Episode 137 - A fake Shure GLXD4 'Digital' Wireless Mic system with TWO mics!

Well - if you want a two mic system for less than 40 quid, is this worth looking at? It is NOT diversity and it is NOT digital, and of course it is NOT Shure, but could you get away with it? I think it's unlikely. It doesn't sound very good, operates on the 620-670MHz band - so NOT legal for the UK, and as it is not diversity, it splutters and pops and cracks as you move away from the receiver. The hand-held mics are all plastic and fragile and it really is not much good. If you don't know what digital and diversity mean, I've explained the essentials. The inside view of the receiver confirms my findings.

Wanted to say thanks for the vid. Noticed these on ebay this week and was suspicious when I saw they were a dual receiver when shure's GLXD4 is a single receiver, and also that there wasn't a battery charger on the front. The clone having a power button shaped like the hole on the original for the battery. I've also noticed what seems to be clone SM58 and SM57 mics aswell on ebay.

I'm often surprised, but this was what I expected. Dreadful. There again, two dynamic mics for £30 would be great, but perhaps I expect too much?

I put an offer on EBay for a Shure GLXD24 with 2 B58A’s before watching this. I put a low offer of $200 and I was surprised that they accepted it. I am 100% sure that it’s fake (says Shure in green on the receiver, no battery charger on the front, and packaging looks wrong). I reported to EBay and they denied my claim SMH. When I contact the guy he just responds with 30 day refund over and over. He will not answer my questions about authenticity. No way I’m paying this now but its going to hurt my EBay account 😢

I’ve been burned a few times but shure and sennheiser mics on ebay are very risky. I hope you get it sorted
