  • Just a quick short video showing you what I mean by getting the light to reflect evenly across your scratch pattern.

I'm new to sharpening and I've noticed areas like you're showing and wasn't sure what they were. Thanks for tip.

Hey there! I love my gunny juice! When you sharpen/strop to a mirror polish, do you ever get ALL the scratches out? Just curious. My mirror polish looks like a mirror unless I shine a bright light on it then you can see very fine scratches. I don't want to over strop and loose the slight toothiness...wondering if you always have fine scratches when you shine a bright light. Thanks!

You can definitely get them all out. Most of the time I don’t remove them all because I would have to charge more. Still you can get out all visible scratches. I have even posted pics on FB a bevel magnified 200x and there were no visible scratches.

Question about that heel, right where you have it taped up next to the plunge. It’s hard for me to avoid the dreaded smile there. If I go too far back, I’ll either nick the plunge or get a smile. But if I don’t go far enough back, I can’t get the back of the heel sharp. Any tips? I use the KME mostly. I wonder if just slightly tilting the stone to work that tiny section is the way to go.

Sorry I missed this. I lay the stone against the plunge.
