    There's a lot of fluctuation in mic quality and some questionable writing but I really wanted to wash my hands of this thing so enjoy Bitch.
    The "random" license plate names weren't so random after all as it seemingly was referring to the phonetic alphabet which I did not realize because I probably am cognitively impaired
    Also I deeply apologize for the war crimes I've committed by pronouncing "vehicles" improperly. I have learned of this grave mistake and am sure to never repeat it as to preserve the natural order.

      @@supertype1792 , hey, there is a difference between a challenge and being impossible to play. The Getaway, and The Getaway: Black Monday, as well as Driver 3, they are impossible to play. The pre-nerfed Midnight Club (IV): Los Angeles/L.A. Remix/Los Angeles: Complete Edition is of the difficulty level of the three previous games that I have mentioned, namely, they are needlessly at a high level of difficulty in the game. I do not expect SNES/NSFC Super Mario Kart level easy, but I want to at least have a race where I literally fail before I get off of the starting line. Moreover, the whole point of Midnight Club was to have a racing game that was accessible to the average person, and not to elitist snobs. If I wanted a racing game like that, then I could play some iRacing or the rFactor racing games. However, if one MUST have a difficulty mode like that, then, at the MOST, should be considered as a hidden unlocked difficulty level in the game.

    I think you got the part about unused dispatch lines wrong. Those "predetermined names" are in fact the APCO radiotelephony spelling alphabet used by the LAPD (same principle as the NATO phonetic alphabet), meaning they would have been able to read out ANY custom plate you entered - e.g. "ABC 123" would have been read "Adam Boy Charles 1 2 3". The same words can also be found in the GTA V dispatch audio files, and while they were also left out of the game, some modders have been able to use them in police-oriented mods.

      I'm sad because I was too poor to have xbox live when this game came out so I never got to play the multiplayer while it was still active, despite that I've played through the story like 4-5 times throughout the years, last time I played through was 2022 and the game still holds up incredibly well. It looks good and runs buttery smooth on my Series X, I just wish the multiplayer still worked because of all the times I beat the game I could never get the R8 without multiplayer, it's not fair that GTA4 multiplayer still works but not MCLA.

    • @bearrett50kal17
      @bearrett50kal17 Год назад +1

      @theyretryingtoweaponizeit1847 Sure you can't drift like in Forza Horizon or NFS games with drift physics, but if you do max upgrades, stock tires, and manual gear box you can do some pretty big slides, I only ever played single player MCLA but if I figured that out on my own I'm sure there were people doing it in multiplayer. Also GTAO has horrible drifting physics yet people still have "drift meets", so it probably existed in the days of MCLA multiplayer too despite the physics not being great for it.

    • @xanriex
      @xanriex Год назад

      @@bearrett50kal17 Damn I wish you did experience the MCLA online multiplayer. From my experience of playing online from the beginning and last days of the servers there were good and bad from it. The good was just like PerryLakeAutoHouse has said you can make a lot of friends, join car clubs(made by online players) who compete against other car clubs(drag race, powerslide(drift), circuit elimination, etc) or just show off their car design livery skills, cruise together, fool around and glitch into buildings. The bad experience I've dealt with is when some online players use code modding in online lobbies to create indestructible Austin Martins or Police Cars by teleporting to you and hitting you around(in general annoying you), also they would pull out a modded car to freeze your xbox360. Aside from abusing the mod powers there are players who make some sick looking cars that glow from the body of the vehicle to the rims, ride height of the car can be lower than the original settings, and you can mess with the performance(handling, acceleration, handling, nos) of the vehicle. There was a lot of good memories of playing MCLA, I wish Rockstar brings back Midnight Club.

    I don't often comment on yt vids but I just wanted to drop some praise - I absolutely love the soundtrack to this vid (X, No More Parties, love for the Pharcyde, I think I heard Bad Religion in there?) and the overall secondary focus on music - the interview with Kid Static especially was super fucking cool, and totally unexpected for this kind of video. I feel racing game soundtracks (most especially in this era and subgenre) don't get enough credit for their impact on overall presentation, and especially, their ties to respective subcultures and how that ties back into car culture. i haven't watched the full interview yet, will definitely be checking it out, but in the meantime I hope you wind up making more content talking about music and the music industry. Cheers!

  • @technorunner1
    @technorunner1 8 месяцев назад +7

    For the dispatch audio, the phrases such as "Zebra, Ida, Adam", are the LAPD's phonetic alphabet. The audio wouldn't trigger if you spelt out those terms on your plate, but rather they're used to spell out individual letters. For instance, if your plate was "Wazz", the dispatcher was supposed to spell out your plate by saying "William, Adam, Zebra, Zebra". There were probably numbers recorded that never got added to the game due to the feature being scrapped. It was most likely scrapped due to it potentially being unnecessary, despite being very realistic, or it was too difficult to make it work properly. I know in GTAV, some LSPDFR addons have this feature.

    Shame that music licensing isn't negotiated with the musicians in person, but with the licensing companies alone without letting the original musicians letting know. I was thinking that many musicians or artists were like "pay me again to put the song in your game for next ten or whatever years", but now it's good to know it's the damn' licensing companies that do these damages for the gamers like myself.
    Some songs are really part of the game or the game itself, like "Homicide" by Praire Cartel on Radio Broker in GTA IV that gets scraped, and I think this needs to be more widely known than it is now. Sh** , hitting people on the streets with your car while this song is going on is one of the most memorable moments in the game you can get, and now after 10 year update, it's removed. I'm glad I played 1.00 versions of the games on my X360 back in the day and now on X1X or even XSX, it's not the same experience as back then. Music is sometimes pretty important to get the feeling of the game. F*** the licensing companies.

    a really dumb but maybe plausible theory on why the cut south central dlc music may have been censored despite the explanation of them just being for the developers, might also be(or in conjunction with them being meant for the game obviously) because of how the ESRB rates games and also DLC at least in the 2000s was by way of reviewing video footage of the game being played by the developers supplied to the ESRB by either the devs or publishers, considering that first of all, the footage is usually before final builds are compiled(due to marketing reasons), they probably thought that the ESRB was so dumb they couldn't tell the difference between placeholder content and stuff actually meant for the final T for Teen release so they probably just hastily went and censored these songs even if they may have not even been planned for the released DLC, though there also was general confusion on what was even allowed on T rated games in terms of swearing especially with songs and in general the T rating was a confusing mess and the recently introduced E10+(at the time, fyi E10+ was first introduced in 2005) was a confusing mess as well so there were a lot of growing pains

      Lol too late for that I'm pretty sure the London map is in MC2. London is generally a terrible place to have a racing game, but only because Devs tend to fixate on the ultra narrow streets of central London for some strange reason. There are genuinely roads with street racing potential here like the A13, A12, A406 etc but these have little value in terms of marketing because people want to see the landmarks like big Ben. As such any attempts to make a London map always end up on unusably narrow roads or they widen the track so much that it no longer feels like a place that exists anymore.

      Another thing with the time trials is that if you set the best possible time on your first run (a time that you could never hope to beat) since there’s three trials the game still expects you to beat that time, and then beat your new best time again, which could very easily be impossible.

Nowadays, as I got a brand new disc, I try to beat them with some of the slowest cars. I could very easily beat many races on the hardest difficulty with the 240SX. Some races are still not so forgiving of that though at least.

      Bruh, Sony has something special on their hands but they're too damn dumb to realize it. The DriveClub engine sitll looks better than anything else on the market, it has a day/night cycle, it has a perfect sense of speed, all it needs is AI traffic (which is easy as we can see with Assetto Corsa mods), ray-tracing and unlocked framerate. It already has bikes too. And it's the perfect balance between arcade and simcade.
      Idk how Sony is so stupid to not realize if they made an open-world street racing game with cars and bikes set in Japan with Driveclub's engine, they'd make a TON of money. Everybody wants the elusive street racing game set in Japan (just like everybody wanted the stealth game set in feudal Japan, which they made with Ghost of Tsushima and now Ubisoft is finally going through with that after GoT's massive success), and the graphics alone will get the game so much attention.
