I am only on lesson no. 2 (on Spotify) but I just wanted to take a moment to thank you so much for this amazing course. The pace is perfect, the pronunciation is clear, and I love how we get to practice conversations and *think* for ourselves about what we ought to say. Conversations are often a missing puzzle piece when we attempt to learn a language, either by ourselves or even in school. Also, your voice is very gentle and nice to listen to! I know that not many people speak Irish nowadays so I think you are doing an extraordinary thing to preserve the Gaeilge language and the culture tied to it. It's something the whole world benefits from. Personally, I'm aiming to learn at least a bit of Irish because I would love to visit both Ireland and Northern Ireland someday. ❤️ I believe that learning the native language of a land can help you better connect with its people and places. Go raibh maith agat!
Firstly, go raibh maith agat for the videos ❤️❤️ You are a fantastic teacher! I love that you use phrases that a person actually say in the course of a day instead of some videos where you're thinking ...Now when have you ever heard anyone say that ? 😂. Please keep the videos coming 😁👍
I just want to say thank you for these videos. It’s exactly what I was looking for. As a parent of “Nordy” children who attended a Gael Scoil, they regularly criticise my use of “southern” Irish. Your lessons are helping me to recall and practise what has been long buried. I’ll probably end up with a weird hybrid dialect, though. 😂
A fantastic teacher of Irish plus a sense of humour too. Great diction very clear & so easy to listen to. Just love my Irish lessons only on lesson 5 but very much enjoying it. Such a pity teachers 50 yrs ago didn’t teach our beautiful language like Ian. Well done Ian. Thank you Veronica
Only on lesson 2 + duolngo…I’ll at least be able to order something like food and drink next year when we travel to Ireland 😆 I keep taking out loud with the videos, but feel so silly…how to overcome this?

"Ar mhaith leat gloine mhór uisce beatha?" -- Bartender
"Ba bhaith." -- Ian
I'm getting the impression that you say that a lot, Ian LOL.
Go raibh maith agat 🙏
You have to come back Ian!!!
Is it dialectical in the difference between “Mhaith” pronounced “why” or “wah”?
Yeah, pretty much. Maith kinda rhymes with my (or moy) up north, more like mah down south.
I was looking for this! So would you say you’re speaking more Ulster dialect?
where you from
