Thank you so much Dyson for sponsoring this video!
HIIIIII! So I knew when Dyson asked me to do a video for their Supersonic hair dryer that I wanted to do something 'out of my wheelhouse' and my comfort zone, so I decided to give this Brigitte Bardot-inspired look a try! I hope you guys like this, I know it's not my normal type of style. I love you all!

Holy guacamole. I've never thought you looked like her before but mannnn are you giving me Any Pond vibes.
Hahaha I kinda thought the same thing 😂😂🙈🙈
You know what, it’s the eyeliner
Now we nEED an Amy cosplay
I was about to comment this!! so glad someone agrees!
My first thought exactly! Gorgeous!
ayyyy my girl Rachel getting them big sponsorships!
congratulations!
Totally agree 😁😁😁
same
I think she should be on a comedy on tv!
This is the only time I have seriously considered buying a Dyson dryer....
OMG there's a gold plated one!
Way too pricey...there are better things to spend money on!
It looks less damaging than a regular blow dryer. It might be worth it to some people who blow dry a lot.
I like to wet set, though. It's hot where I live. Wet hair in rollers or pincurls feels great.
It is a fantastic tool and a great investment!
Oml, I rlly want get it
You look a little like Karen Gillan with the make up and hair. I love it ❤️
Hahaha I thought so too!! I'm pretty sure she's done some 60's lewks
Oh my god yes! I was wondering who she reminded me of!
Yes!!! I see the resemblance too
Beat me too it! I totally saw Amy pond in the thumb nail!
I WAS JUST SEEING THE THUMBNAIL AND CAME HERE TO WRITE THIS!
Me: *sees this*
Me: She looks like Karen Gillan
Me: *reads comments*
Everyone: She looks like Karen Gillan
😂😂😂😂❤️
It reminds me of Ariel’s hair style when she is in human form ^^ love the 60’s make up 🤩
oh it does! that's cool
no Ariel talk, I'm still upset haha. Rachel looks good no matter what she does, it's rather remarkable.
Katie Duncan tty
@@TeenDream888 Upset about the new movie? I'm sure they will do a cute human hair style for when she is visiting Eric's castle
@@daryannolan8682 I think she's going to kill in the role, I just think Disney didn't respect her and threw her in a role instead of making a movie around her, which she totally deserves. They sort of threw scraps at her and said here's the chance of a lifetime to be a Disney princess, so of course she took it. In a way, I think she's being used, but regardless, it is what it is and we'll have to wait and see how the movie turns out.
So THAT’S what all those blow dryer attachments do. I always thought they were components to build a time machine.
Hahaha I mean it's very possible that's ALSO what they do. Dyson we're ONTO YOU
Amy pond!!! Bangs look perfect for your face shape!
Yes!
"I was pretty *blown away* at all the science behind this."
I see what you did there 😉
I was waiting for the badumtssss sound :D
Monica, Same!😄
the shirt itself is reminding me of Dwight from the office 😂
Hahaha I was feeling more like Ron at the Yule Ball but that works too #beetsbearsBattlestarGalactica
Identify theft is not a joke, Jim!
@@rachelmaksy Will, I don't see moll eaten lace here... I bet you felt better than Ron....
@@samanthawilder2417 dang it! i was going to make that joke but you beat me too it by 11 months lol! :)
Good for you for getting that awesome sponsorship deal. I love that they worked with you since you aren't a typical beauty guru. Your hairstyle looked wonderful, you did a great job.
The Bardot bouffant with curtain bags is my go to hairstyle. I sleep in rollers or pin curls and then use a bunch of hairspray or volumizer at the roots with my head upside down. I texturize and mess up the rest with aloe vera gel or matte pomade, lifting up pieces of hair and using flexible hairspray for extra volume and craziness. using a rat in the bouffant is really helpful to avoid the breakage. I don't know why I'm telling you this. You know how to do hair!
Tell me! I'm TERRIBLE at doing hair!
I used to do the same look all through high school in the 90's! Same aloe vera gel and tipped my hair upside down for that volume lol. A little flat iron helps it hold for dayz! Great look 👯♀️
Ohh, you live in the wrong century, hail the hair products!! 😂
You posted this so maybe I would have the balls to ask a hairdresser to make me into Bridget Bardot. Hehe🥰
How do you use pin curls to get long loose curls like that? Do you just do really huge pin curls?
In the 60's my mother had long red hair. And I remember seeing a picture of her with pretty much that hair style. Talk about a trip in the way back machine!!!!!!
Have to agree with some of the others on you looking like Karen Gillian as Amy Pond. I love how those lashes look on you.
I'm so happy for you getting a sponsorship!!!! A couple of ideas to make your hairstyling easier: you can use a smaller hair rat and also, as you're drying it, pin those sections to small cardboard tubes such as frozen juice containers or toilet tissue tubes. You are a true beauty no matter which decade you represent. ☮️❤️🌻
AMY POND LOOKBOOK!!!! PLEASE!💙💙 Sonic hairdryer! Put it to good use!
Serina Helene Ljung I second this! Please do this!
Love that you said it’s a ad right away. I hate when other RUclips channels call it a favorites or get ready with me, but never say anything about a sponsor. I watched the entire thing and thumbs up.
I agree! Not trying to trick anyone here :P thank you!!!
I specifically buy hair driers so that they’ll blow asbestos at me, it’s a neat feature
Isn't that the only feature you buy them for???
Convenient, I bet.
Honestly one of the best sponsors in a video I have ever seen. She is so professional and honest. I feel like if more people were like this when brands approach them that ads in videos would actually work. To be fair though I think Rachael is a very genuine person and that does come across in her videos. Congrats on the sponsor girl you deserve that money
That means so so much to me thank you 😭 I was worried this came off as too commercially so I'm so glad to hear that!
Rachel Maksy omg no gurl you come across as super genuine and authentic and professional and I’m here for it🙌
Thank you for explaining all the attachments! I never understood them!
Blow drying your hair upside down helps give volume without teasing
Ooo good to know! I'm very new at using a blow-dryer so any tips help hehehe
@@rachelmaksy I've been doing it for years to add some volume to my very straight hair. When I do my pin curls on the top of my head i do then with my head upside down, it weird but works for me
Agreed! If you have a natural wave or curl like I do, you can use a brush. You mainly want to dry your crown upsidedown. (From the Dr. Seuss hair styling book 😂)
I'm so happy the 60s/early 70s are making a comeback, they are soooo gorgeous ✨
This is by far my favorite look from you
Re:THRIFTING --I know that Goodwill has a social stigma, but its the best way to go on Textiles, and there IS A TRICK TO IT. You really have to make a list of them, go to all of them FIRST THING IN THE MORNING (all the good stuff is gone by 11 am), Etc. DONT DAWDLE looking in the jackets + bags, fly to the next one on the list for TEXTILES. There is always a STANDARD SIZE for curtains, so if you know 1 panel is 4 yrds, you will always know what you are getting. GW typically is SEASONAL so timing is everything!! There is a large 'Linen Bin' (or 3) at the back, typically. The GW usually sorts out anything dirty or stained, those go elsewhere or in the trash, so there is a very good chance of finding EXCELLENT linens, including silk pottery barn curtains, printed sewing remnants (and name brands!), 100% Linen curtains, huge white lace tablecloths, large wool pieces (in winter), etc. They also sell ROLLS (look around, those tend to be propped against the wall, you have to LOOK) of donated fabric. Sometimes the odd treasure (last summer I found a 7 foot Belgian Tapestry for 4$).
PRICES: All unlined curtains at GW are 3.50$ per pair (NOT PER PEICE, don't let the idiots who work there rip you off). If they are really super long or are thermal, they may charge them as drapes which are 5$. Large Jacquard Bed Throws often may also be found, and I have rescued those in immaculate condition and simply used a seam ripper to take them apart. Any blanket, quilt, comforter costs 5.50$ but : sometimes the print is so gorgeous, especially for brand name brocades, its worth it and you do get the double sided length. Typically single pieces from any bin (including the Linen Bin) are about 1.50$ ea (it varies by store). My suggestion is that you pick up a sturdy plastic storage shelf from Lowes (or shop your local yard sales) and stuff all the linens folded and clean, into that. Trying to store them in plastic boxes or bags takes ALOT OF SPACE. You would be surprised how much stuff you can fit, folded, into a utility shelf.
RE: GW - fair warning, I have found that the GW employees typically have less than a highschool ed and are not 'readers' (cough cough). For example, if they have grad highschool, they may not have taken the SAT. Etc. Consequently, assuming they speak English as a first language (if you are lucky) ; they probably are not 'genius' level in reading the cart menu posted, or knowing one thing from another. Do not allow the unwed mothers or whomever (its typically a fairly motley crew) to RIP YOU OFF because they are too dumb to know the price of things, or to know what is from a bin (or not). Just take what is in your basket out slowly : one thing and a time and TELL THE EMPLOYEES WHERE YOU GOT IT AND WAHT IT IS. (Slowly). This prevents mistakes and disputes, or double charging. Good luck: its a bit of an adventure, but can yield some treasures if you are diligent!
And FYI : If you have a Joanns Fabric Store close by you, USE THE ADS to keep track of when the SALES ON PATTERNS ARE. The sale price typically drops to 2$ or less, about once a month. You have to READ THE AD to know that.
Oh wow you look gorgeous Rachel! This hairstyle really suits you! Beautiful 😍
Aww thank you so much 😭❤️
bet u love to crochet me too
Clicked to comment "AMY POND". Turns out so did many in this comment section.
Love!! I'm getting married in ~1 year and this is absolutely my bride hair inspiration 👰🏻
omg with that hair, can you please do a lana del rey inspired look book?? its perfect!!
Yaaaaas sponsored content!! Love it when people make make incredible content without compromising their financial stability and income
I love love love it. Please do more 60/70s styles. I am into almost every decade from 1910 until 1970 and I would not want to decide on one. Neither should you. 🙌🏻🖤
Your videos are always so wholesome and relaxing to me. I loved this change of decade for you, it suits you! 😊💕
"I was pretty...blown away...by all the science behind this" xD
When you see your gurl got a DYSON sponsorship!! 🙌 👌👌 But seriously lovee this!! And the eye look you did to match the hair and era looks stunning on you
😭😭❤️❤️ thank you so much bb
It makes me so happy when you do 60s/70s inspired videos since that’s what I normally try (but fail) to go for. You trying things that are different and out of your comfort zone but still looking awesome gives me so much hope 😂❤️
Congrats on the Dyson collab!! Plus this video falls right on my bingewatching vintage hair tutorials so 😍😍
How come I never seen this video before! I'm absolutely in love with 60's everything. This is by far my favorite hair and makeup I've seen on you.
I still have my mom's hand mixer from the 70s! She grew up in the former GDR and got it in a package from my relatives in West Germany. It's a miracle that it didn't get confiscated at the border. But - 40 years and still working, this thing is made for eternity.
Brigitte Bardot has always been my hair goals, I love this!
Her styles always look so effortless 😭😂❤️
So lucky to be in RUclips when you uploaded, cause notifications would arrive tomorrow. Loved how you presented the sponsorship, kept it humorous and informative.
The look is quite lovely.
First like as well 😅
Heehee thank you so much!!
Love Bridget Bardot’s look! This hairdryer looks amazing. MAGNETIZED😲
This look is seriously fabulous on you! I love that it really is a “wearable” version 💕 You rock those sponsorships lady! We’re excited for you!! Congrats! 🥳
I like this filming location!
Thank yuh!! It's my sunroom hehe!
I also prefer 40s and 50s over the later decades, but damn, this looks amazing! 😍 Thank you for the tutorial! ❤
This is SO AMAZING Rachel!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
I think it's awesome they approached you because you do hairstyles that are not modern, so you can demonstrate how the dryer can be effective on vintage hairstyles as well as hairstyles that are not of any decade's conformity (cosplay). I THINK IT'S A PERFECT MATCH!!!!
Thank you!!! I thought so too! Although I was surprised they wanted me to do a video since I mostly have no idea what I'm doing 😂😂😂🙈🙈
Yes! I love this look on you. Also congratulations on working with Dyson! So happy for you 😊❤️
I truly watching this video and I love it! That's the hairstyle I love the most.
I love your shirt and your couch , the radio, everything
I am living for that bow! So cute
I'm living for you in the 60's!!! Stunning as always!!
Amazing, getting major Jane Asher vibes and loooving it
Cute hair. Wish we'd had a dryer like that back in the '60's. Spent many a night in nasty rollers just to achieve something of that sort. Oh! the pain. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to see you explore different decades. I really enjoy the 40s and 50s you do, but I love to see other styles and what you could find or create! I am a huge 60s-70s person and love the look of the time so if you ever want to explore it please do!
Rachel you are absolutely gorgeous, I’m a huge fan of your 40s looks (and everything else that you’ve done on this channel for that matter) and this is also stunning! You’re such an inspiration, I want to try this hairstyle out myself now 😍 thank you 💕
Awww thank you so so much sweetest!!
Your makeup is flawless in this video...love it! 💜
It's a great look on you! Congrats on the big gig with Dyson. It's great to see good things happening for you!!
Thank you so so much!!!
Yeeey new video 😍.Hair looks amazing and btw your make up is so lovely in this video 💕💕💕
This style is so enviable. If I had your type of hair I would try this style tomorrow.
soooo pretty!!!!! I've always been in love with that hairstyle!!you did an amazing job and you look beautiful in it. andd we need a tutorial for the make up as well!!
I love the way you did your brows!
60s is definetly my favourite era EVER! I'm definetly living more in my vintage gear and I'm so happy 😍
You need to explore 60s/70s style! This looks amazing on you! One of my favorite looks on you!
*As a 50s/60s/70s fashion historian you nailed with the outfit and the makeup but you would tease your hair more at the back to make a bigger volume of your mane!* @Rachel Maksy
You look FANTASTIC!!! Best you've ever looked. "Turned out ok?" it turned out amazing
Your videos always make me so happy!! Thank you for wonderful uploads and I’m so proud of you for getting sponsorships! 💗
You are so sweet thank you 😭😭😭
My favourite colour combination is forestry greens and gingery oranges... So naturally, this video is very pleasing to my eyes!
This hairstyle suits you. I love BB too. You look lovely.
As one who knows...I would instruct you to do the bangs as you did...curling under as you did...but for the finishing touch drying you'll want to take the very center of the bang (a 3 inch section) and direct the ends backward rather than down...rolled on the brush that ends up sitting on the roots, called "on base". This gives lift where you want it to roll with brush on base. Doing this will give a more preferred "swoopie-bang" effect. ;)
Love your videos and get a kick out of your talking dog "thought bubbles" too...so cute. Keep up your sewing...you're going to gain knowledge and even more skill if you do.
She looks so beautiful in this makeup wow 😻😻😻 i love all the eyeliner
You look so good with this hair do! It also solidifies me getting fringe during my next hair cut!
This hairstyle is SO CUTE😍
Your look makes me think of a cosplay mix of Jane from Tarzan and Ariel. I love it!
Omg your makeup looks so good! this whole look overall is absolutely gorgeous! ❤❤
This is so cool...my sideswept bangs are growing out and this style is perfect! Oh and congrats on the sponsorship!!
Love, love, love it all! I want it all. Shame I can't do hair very well, maybe I'll to a wilted, saggy look.
Love the 60’s style!! This looks really good!
This is such a cute look! I was watching some of your videos and I'd love to see you do some sort of video based on looks from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!
It's really amazing to me that you could do all of that with only a hair dryer! That's amazing and kudos to you for getting an awesome sponsorship!
What a brand to get a deal with!! So proud of you. 🙌 This hairstyle looks so great on you.
Thank you so much bb 😭❤️
The 60's look spectacular on you!!!
Man, you manage to make everything beautiful 💕 keep up the hard work
Omg this suits you so much better than your usual hairstyle.
Not just the updo, but also straight hair x3
You look absolutely stunning, and im a sucker for your 40's aesthetic but this is the BOP 😍😍👏👏

I love Brigitte Bardot's hair a lot generally, but it looks stunning in red too!
Your hair color is perfection, and you look gorgeous with that style! And every style! Gonna have to check ou that hair dryer since mine seems to be dying. Congratulations on the sponsorship! You did them proud👍🏻
Muppet Lashes!!!! Love it! Congrats!!! This was fun to watch, and I love my Dyson. I hope you like yours too!
And a star is born!
Yesssssssss A+ on the look and congrats on the sponsorship!!! You deserve it!
Thank you so much 😭😭😭❤️
I have a Wahl hairdryer my parents gave me for Christmas when I was 14. That was 22 years ago and it still works like the first day I tried it. I love it! One of my friends stayed over a few weeks ago and forgot her dryer. She has a Chi and she said that my old one works better than hers! Haha! I’m glad mine doesn’t have asbestos in it though. Lol!
Love!! Also, been obsessed with your new filming location!!
Love your makeup in this video!!!
I love your styles they look great. I'm trying to grow my hair out to try some vintage styles 😊
You look so amazing in the 60s style!!
Love this!! 💖 Congrats on the big sponsorship!!! Yay!
Super excited for you!!! That’s an awesome sponsor!!!!!!
Love the dryer and your hair looks cute!
That hairstyle is adorable!
My work pal is IN LOVE with the Dyson and longingly Google's it at least once a week (She thinks we don't notice but we do...) it's like "holiday or hair dryer...?"
LOVED this video tho omg 😍 it's fun to see you explore diff ears ❤
