked 'em big in the 70's.

Seen one same color and same interior all but is was 318 auto in the floor, setting in pulaprt scrap yard about 4 yrs ago, good shape no rust it was in memphis tn...
Put the factory wheels back on it and you'd have a nice sleeper.

Factory police rims from the 80s with dog dish hubcaps. The cop rims were 15 x 8 and would hold the rubber that’s on the car now.

For 1975 the 400 cubic inch engine was the largest offered to the public by Plymouth. Also in 1975, all 2-door B-bodies shared a common 115 inch and all 4-door sedans a 117.5 in wheelbase, this continued to the last B-body in 1978 and was reused for the R-Body cars of 1979. 1975 Imperial Le Baron, Chrysler New Yorker, Chrysler Newport, Dodge Monaco Police Pursuit, and Plymouth Fury Police Pursuit came with the 440. Transmission options for 1975 were the base 3-speed manual with the slant six and all V8 cars were torqueflite automatics 904/727. Not the original dash. Still a nice hot rod though. Pistol grip 4 speed with a 440? HP exhaust manifold's - hopefully it has a dana-60 - (the factory required it 440, 426 with 4 speed, got a Dana rear end, automatics got 8-&-3/4 rear ends)
Wonder what torsion bar set up is under it? Hopefully not the transverse bars!! Actually is a good price for this, not many in this condition, & s little TLC & changes mods - that would be a cool sleeper. Nice find!

That's a sweet car. I would want a Dana 60 under that drivetrain combination. 8 3/4 large taper splines backed big block 727 automatics. Dana's were mandatory from the factory behind the A-833 "Hemi 4-speed." A longevity engineering concept.
My first car was a 1975 Plymouth Fury. I didn't like the car when my parents bought it because they gave my mom's car (1965 Plymouth Fury) to my older cousin. Then it became my car. I was in an accident (not my fault) and it protected me (and the engine) well. I miss driving it.
Nostalgia use to have one with my pilots bodies when I did my pilot training almost 40 years ago. We got the the thing for around 650 US dollar 💵
Everyone saved the 60s cars, but very few people save 70s cars. That thing is rare.

These 1974-78 Plymouth sport fury gran fury and roadrunner are unique and 1975 is the only year that you can get the roadrunner with V8 engine options before it went to the F body based on the Volare from 1976-80
That car is perfect. Speaking for myself, not to hot rodish. It's in between that and original. I'd buy it for sure!
Would love to have this sleeper classic. Only things I would serious change is the wheels and gauges back to stock and then a little TLC.
