- This video introduces how to convert dynamic disk to basic in Windows 11/10/8/7 without losing data. This can be done with free tool easily.
Troubleshooting:
- If the program ask for license key, you downloaded wrong edition, download the free edition from www.hdd-tool.c...
- If there's no convert option when right click the front of dynamic disk, 2 major reasons:
1. One or more partitions on this dynamic disk have file system error. In this case, run chkdsk with /f /v comand to repair all partitions on this disk.
2. This dynamic disk was converted from MBR basic disk and there are more than 4 partitions now. In this case, delete some partitions or move some to other disk.

I had accidentally converted my disk to Dynamic with the lousy Disk Management in windows, and I couldn't change it back without wiping all data. This tool did the job with my data intact.
However, It changed my drive letters, probably due to one of them being empty. I used the same tool to change them back.

I've just managed to revert my dynamic volumes back to basic ones without any dataloss :)
bro when i right click on my dynamic disk. it does not shows the option to convert it. pls help
1. Run chkdsk command with /f /v to repair file system.
2. Open Windows inbuilt Disk Management to find out how many partitions on the disk. If there are more than 4 primary, merge or move some to other disk.

Accidentally i tuned my drive type to dynamic and i was in stress i thought that it is irreversible but only due to you this problem is fixed thanks alot dear.
upgraded to nvme and accidentally turned old ssd into dynamic volume before deletimg system partition. the tool converted back to basic in seconds without data loss. perfect thank you :)

There's no difference if the disk is local or external. You should right click the front of dynamic disk. If there's no convert option, check the troubleshoooting on the top and below the video.

Wow, After many trails this method helped me.
disk 0- 2 volumes (HDD) Dynamic
disk 1 - 2 volunes (SSD) Basic
Actually I was facing issue ( because of my mistake) There was an unallocated volume in my disk 0 . I tried many options i had to make it into use but i failed and later i got an idea that why can't i convert it into Basic and make unallocated slot to make it use as a volume..
Finally, I did it successfully 😊.
and at last i converted disk 0 again to dynamic. (As soon i came to know Dynamic is best).👍
and my disk 1 is Basic..

FREE PORTABLE VERSION WORKS... ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT AUTO RESTART AFTER IT SAYS 1 SEC FOR RESTART - MY HEAD WAS SWETTY OF, ALL MY DATA... WELL, I RESTARTED MYSELF AND IT WORKED. THANKS SO MUCH USED HOURS TRYING TO FIND A FREE SOLUTION.
Of cause I should have made a backup before doing it, but I did not - but it did work, thankfully!
Making this nonsense of a dynamic disk was a mistake while testing usb keys... Terrible... just terrible.

I know that we can never encrypt a Dynamic Disk with Bitlocker.
But I itself don't know miraculous, my Dynamic Disk is encrypted with Bitlocker.
Will this solution still work?
Also is this option still free even today?
As far as I know, Bitlocker disk partitions can't be resized or converted until you disable it.
@@ServerMagic if I try to disable it, it says we can't disable bitlocker from a dynamic disk
