  • When Elvis returned from the army, his movie career quickly began going downhill. The movies seemed to be getting worse and worse, but why was that? The people who knew him best, discuss exactly what they believe had happened.

Elvis lost interest and that was understandable when he realized the scripts were getting worse. He was treated like a cash cow and Parker shares a lot of the blame. He knew Elvis was losing interest but Parker really didn’t look out for Elvis the way he should have, especially considering how much money Parker was making. All he cared about was to keep filling his pockets. He was a horrible person. So so many people took advantage of Elvis’ generosity. It’s very sad. He gave the world so much.😥

I always find it laughable when people say Elvis was not challenged in his acting because of poor scripts. Any actor who earns every dollar through acting will tell you poor scripts are by far the most challenging of all projects because the foundation just isn't there. People who criticize Elvis's acting show ignorance in how feature films are made. This wasn't TV. In film, the acting you see on the screen is entirely the responsibility of the director, who will push his star for multiple takes with multiple interpretations searching for the ultimate performance. Elvis was cheated by his directors who would blame script and budget, but it is ridiculous as we have all seen amazing low budget films. Others ask why Elvis did not push harder for better scripts, bigger budgets, more, more, more, etc? The answer is because Elvis understood from a business perspective, none of it mattered. Elvis was already the highest paid actor of his time. No one got paid more. There was no higher mountain for him to climb. When Elvis did put in the extra effort, when he saw the final result, he probably realized most of his best work hit the cutting room floor because of poor direction. Elvis decided in his heart continuing to act under the current set up was no longer worth his efforts. Elvis chose to challenge himself again in live performance. None of this was driven by the Colonel. Elvis made the choice to become an actor, Elvis made the choice to conquer the field of acting as measured in dollars, Elvis conquered and enjoyed his reign as the top actor in Hollywood, and Elvis chose to leave Hollywood and to conquer the world of live performance, where he broke all Las Vegas records ever, and went on to fill massive stadiums with fans screaming his name, more than for any single artist ever. Elvis lived his dreams right up until the final moment of his life.
