This song is difficult for me to hear, and always make me cry - crying as I write this...Some years ago I was diagnosed with a chronic liver disease, which was slowly destroying my liver. In August of 2014 I woke with a racing heart, nausea and a terrible pain in my stomach. I had to run to the bathroom and proceeded to womit blood. That fall I was in and out of the hospital because blood vessels in my esophagus was rupturing due to the tremendous blood pressure my now destroyed liver caused to the nearby organs. I spent most part of December in the hospital, not knowing how this would turn out for me...Beside me throug it all was my wife and 4- year old son, visiting me every day - keeping my and their spirits up...This song always makes me think of what my wife must have gone through, and I'm so greatfull for all that she has done for me. I received a liver transplant in 2015, and that saved my life! Thank you for all your wonderfull and sincere reactions! Become an organ donor today - say yes!
I'm just happy that in Finland you're an organ donor by default. You actually have to fill in a form actively denying someone your organs should they be useful. While I haven't benefited or anyone I know has benefited from donors, I do believe that it is the absolute best way to go about it. The organs have massive value and should be given those in need by those who are not. That's just right. I'm happy you got yours in time, unknown person on the internet.
What a wonderful story, and I'm so glad you're out the other side. I'm also a big proponent of being an organ donor. I suffered kidney failure at birth and lived my first year or so in and out of the hospital and on dialysis the whole time, which as an infant is especially difficult. My dad ended up giving one of his kidneys once I was big enough to hold it, but I would've had to wait for a donor if he wasn't a match for my blood type. Being an organ donor can save lives.
This song will always have a sad place in my heart. My mom passed away in a long term nursing facility on March 29th of this year. I feel fortunate enough at least to have been there she passed on. My dad and I were right by her bedside. This song was running through my head as I stood there watching my dad holding her hand and rubbing her head. This song describes the exact look on my fathers face as she was passing. Now I notice that you guys did this video only 3 days before that day. Thank you guys.
I really love watching you guys have emotional reactions to music. I react the same way when I hear music. These are songs I have listened to for years, but seeing you both react makes me feel like it is my first time listening again as well. Keep it up.
This whole album and especially this song reminds me of happiness when my wife became pregnant and then the grief when the child died. 3 pregnancies ended the same way. Today we are divorced
Damn, that's rough man. I'm sorry for you. I have difficulties listening to this album too - for entirely different reasons. My girlfriend had a mental breakdown which involved being locked up in a facility several times. So disc 2 of this album is challenging. I'm lucky that she survived and is doing ok, even if our relationship didn't. We managed to salvage a friendship out of it though. But disc 2 definitely takes me to some dark memories of feeling she wasn't going to make it through. On the other hand, music is cathartic. It lets you feel things you would have otherwise suppressed. Devin Townsend does the same thing to me.
I think you guys would love The Dear Hunter, they are a modern prog band, dare I say the best prog band of the 2000's and 2010's but mostly 2010's, a lot of their songs are like this song, the song Life and Death would be perfect
This song always makes me cry, it is very deep and sad. You should see the live version on Budokan. I have it on my RUclips channel. The letter came to Labrie's mind When he saw a couple on a trip looking very happy, he wondered how sad it would be if one of them lost the other. The way that would change their lives.
commenting again on my request for The Astonishing album, it WILL push BOTH of your limits to hold it together. it is a multi-faceted story that I personally whimper at every time i listen to it, I use it as a release, please use it just as such if you choose to undertake the JOURNEY
The melody of Vacant is the backbone tempo and the feeling of Stream of Consciousness. Beautiful and outstanding pair of songs - probably the highlights of Train of Thought.
You're a rock, dude. Kel, quit staring into the camera, freaks me even more. Some of the other people: quit requesting new songs! Another avenue. Enjoy the song and comment on it

You're a strong role model for those with similar issues in life. Good luck to you and your family buddy.
Praise God... so happy for you!

saddest song ever written by dream theater. Powerful
I think "Space Dye Vest" is even stronger.

Super, superb Labrie...

Yes they definitely need to listen to acts 1 through 5. They will enjoy the story.
That is a great suggestion!
I'm with youu
Damn is "Disappear" a powerful song Got to stop making Kel listen to these DT songs :)
I don't think I've seen two people more in love with each other. Cherish that, it's so rare in such a tumultuous time in the world.
one of the best dt song
LaBrie's interpretation in this one is just absurdly good

The best dirge ever composed!!
I never got into dream theater too much. My ex boyfriend listened to them though.

The melody of Vacant is the backbone tempo and the feeling of Stream of Consciousness. Beautiful and outstanding pair of songs - probably the highlights of Train of Thought.
