At the rate this is going it will be 2045 when its done because the have not started the 440 project yet and there working on widening 40 from raleigh 301 to johnston county 312 to make it 4 or 5 lanes both ways dont remember and that project a year in and thats a 5 yr project along with other projects it will be awhile before this happens and i heard it will be a toll road that section when done
As a Realtor, I truly appreciate this and am happy to see this route progressing. We have so many people moving here daily and home buyers are having to purchase farther out like Fuquay Varina, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Garner, Clayton in order to afford a home. Once 540 goes in, it should make their commute a lot easier. Thanks for updating us! Sharon Lewis, KW Realty, Cary
if you really were a realtor then you would know how many good homes are for sale in city limits and that none of our growth is natural. The more they build these useless roads the more people move here that should not be here.
I used to live in the Triangle from 1998 thru 2010 and this road should have already been completely finished by 2010 at the latest and probably would have been if not for the environmentalist wack jobs trying to kill the project. Take care of the environment yes but use some common sense.
Actually this is just a money scam for kickbacks by the NCDOT. The roads are not needed. They just want to steal land and use federal money to stuff their pockets.
I do not see the need for this road at this time with all of the construction and congestion we already have going into raleigh. We need to take care of that issue before we think about a road going around Raleigh
You're not thinking about this correctly. This part of I-540 doesn't exist, it is being built in a rural area. It really won't impact Raleigh, but when done, people will be able to bypass Raleigh going towards Knightdale or Apex and up. This will help alleviate traffic going through Raleigh. Right now if you want to go to Garner or Wilmington, you have to go through Raleigh. Raleigh needs a full circle bypass to alleviate traffic on I-40 and I-440 among others.
@@jconcordia they been working on 540 for the last 21 years!!! Almost 22 years. Charlotte interstate 485 loop is complete all the way around Charlotte. Why is the Nc-dot taking forever to finish 540 loop????
@@JoeZelensky People dont use 540? WRONG. Not true. Stealing from farmers? WRONG. They will be compensated and in many cases, not all of their land is used. And if completed, it would make more sense for people to use it and bypass Raleigh, thus alleviating Raleigh traffic. Bypass freeways have proven to work or they wouldnt exist in the first place.
@@jconcordia It is very little traveled, especially the toll area. Yes they steal the land from farmers. The money they force them to take is vastly less than they would make. And even if not all the land is used the rest can not be used for anything. Everyone is driving into Raleigh and Cary. So another piece of stolen land would not make any difference.
i don't understand why they're taking for fucking ever on this goddamn project
I want to see it complete by 2024
Will the highway go over or under Johnson Pond Rd?

@@jconcordia You mean they are stealing farmers land and destroying land owned by families for generations. And nobody even uses 540 as it is.
