I was always a huge JRJR fan growing up (his stint on X-Men was big for me), and I think I always took Sr for granted. It wasn't until much later did I appreciate just HOW good he was, and how influential. I actually prefer him to Kirby.
I should have mentioned in the video that the X-Factor book was mine that I bought in '86(?) when it came out. I really should have just bought a new, near mint one to slab, but f*ck it.
I'm feeling mighty old right now, realizing that Civil War came out in 2006 -- nearly 20 years ago and remembering it pretty clearly. Damn. I know it's blasphemy to some, but I have a love/hate (okay.... sporadic dislike) of Michael Turner's art, similar to my feelings on Alex Ross. Both have/had distinctive styles that are striking and beautifully done.... But felt overexposed after awhile and were just EVERYWHERE. What lantern-jaws, '50s bodybuilder physiques and overhead lighting are to Alex Ross, elongated, sexy psuedo-anime alien ladies were to Turner. But hey.... Any day over LEGO-foot Liefeld! Congrats on 50+ videos! I came for the comics, but am glad I stuck around for Randy's restrained vogue-ing with his snazzy shirt at the end of this video. STRIKE A POSE!
Okay, now I'm able to give you a better reply than the lazy emojis from yesterday. I hate replying on a phone, so that's all you got! But I'm at my desk now, pretending to work, so I can respond in kind. I LOVE Alex Ross. Like, LOVE LOVE. And a funny thing happened on the way to the forum...I'm starting to tire of his work. Like...I get it. I think I mentally tapped out by 2010. Though my CFtBL signed sketch covered book is awesome, I think it's the second best cover offered on the book.
@@SwarmofComics This is where I'd insert a Titus Andronicus "You. Me. SAME!" gif. Ross is extremely talented, but he definitely has a singular model in mind whenever he draws his dudes. I think I love his painting style, but his character modeling is what makes me go, "Bruh. We get it. You have a Charles Atlas catalog on your coffee table at all times. It's okay." Also, bonus points for "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum." Helluva musical!
CGC grading is all over the place tbh, when there's multiple people that does it i don't think it helps matters. You may have gotten a grader when they were having a bad day that didn't want to be thorough
@@SwarmofComics There can't be a huge difference, every comic is going to be different even if it comes immediately off the print line to be graded there's going to be discrepancies. They are just to picky on newer comics i feel.
🦁great books great grades thanks for sharing.🦁

Great batch of books! I love that Daredevil sketch cover. JR Sr. is my all-time favorite artist. RIP.

I just want to know why I NEVER get a 9.9 or 10.0....is there REALLY that much of a difference? I doubt it.
