- This game has always had unbearable performance and graphics issues with RPCS3, but after recent developments from the team behind the emulator and spending some time on the settings, it is now finally playable!
Performance will be highly dependent on your CPU and to a lesser extent, RAM. This game looks great in 4K and is an absolute blast, with a good selection of vehicles, tuning options, a well modelled city and fantastic arcade style gameplay. If you like arcade style racing games, this is definitely worth a try!

its crazy the jump between the short time this came out and GTA V. Its amazing GTA V could run on the PS3
you can see they definetly had the next GTA in mind
even the loading animation when you select goto garage is almost the exact same as GTA V

I got an RTX 3050 mobile/laptop only equivalent to Desktop GTX 1050 they say, this game runs 16 ish fps, wouldn’t say its good nor bad, but the rpsc3 compatibility says Ingame so i think they’re doing alright
Its also possible its more CPU intensive, mine is intel 11400h so, and idk much about intel cpu other than Ryzen
I put most of the blame to Rockstar for not to just atleast porting this masterpiece to PC lol

RTX 3050 Laptop is way better than gtx 1050 desktop, i would say maybe the rtx 3050 lap is 2x the 1050 desk, who tf told you that they were the same.

id recommend playing at a lower resolution for a more consistent 60FPS
smooth 60FPS > higher resolution in terms of enjoyment
I appreciate the comment but in my experience with a 6900xt, resolution made no difference as it was cpu limited. Maybe a less powerful gpu could see improvement from lowering resolution though.
Can ryzen 5 5600x and rx6400lp run this game smoothly?I tried and only go to 30fps.

PS3 emulation is very dodgy at the moment and many games will need specific settings to run. To get a good idea of which settings for each game google rpcs3wiki and look for each game. These settings are just for this game.
How is the 30 fps performance? I'd much prefer a consistent fps
If you have a good cpu you should be able to maintain 30fps 99% of the time. There are only a couple of conditions that can cause a drop to around 25fps, very rare. Even so it's only for a moment and barely noticeable so it will be good for a 30fps experience.
what do you mean by that? if a system can run at higher than 30 fps then it would be able to handle that... regardless, if you want "consistency" then you can lower the resolution and/or play on better hardware
@@Zippy_Zolton lowering resolution will do nothing when it's CPU limited and limiting to 30 will provide more stable FPS as it won't be going from 60 down to 20

Got around 20 fps on a 5800x3d and 3080 ti, I assume the older ryzens can't run this since they lack the AVX 512 instructions.
Same boat here, 5800x and a 3070, avg 22 fps. Thought I was going crazy, but makes since with the AVX 512.
@@j_____________________ I tried it on xenia, and it was playable even at 4K internal resolution, but the camera shook so much I had to stop playing when I got faster cars
@@LazyBoyA1 Are you running canary, I found a config/patch that makes it run a little smoother. But agree it does seem like its going to be an issue once you go above 130mph.

when i try and put the spu block size to mega i get a error and it crashes the game and rpcs3... any idea why?

@@fample I would not worry, the performance increase is extremely small anyway, maybe a couple fps in certain scenarios but in others exactly the same

Sorry I can only suggest to check your settings match and your audio output device is set correctly in rpcs3
Ugh, I only got like 19-40 fps with i9 13900HX, 32GB RAM & RTX 4070, I guess AVX 512 is mandatory for a smooth experience ;-;
Hey is your HX on a laptop? I have the lenovo legion with the same specs as you and facing the same issues. Will emulation just not work on these processors?
@@kevinxavier680 Same exact laptop and nah, it's only affecting very heavy games on RPCS3 like this one, that needs AVX-512 compatible processors to run smoothly.
Most emulators work so amazingly well, you can even slap 60fps patches on most games.
I think the only games that has such low framerate that I personally tested is this and Astral Chain..

Yes but with more graphical issues, specifically lighting. Had green glow on reflections and other minor glitches, but performance was superior on xenia.
bro I tried on Xenia, but the camera is so damn crazy, it shakes like no tomorrow, do you know any fix for that?
the emulator is putting most of its usage on 1 thread. msi Afterburner shows total usage is 5-12% and that 1 thread is using 70-80% 3 threads are using 10-30% and the other 8 are at 0-10% any idea how to fix? used all the settings in your video. I have a ryzen 5600x 6 core 12 thread
Unfortunately the only thing you can try is switching between rpcs3 and windows thread scheduler, there's no way to adjust the core loads. RPCS3 is far from complete and I think Ryzen 5000 and earlier are not great for heavy ps3 emulation.

Man i got a decent gaming laptop(HP Omen 16 with ryzen 7 7840hs & an RTX 4060 @ 140W TGP). This game just refuses to perform well on my computer, dips to 20 fps at times. Even nfs undercover works @ 60 fps on all times. Heck, even Grid 2 works at fluid 30 fps. I just dont understand the lack of performance in this case specifically.
The open world nature is cpu demanding with all the ai cars and npc spawning etc. Even a high end laptop cpu will not perform like an overclocked 12700k because of power and thermal limitations so performance will definitely be lower for your device unfortunately. Technically it should run perfectly but as an emulator rpcs3 is resource heavy.

@@ayogoose3535 thing is it all depends, but for emulation a god tier cpu like this i9's will be very good, from what i seen intel users are pretty much ok, and at least 16 gb of ram but 32 woulmd be top tier, and at least rtx 2060 but ur good

I think at 60 fps the game runs 2x speed, unplayable.
With xenia there is a patch to fix it and make it normal speed 60 fps

@@djayy1851 i upraded my 109000k to a 12900k for this game alone. Big difference. I was geting like 27fps with a 10900k overclocked, with 4400cl17-17-17 ram (maxed out). Alderlake ipc and avx512 is game changing for rpcs3. I get about the same fps as the video with the 12900k.

It will work, but you will have lower performance than in my video. It should certainly be playable though.

I can't do the part involving getting the game onto pc as I don't have a way to screen capture my ps3, but once you have rpcs3 and this game on pc, all the settings are in the video

Hey it actually doesn't seems to be playable on Ryzen processor that don't support AVX-512 i'm on a Ryzen 7 5800X3D And it's totally unplayable i barelly get 15 fps on the same settings as you. Ryzen 7000 should be fine since they support AVX-512
Wow, a guy commented he was getting 15-25fps on a 3700x so there must be something we are missing. I know older AMD are not great for this emulator. Even so, a 5800x 3D should be noticeably faster than a 3700X. Sure you are not GPU limited and try lowering resolution?

Did you copy my resolution? You may want to lower that to regain fps. I was using a powerful gpu so maybe that's why.

I have only 60% CPU Usage and only 1% GPU Usage, I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 and an AMD Ryzen 5700x, and my performance is abysmall, topping at most 20 but just hovering around 7-15 frames per second, how can I improve performance.
Other than following my settings I have no idea why performance is so bad. You have 2 sticks of ram running xmp timings?

Weird, I turned it to default and the game got a consistent 30 FPS, and while I'm happy with that, All Player and Racer cars are forced white, only being able to see the true colors in the vinyl editor, which is really strange... What setting fixes that?

I think it depends on where you are in the city, amount of traffic and time of day. A more recent gpu is also much better optimised with vulkan

@@user-ew5vz2fo6v Ok great also remember I had AVX512 enabled which only earlier 12th gen chips and certain motherboards support. It can give big performance increases in cpu intense emulation.

I can not endorse piracy, but I could do one showing how I moved from my PS3 disc to PS3 hard drive and then ftp transferred to my PC.

My personal opinion is mc3, dub edition: remix as the best but they're both great!
I can't even hit 20 fps while driving mostly around 15 fps.
Even with custom config recommended by rpcs3 it made no improvement to performance.
There is some PC hardware that emulator simply hated even if it's high end stuff.

I'm sorry but I don't, my 12700k at 5ghz overclock with avx512 plays the game ok, but in some situations can dip below 30fps. I think the emulator has a long way to go for optimisation which is why it needs so much power to run these games.

It should do pretty well and be within 10-15% of my results, if you can keep it from throttling. Put your fans in jet engine mode lol

Definitely yes. But you'll be getting 1080p at best, most games run 720p or lower upscaled. It's nice to play at higher resolutions, but unless your rig is immensely powerful more demanding games aren't going to run well.
Got a 2070 Gaming z and I7 9700k and game is lagging as hell
Even if you overclock to 5ghz+ and get a very good kit of ram and oc that, it is around 30-50% slower than my 12700K depending on the game. Sorry, but the only way to play in that case is to run 30fps and it will still drop below that often, but with overclocking and 30fps, you should be able to play with more consistent performance then at least. I should probably add some perspective on cpu performance in my videos. It was not long ago I had a 10700K and moving to a 12700K was a big uplift for me.

@Nostalgion Yes, I had a 3800x before and it wasn't great for rpcs3. At 5ghz my 8700k was faster than that especially on rpcs3, so a 9700k overclocked to around 5ghz+ should be at 30 most of the time I'd imagine.

@Alien Telephone yes, I'd aim for 5ghz all core 1.34-1.36 volts if you have water cooling, see how far you can push with 1.25v if decent air cooler, just leave if you have a weak cooler. Also my 3600mhz c14 ram gains me 5-10% over a 3200c16 kit.

@Barebare kun I'm not sure how much faster the desktop cpu is but the extra power budget, water cooling, tuned ddr4 ram and avx 512 do add up to a big improvement I'd imagine

ummmm i get constant 10 - 15 fps i have an i5 10th gen with 6 cores is this cuz of i need to load shaders first and just let the game run for like an hour without doing anything ?
You can get frame dips as shaders compile but I think the issue is your CPU just not being fast enough. 10th gen to 12th gen is a huge uplift in performance and even my 12700k has dips into the 30s in certain conditions in this game.
