There is No midnight club game that is bad,all of them are gold, the first game was a good introduction for lauch title, the 2nd one is really good but why is it like underated?,the 3rd one is the san andreas version of racing games(because it was made or published by rockstar and it was golden),la was a good game for the modern age of midnight club
From my understanding some of the people who worked at rockstar indeed quit and some also got fired after midnight club L.A was released which was the sad part rockstar didn’t think making another midnight club game because it probably won’t sell as much
As someone who is relatively new to racing games overall, I've always heard good things about MCLA and how fond people are of it. It's sad that such a game was left to the pages of history considering the amount of people who would like a remaster or sequel of these titles. Great video as always, it's always nice getting to know more about games I don't know about. Props to you and your editor for this cool video!
It is a good time to bring this franchise back. Racing games have had a small resurgence. Forza is on top, NFS is finally trying to do something, The Crew has the best maps for now, Test Drive Unlimited, the former king of the genre, is returning. All of these franchises have their strengths and weaknesses, but Rockstar makes games like no one else can, and when it comes to open world, they are on top of everyone.
Midnight Club Los Angeles is such a gem of a game. It's one of the reason I decided to start a RUclips channel, and only increased my love for cars more. It does so much that newer games can't don't do today. I still play MCLA to this day and is exactly how I remembered it. The day where it will be completely perfect to play on RPCS3 and Xenia is where all racing fans achieve inner peace.
I remember playing this wayyy back on the Xbox 360 and feeling like it was an amazing looking racing game. It even included the all new Chevrolet Camaro (the famous Transformers car) and I even got to own one for a bit some years later. That car was all the rage in a society with a huge car culture.
Man, you ain't lying. It feels so good to play these games on the XBOX Series X. I'm so glad Microsoft gave XBOX backwards compatibility feature and quick Resume is amazing. Midnight Club Los Angeles and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 are backwards compatible and so many other great old games.
I remember buying MCLA on a whim because it was cheap on an Xbox Sale. Knew nothing about the franchise as a whole as I'd only really been into Forza Horizon 1 at that point. One hell of a surprise to me, still some of the most fun I've ever had playing Racing games.
The Midnight Club games were great, but it always felt like they were in the shadow of the Need For Speed Underground games. Street racing was huge, with the release of Fast and Furious, and that game captured it early on.
Midnight club was actually a defining piece of media in my childhood. It is single handedly the most nostalgic franchise for me. My family at that time in the early 2000s we're building cars for drag racing and my step father made sub woofer boxes and installed sound systems for people, so I was actually a kid when the DUB craze was in the car scene (rhe magazine even came in the mail in my house) i saw cars with dub plates and spinners and shit in real life all the time bc these we're the car's people wanted the biggest banging systems in... So its no surprise that midnight club 3 DUB edition was constantly in my PS2 as a kid. My parents had all 3 though so i experienced them all, i still look back at 2 fondly and remember using the cheat code to get all the cars then driving for hours around the maps. As a kid who was surrounded by cars and loved them, the midnight club was my go to game. It also helped that it had all the cars i got to see in real life. Nfs was cool and all but I'm from the south where it's more old schools and SUVs which was most of dub edition. Not long ago i went on a 2 day hunt for the dub edition remix for the ps2 I have. You'd be surprised how rare it is to come by now, atleast where i am. No retro game shops had it and no one i knew had it. So after calling and going to every game shop in my vicinity I finally got a hit, the employee i called at a game shop all the way in Jacksonville (NC) 2 hours from me had it at his house but not in the shop, but he was willing to meet up at a foodlion and sell it lmao. So. I drove the 2 hours with my friend and a fresh 20 dollar bill, picked it up and brought it home... Well... It was fuckin broken and wouldn't go past the loading screen.. shit made me wanna break everything lol. So the third day trying to play DER i had to get it resurfaced at my local retro shop.. put it in it worked like a charm. I played every night after work for like a month and a half NIGHTLY. i typed all of this to say.. midnight club will always be my favorite and the most important rockstar product till this day for me. All of them from 1 to LA. The environments, the customization, the cars, the true street racing feeling you get flying through highway traffic and alleyways, the sense of speed, the soundtracks, perfect 10 out of 10 video games and I'll stand by that forever. (Well the first one was a bit barebones and rough, but still fun and nostalgic as hell nonetheless)
One of the best racing games i played. All you had to do, to get the 1M deal done fast, is to just use the DUB Lambo for the rest of the game. No need for those low cost, and high risk-high reward sport bikes
I recently finished this game after rage quitting a year ago because I lost a tournament on the last race on hardest difficulty... Yeah... But I still love that game
I personally liked the gameplay of the 2nd game more than the ganes after just because of how hard but engaging it was, especially towards the end of the game.
MCLA, DUB Edition, and DUB Edition Remix were probably my favorites, along with NFS: Underground 1 & 2 even though those were EA. I miss those games. I created some banging cars 😔
I recently softmodded my old PS3 to just play midnight club LA ... God I grew up with that franchise and it's very sad R* isn't making any more games in the franchise
the game was super cool to me at first but somthin happened made me change my mind and say it’s trash, it’s the way you can’t lose the cops easily in it and the few money you make from the races.
I played every Midnight Club (except the first one) and it’s my favorite franchise. If Rockstar won’t make another MC, they should sell the rights to another developer so they can develop another installment maybe as a mobile game
Midnight club will always be one of the greatest racing games of all time, they should've never let it die. Ridge Racer, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Burnout, Test Drive, they are the kings of Racing Games because of their greatness others took inspiration and followed, so they should always be around, I believe they should port them to Android, they will reach a wider range of audiences, like need for speed is doing.
If they would make the next MC game with the physics of MC3, but have the car list be a combination of GTA, old MC, & Mafia game’s R* lore friendly cars, they wouldn’t need to pay licensing for anything.
It's a shame from rockstar to have a greater franchise than all rivals And it abandoned like that Some of them need to be back to live : smugglers run an creative idea planed to massive fun game Midnight clup : NFS and any streat racing game killer MAX payne Manhunt : the mose bloody and psycho terrifying thing you will experience And other's need a sequel BULLY L.A noire: so good game have some viebs from 2k mafia series ONI: an robot girl or something have a gun and fight any creature she face State of emergency: like it named it's dead rising but before dead rising ( have a mechanic's and the same gameplay style of Dead rising) But now sadly rockstar have become an EA twin just reddead and GTA
Runs great on Xenia emulator, as a PC gamer I only recently had the chance to pick this gem up :) Ive listened to the soundtrack way befor being able to play it, the overall vibe is great. A racing game doesnt need a great story, I think the smacktalking the drivers do when racing is enough for me :) Having only waypoints is something else, If you get lost its pretty dumb if a whole turnament needs to start over again...
The cops were SUPER annoying. Don't take damage and continue to pursue you so long as there is a straight path towards your direction... AND if you evade incorrectly, the pursuit will continue even though they can't see you, so you have to TURN AROUND AND GET THEM TO CHASE YOU AGAIN.... Absolutely retarded system. Being able to run during ticketing sequence always gave a good laugh though, but they pretty much ruined the fun of free roam unlike NFS: MW where you wanted to get pursued more often than not because of the eb and flow of pursuits in that game.
If all it ever took was to bring in record sales to strike Gold in the gaming industry we would still have a Midnight Club franchise however sales just weren't enough in R* eyes and now their eyes have grown Bigger than their mouths they see the Midnight Club franchise as a insignificant "risk over reward" compared to the GTA franchise just like EA with the Burnout Franchise.
Midnight club was always clunky and there wasn't much fun to be had for me, it would just be midnight club online nowadays anyway. Buy shark cards or grind 300 hours for something you regret buying either way.
I've been playing Midnight Club LA on my Xbox Series X and I love it! I only have the standard version, but I'm looking to getting the Complete Edition soon.
Obviously there’s a bigger variety of cars in gta, but the ones in midnight club had waaaay more customization AND they were legit cars. The races in gta compared to midnight club are lame ash. Feels like you never even speed up in gta, unlike the high speed adrenaline midnight club gave you.
This and tdu2 is what I choose every time over any horizon game past the first two, why? Because they actually have progression! You start at the bottom and work your way up, grind or no it's far more interesting than having supercars plopped in your lap because you won a single race. Only complaint I have about mcla is the traffic can be a rage inducing ball buster at times.
Ah, Midnight Club, the racing franchise I have mixed feelings for. As good as those games were, I find their difficulty just too high to properly enjoy them, personally. I know I abused save states when I did 3 Remix lol. Truly a godsend, was never going to finish it otherwise. Of the bunch, I have to say MCLA appeals to me the most, the dialogue, story, physics, all looks really good. It seems to have aged remarkably well - so much so if it came out today, damn, it would literally mop the floor with the competition, not even a debate. Despite their high difficulty, I wish we'd see more installments in the series honestly, although I doubt the competence of the modern-day Rockstar which has all but abandoned all their IPs apart from GTA, which they've milked to death and then some since. They're just not the same they used to be. If a new game were to be made, it probably not only wouldn't be as good, but it's also agiven that it'll be monetized to shit. As weird as it sounds, I think a remake or a sequel could be expected at some point, since they're remaking Max Payne alongside Remedy and a new Alan Wake is coming, of all things. That is nothing to be hyped for from my point of view, after how poorly they treated the GTA remasters, their biggest franchise after all. I certainly wouldn't expect Capcom levels of quality when it comes to future non-GTA based projects by them - and even if the games end up being good, once again, they'll be monetized to shit anyway. So which one is worse?
LMAOOOOO, People still play this game to this day so I wouldn't call it abandoned All the proof of people playing are on my videos g Plus we have a discord server for MCLA members So trust me Midnight Club Los Angeles is far from abandoned
Ah, a game from the time when R* actually released games. Things like the cop system where you can drive off when getting ticketed or the different types of events (e.g. car deliveries, pink slip races), as well as a decent story (especially in terms of racing games) truly made this game awesome!
@@wildnugget1675 I keep forgetting that it's indeed Take Two who is the publisher, although the point still stands: they didn't just work on one single game (GTA V/online) while leaving all the other franchises collecting dust.
@@guitarboyjeff I know why it's not done (that should be quite obvious), I'm just personally sad about the fact that we may never get anything outside of GTA and Red Dead anymore from R*.
Hello dove, in MCLA, the tire profile, ride height alongside tire dimension can actually affect your car's grip. Modifying them can make your car grippier and helps to reduce body roll for better cornering
@@alexiscardoso1413bigger and wider wheels equals more surface area and bigger contact patch, lower ride height means less body roll and lower profile tyres means less tyre roll which all equates to speed
This and MC3 also do something that is weirdly lacking in NFS: Unique custom parts. The game managed to license only a few bodykit options, so the rest are entirely made up by the devs, some of which look rather good too. So.. why doesn't NFS do this? The bodykit options for the NSX NA1 and R32 in Heat was rather disappointing, and now they lost all licensed parts for the R34 outside of the Nismo kit. They used to do mostly fantasy parts, so why did they stop all of a sudden if the car customization is meant to be a major selling part? If you can't get real kits, then make up your own that take inspiration from real ones.
Worst thing is they used to as well, the BlackBox era NFS games had fantasy kits for all their cars and I think it’s the biggest reason why the customisation felt so deep and detailed back then. Nowadays I feel like I only have one or two options for most cars in most games and it will inevitably look like everyone else’s
@@g2jxGhF5G8z1gL7S Almost all of the custom skirts, roofscoop, hood, spoilers, bumper and body kit designs in NFSU2 looked ugly and haven't aged well IMO.
Instantly.... Hundreds of childhood memories come flooding back.... I loved playing this wayback when I've always wondered whatever happened to the Midnight Club franchise
Ohhhh how I wish Rockstar would give Midnight Club another go. 😢 I mean people love Rockstar's games, they've probably become the single most trusted developer when it comes to the quality of their games. And thats only become more true since 2008. So I dont see why they wouldnt do it. There's absolutely a market for a Rockstar Racing game and I would probably get it on Day 1 for the reasons mentioned above. Thanks for giving me nostalgia feels, Dove ❤
@DoVe_7 one fact, when you write "NFSSUCKS" on the license plate, police dispatcher would say "Need for speed sucks" which implies NFS undercover sucks. so this also results that mcla beat undercover both financially and receptionally. i really liked this game when I've first played in xbox360 but really frustrating just bcuz I'm not getting used to it
I find it weird that you included Max Payne 1 & 2 as Rockstar games. These were made by Remedy. Rockstar did port and publish the first one for consoles, and publish the second one, but Rockstar sure didn't develop these games!
I wish they would do just one more midnight club 😞 just like midnight club 2 where we can race in la france & tokyo but just modernized & a bigger story line
What do you think of about the Midnight Club series? Let me know your opinions and have a great day! ❤
Nice
Midnight Club LA is my favourite racing game of all time next to Blur and Burnout Paradise. 🥰
midnight club needs another game
Funny thing that i never finished the game still after years XD
Still waiting for return
As someone who got into MC just this year, it sucks it's dead as a franchise. The racing genre really needs good games like this to exist!

For a late 2000s game, the grapgics of MCLA really have aged very well. This along with GTA 4 proved on how advanced Rockstar Games were at that time.
As someone who is relatively new to racing games overall, I've always heard good things about MCLA and how fond people are of it. A thing lot of people doesn't mention that, Angel Studio was responsible for porting Resident Evil 2 to the N64

If you loose your car in a pink slip race, the rival will use your car in races. You also have the option to win your car back.
Never knew that
@@gnrtx-36969I purposely lose pink slip races to race my own vehicles. I’ll race and focus on clean driving and style driving
Ah, a game from the time when R* actually released games. Things like the cop system where you can drive off when getting ticketed or the different types of events (e.g. car deliveries, pink slip races), as well as a decent story (especially in terms of racing games) truly made this game awesome!
@@purwantiallan5089 Exactly, their portfolio was so much healthier than it is today...
@@mrxbas lil bro knows nothing about economy and whips out word like "healthy portfolio" for a company under an umbrella of another company. Roflmao
@@wildnugget1675 I keep forgetting that it's indeed Take Two who is the publisher, although the point still stands: they didn't just work on one single game (GTA V/online) while leaving all the other franchises collecting dust.
@mrxbas Doesn’t sound like you fully understand how game development works.
Could you elaborate further? I need to know this info
Wide tires 🛞 = more grip, lower ride hight = less body rolling/leaning through corners.
@@vaulthunterfromterra4053 to add to that, lowering tire profile can also improve grip in most instances
@@alexiscardoso1413bigger and wider wheels equals more surface area and bigger contact patch, lower ride height means less body roll and lower profile tyres means less tyre roll which all equates to speed
he's not wrong ^
This and MC3 also do something that is weirdly lacking in NFS:
Unique custom parts.
They got lazy just like the madden developers
@@g2jxGhF5G8z1gL7Sit's not that deep
@@g2jxGhF5G8z1gL7S Almost all of the custom skirts, roofscoop, hood, spoilers, bumper and body kit designs in NFSU2 looked ugly and haven't aged well IMO.

Ohhhh how I wish Rockstar would give Midnight Club another go. 😢
I mean people love Rockstar's games, they've probably become the single most trusted developer when it comes to the quality of their games. And thats only become more true since 2008.
So I dont see why they wouldnt do it. There's absolutely a market for a Rockstar Racing game and I would probably get it on Day 1 for the reasons mentioned above.
Thanks for giving me nostalgia feels, Dove ❤
I feel like eventually they’ll do a remaster or something similar, all their money right now is going towards testing things for GTA 6
Midnight club 3 and Los Angeles will always be the best racing games I’ve ever played period.
I hate rockstar they didnt givea damn about pc players. i just wanna play one of these masterpiece. but i i can't 😢.
I still got midnight club la and gta 4 all editions on my Xbox and the gta 4 servers are still online
I wish they would do just one more midnight club 😞 just like midnight club 2 where we can race in la france & tokyo but just modernized & a bigger story line
