In order to "western-ize" the, it would take entire generation of Ukrainians to be "reprogrammed" that corruption is bad, otherwise, just like an infection - this would spread across entire Europe.

I'm not a military expert whilst I had military training and service during 2 years in a special force from a NATO country . For my understanding I believe Russia just don't want to invade all Ukraine territory east of dniepper. If they did that probably will have more than a hundred thousand of casualties and loose lot of material . They choose another strategy , Russia maintain a occupied zone and with small attacks they oblige Ukrainian forces to put more troops and material in that zone , this just result in more ukra casualties and lost material that will be a economical disaster for both Ukraine and Europe . I believe ukras already surpass 600.000 death in combat this equals a almost 2 million man dead or injured . Can Ukraine keep absorbing this kind of human losses ? The Ukrainian territory are full of cemiteries.
Also, Russia expects a political collapse to occur eventually. In this scenario they won't have to use the army.

for anyone wondering why didnt russia captured donbass yet you should check eastory video on ww2 in donbass
here is a spoiler:in 1943 red army was able to capture donbass only after the german forces were defeated somewhere else (kursk) so if russia wants to take donbass it needs to defeat the ukranian army somewhere else until they can capture donbass without destroying everything

You make an excellent point. History is a very good indicator of how the Russian offensive will proceed, albeit with modern implements and hopefully even better logistical support than they had in 1943-45. While West Point students study Gulf War 1, Russians study the Crimean War, WW1 & WW2 . And the geniuses in NATO wonder why they are losing.

What a terrible time to be a soldier... imagine having trained for a half year and shortly after arriving the battlefield you could:
A: all of a sudden die due to an artillery strike.
B: shot to death with a machinegun used by a drone similar to the ones that flies around and follows olympic slalom etc
C: killed by a common handgranade dropped by a small drone.
D: killed by a sniper 2000m+ away.
Better train as a drone operator

@12:00 kalashnikov showed proof of concept years ago of a gun toting drone. The idea isn't hard to come by. Solving the technical issues and finding a real use on a contested frontline is the hard part. Nato/Ucraine is using drones with bombs and guns against entrenched positions only because it lost most of it's artillery.
Weight, recoil and unit cost make flying machine-guns non-viable.
You need a US$10,000+ drone to carry and aim a machine gun with maybe 50 rounds of 5.56 ammo.
Also (as shown by Bayraktar) it's unlikely to make it back home from a mission.
On the flip side you can gaffer tape a RKG-3 hand grenade to practically any hobby drone for about US$300.
AGS or dropper drones are more effective and why we see them.
The US did develop a tactics using 12 gauge semiautomatic shotgun. It's actually quite effective.
Anyway we learned to use slingshot. Many civilians drones were down by kids using slingshots. To add it effectiveness some kids develop special ammo. Wrapped ballbearings with magnetic and the results is interesting indeed.
I don't really think it would work. When you see a video of a FPV drone you see right at the end the drone is flying under its own inertia because the electronic warfare is scrambling the signal.
I really don't think a machine gun drone will get that close to an enemy position to fire the gun. If it got too close the electronic warfare systems will make it impossible for the operator to fire the weapon.
Great concept, but extremely flawed.
The inertia on such a small flying machine is not high enough to be steady against the recoil.

When peace negotiations do eventually start again the overall security framework for eastern Europe that Russia had been wanting to address since at least 2008 will need to be finally addressed. At that stage there may also be a new permanent member of the UNSC.

The concept of AI at the moment on drone warfare really just locks onto the target prior to the electronic warfare scrambelling the signal.

They're usually effective at stopping tanks which is why russians have been shelling the Ukrainian engineers setting up the dragon teeth. It is why Russia manage to advance with little resistance in Kharkhiv and possibly Sumy as well
