    Not long got back from my third time in Thailand, twice in Pattaya. Did this run about 4 weeks ago for the first time, exactly what you did. Went to Bangkok and stopped in Nana on your say Peter. Soi 4, the Plaza, soi5 and the Cowboy were worth a visit. Then got the train down to Hua Hin again on your say, yep cool quiet town, the girls are there but not many guys. Planned on getting a ferry to Pattaya but there isn't one at the moment. Pattaya was quiet more girls than guys. Anyone who visits Thailand really should visit Bangkok for a couple of days at least, hustle and bustle. Really enjoy your content it helped me plan my holiday. 52yr old from the Black country UK.

    Thats always been my routine - out the airport and get my SIM card then down to the rail link, have a green tea at the little drinks cafe and then change ££s at one of the booths. Train to Phaya Thai and then short walk to the BTS. Cost to Phaya Thai in March was still the same as on my first visit in 2012 😊. Great video and I’m sure many will find it useful.

      It may be a little quicker but it seemed more of a hassle. I did the route you suggest last December. It is a short hike to the MRT station after you get off the ARL. MRT Terminal was crowded, several flights of stairs, etc. I ultimately made it to Terminal 21 with no problems. It seems to me going to Playa Thai station and jumping on the BTS is easier, although it might take an extra 10 minutes to get to your destination. Both ways will get you there.

    Never got a cab into central Bangkok, i've always used the Skytrain & Airport Link. Back in March i took a cab from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi and then the Airport Link, still quicker than the cab fighting it's way to the Asia Hotel! You can even get the State Railway of Thailand train to Hua Lampong if staying near there, Airport Link one stop to Lat Krabang and the main line is downstairs, and the SRT fare is only 6 Bhat! At the right time of day (around 07.20ish) you can get a main line train to Pattaya for 31 Bhat as well.......

    • @hassanalihusseini1717

      Yes, but the problem is that SRT trains do not go so often. Used to live close to Khlongtan station, but taking the train always needed planning ahead, unlike ARL/BTS/MRT.

    I find it amusing that people get off a plane tired, wait 30 minutes to get their bag, and then wait in a long queue to Super Rich to save 100 baht. Then another to buy a SIMM. Whilst waiting for your bag, exchange money and but a SIMM. No hassle, no queues.

      Yes, it looks to be faster to go to Makkasan and take one stop MRT. But... you have to walk from ARL to MRT quite a long way. So it is easier to go via Phaya Thai.
      And by the way, in my opinion that station Makkasan is the most confusing named station in Bangkok. On the ARL it is "Makkasan", on the MRT it is "Phetchaburi", on the Khlong boat it is "Asok" (while BTS "Asok" is MRT "Sukhumvit" and one stop further south), and on SRT it is Asok while "Makkasan" is one stop further to the west.

      I don't agree because 7/11 don't sell fast internet! I have purchased from 7/11 in the past and the maximum speed you can get is 50MBs whereas the airport packages are much faster, up to 1,000MBs! They have a greater choice and they know what they are doing as they sell these packages everyday…Sometimes it is a job in it self trying to get staff in 7/11 to know what you want. Also at the airport the packages are very clear to understand as everything is explained in English with photographs and clear pricing.

    How long can I stay in Thailand with a visa on arrival as a U.S citizen? Does anybody know this for certain? when i look it up online it says 60 days. Somebody please confirm.

    • @ThailandBound
      @ThailandBound  Год назад +1

      You can come in on 30 days on arrival and extend for another 30 days but if you apply to the Thai Embassy in your country you can get 60 days and extend that for 30 days in Thailand giving you a total of 90 days

    nice format having a Brit put questions to a native of Thailand. an extra dynamic for the viewer than the usual one sided views.

    What's the best hotel in asoke?

  • @scozander
    @scozander Год назад +3

    Why wouldnt you just go to Makkasan then transfer to the blue line and go to Sukhumvit?
    Bangkoks transit system is brilliant, so cheap and easy compared to anything in the UK, London excepted.

      Because if we did it the way that you suggested other people would comment and say why didn't we take the way that we actually did

    • @paulsz6194

      I think your suggesting you change from the overland ( BTS) system, onto the underground ( Metro) system. When arriving feeling a Little Jet-lagged and hauling your suit case along with your carry-on baggage, I think the last think you would want to take the most direct as, with the least amount of effort. Once you arrive at Phya Thai, you only have to go down one level, and walk about 100m to connect to the Sukhumvit line, 5hem once you purchase your next ticket, it’s only about another 10 min trip to Nana, or 15 min to Asok. You also save about 400-450THB over taking a taxi, and it only takes about 15-20min longer over a taxi. Lastly I too can confirm that the Money changer at Phaya Thai gives good, competitive rates compared to the rates at the Airport or around Siam BTS area

      I did not suggest taken the train, I just gave out the information in the video and explained to viewers that it was an option.

      @@ThailandBound Hi Peter, i know you didn't, i was referring to the xomme t from @Scottalexander5356 , who suggetsed the "blue" line. As all seasoned travellers to Bangkok know, blue is the colour of the underground metro line.
