      PrincessLaLa011 my nail beds are really long like hers. i find that keeping them moisturized allows them to bend instead of snapping, i don't buff my nail plate, and i use a strengthening topcoat (even though those aren't the best, they work for my nails because they're so thin and they add some girth LOL).

      I had the same problems like yours. The last 5 months ago it kept broken when grown. I gave up! I found a new ingredients on Pinterest and I tried it for 2 months now, it has grown so long and strong. I mixed egg yolk, olive oil, hone, line or lemon juice then soaked for 15 mins on each hand, after the total 30 mins is up washed hand, brush all the dirt off, repeat twice week.. Then apply olive oil for moisture after and every night when going bed... This work for me.. Hope it work for you..

      Bop Bobby put RAW ALOE on ur nails, and the minute you put that nail in ur mouth to bite, I GUARANTEE that extremely bitter taste will discourage you from biting ur nails. That taste stays on ur tongue and back of ur throat for quite a while, no matter what you eat or drink. I bit nails since I was 5yrs old, and after trying the aloe method, I never bit my nails again.....I'm now 38yrs old.

      Bop Bobby I am 57 and bit my nails down to nearly nothing for as long as I can remember.On Jan 1,2017 I decided no more! As soon as they got even a little bit of growth on them I was excited and inspired to let them get longer and didn't want to bite them any more.The thumbs took the longest to grow,but after 6 months now I am amazed at how they could bounce back and be as strong and pretty as they are after so many years of abuse.I have a box full of nail polishes,stamps and jewels and I'm having a blast with nail art! You will too,justake up your mind not to put those fingers in your mouth.If I did it you can.

      Some people are blessed with nice, strong nails by nature. Soaking and buffing nails isn't good for them, period. Her nails are strong enough to withstand it. I'd someone with thinner nails tried to do this routine they'd ruin their nails, but she's passing it off as a tutorial for everyone, so it's a problem.

    I don't know how your nails stay strong with all this ! I mean buffing takes off layers of your nails and weakens them . Scrubbing the nails with toothpaste makes them dry and dryness leads to splitting . You're nails must be naturally very strong , but some of these steps will actually destroy the nails .

    You are SO supportive! I just got d you, but I feel like I've known you forever already! In less than 20 minutes I learned more than I have in HUNDREDS of hours of other videos. It's almost like the natural nail is most often treated as simply the "ugly duckling" that needs layers upon layers of "goop" that is then considered "the nail" rather than the beautiful keratin treasures that the natural nail is - all by itself!
    Thank you SO very much for the inspiration and for sharing your own backyard techniques!.

    Actually, water and buffing make your nails weaker, and prone to breakage. Nail hardeners aren't very good either because if you use it too often your nails could snap. One tip would be to use nail oils or jojoba/coconut oil very often around the cuticle and under the nail areas. These oils hydrate the nails and keep them strong, plus they keep any water from being absorbed, thus no breakage.

    'dead nail cells'?
    Fingernails and toenails are made of keratin - a protein made of dead cells, which is also the main protein found in hair. In fact, structurally nails are modified hair. Cutting your hair and fingernails doesn't hurt because they are dead

      Lana Del Tropico a quick buff is normal and good for smoothing the ridges. 😊 it's the same idea as a toothbrush. It's very important BUT DONT BRUSH TOO HARD. A little Buffing is healthy xo

    • @SCSilk
      @SCSilk 7 лет назад +15

      The ridges are the strongest part of the nail. When you buff, you remove that strength and can end up with cracked, peeling nails.
      A ridge-filling base coat will smooth the appearance of the nails and not damage them. Buffing is not needed.

  • @sydneyhammond2679
    @sydneyhammond2679 7 лет назад +18

    Seriously do not buff . I have long nails and here are some actual useful tips:
    DO NOT USE NAIL STRENGTHENER! Nail strengtheners make your nails too hard so when you hit your nails off something they are not flexible enough and will just snap off right away.
    Get a fidget toy. I used to always bend my nails back and forth until I got a fidgeting toy. It helped so much and o have since not n ended a fidget toy anymore. Doesn't matter what it is, just has to keep your hands busy doing anything other that bending your nails.
    Always be wearing nail polish. Nail polish is flexible and will bend with your nail instead of making them snap off. It also acts as a barrier to your nails from getting bruised or dented.
    Lastly, do not listen to these internat nail hacks. The only one that works is soaking your nails in coconut oil for 15 minutes every night. But it only works if your nails do not have a free edge yet.
    And try to keep your nails out of water for prolonged periods of time if possible ( especially hot water) though if not possible then always be wearing at least a clear coat on your nails
    And I am only 13 and o started growing my nails last year so it does not matter how old you are, people's nails are different and will grow at different speeds

    All nail cells are dead. You're just getting rid of the stained ones and opening up the layers of the nail. Soaking them in baking soda and salt further dehydrates them and the water continues to seperate layers of the nail. Those moisturizers aren't helping your nails past the surface. I don't think blood stimulation works unless you do it everyday.

    • @Hairitage93
      @Hairitage93  7 лет назад +5

      It's ok, a lot of people ask. The undersides of all my nail house some extended soft nail tissue, less commonly known as the hyponychium, as well as its Onychodermal Band 🤓 - These parts of the nail keep bacteria from getting into the nail bed tissue. We all have it, but some people's extend a bit further to meet the bacteria at the door 🤜🏽💥

    Really beautiful natural nails ! My natural nails are long but break easily so I go to the nail stylist and have them covered with UV gel. Unfortunately my daily life has some risky moments for long nails and also at work I have to be careful.

    • @Corn22
      @Corn22 7 лет назад +47

      Jessica Avalos buffing can actually be pretty harsh on natural nails too, it thins them out and can make them break more easily.

    • @Hairitage93
      @Hairitage93  7 лет назад +94

      You know how people use the term "healthy-looking" to describe nails and hair? Granted, they're both made of dead cells, but in my case, gently buffing the nails makes them shinier when polished, and helps the polish adhere for a much smoother finish---just like how trimming our tresses whips the hair, as a whole, back into shape. Although these cells are technically non-living, there are definitely levels to the deadness 😅 I buff/exfoliate away the *extra* and *visibly* dry/dead-looking cells that can't bounce back to life to give my nails a healthier, brighter, and fresher look. They're still dead, yes, but the key is to look alive! I hope that helps and thanks for watching 😄

    It's all about trial and error but these techniques works for her, but personally, exposing and manipulating my nails while wet will make mines more prone to breakage.
    I just let my my nails be, meep my hands moisturized and file them ever so slightly every other day to stay ahead of them breaking and it actually works.
