Me and my partner were cleaning the house, completely in the zone and wrapped up in what we were each doing, so I threw on a random new video playlist on Tidal when this came on.....about 35 seconds into the song, without saying a word we both walked slowly over to the couch, eyes not leaving the screen for a second as we maneuvered to it, and sat with our eyes glued to the screen and our jaws on the floor for the entire song and even for a few reflective moments afterwards. We are both musicians and when we finally were released from the trance this video had us in once it ended, we just turned and looked at one another and were LITERALLY speechless. When the words finally found us, all we could say was woah. We agreed that we had never heard anything even remotely like it ever before, and that it was superbly badass. There is something utterly hypnotic about this track and the energy that the LS puts out while singing it is something that I have never been so inspired by in my entire life. I am more than impressed, I am completely enlightened by this song. Very few songs have ever completely captivated my entire being the way this one did, and this is probably the most profound response I've ever had to music.
I mean seriously, not to be dramatic, but this is the type of song that can lead your thoughts into so many very deep beautiful places and leave you feeling haunted, turned on, frightened, euphoric, ecstatic, and dissociated from your body all at the same time and in perfect timing. It's the kind of song that makes you sad about the fact that you will one day have to die and leave it behind never to be heard again by your ears.
And the most bewildering part of it is that they did this so perfectly and it's obvious that they are capable of so much more when you sense the uncanny level of ease they did it with. And that folks, is music sent down from the Gods.
And may I just add that I am absolutely in fu**ing love with the lead singer? He is prolly the only performer I think have ever or will ever see that can be the literal embodiment of sex while wearing a hoodie lol.

finally someone on socia media who writes from the the heart. I heard a song at work last friday on the radio the old skool way we heard musc..I was incapsulated, determined it sounded like the killers, sam fender, keane, the cure even queen somehow combined in one. Found the radio station then play list and it was nothing but theives tommorow is closed. Now i discovered all their body of work, their incredible musically and have the most unique juxtposed frontman from rest of band since either robert smith or freddie mercury. Now i just heard futureproof i have always loved my house music all electronic music, but i have an alter ego of loving rock, bands and the legends through the decades. Nothing but thieves would be an electronic dj producers wet dream can just imagine a sub focus/ dimension twsiting this track to being a festival anthem at no sacrolidge to the fantastic original!! Every new track i not heard by this band i feel like a single in its own right, they keep plugging away stay together could be giving my favourite band of all time, Queen, there are moments in nothing but thieves tracks listening like this could be queen.!! what a band Nothing but Thieves!!

Today I realised the impact music has on my life. I woke up and was totally excited about this song. It was only when I saw the thumbnail, I already knew it was gonna be an amazing song as always. I listened to it and I absolutely like it! Thanks, Nothing but Thieves for making those masterpieces, especially in this time when nothing is sure, however, 1 thing IS sure: Y'all have a good music taste!

just barely into the first verse and already they’re speaking on how a lot of people now jump on social movements as if they were nothing more than trends, speaking over marginalized voices and drawing attention away from the actual problems in order to make themselves look good on social media. fire song 🔥
It also makes me think of the tendency for people to say 'be on the right side of history' (I wanna be futureproof = they want to look good to posterity); there doesn't seem to be any intellectual or moral reason for a lot of people to jump on those movements, just the desire to look good later. Really cool to see in a song.
I think its also about cancel culture as well. Futureproof as in pretending to care about social issues so no one can cancel you later.
Considering that 'Is everybody going crazy' is reffering to the wave of right wing nationalism sweeping the globe I think you might not be aligned with the band's opinions here.
Also considering this is a English band it's pretty safe to assume that the opening lyric 'there shutting down our protest' isn't about your imaginary cancel culture but about the fact the British (right wing) government is literally passing a bill to remove the right to protest.

Thank goodness they did not decide to take 2 years or 3 to release new material. Connor's voice is so good, and everything his voice touches turns to gold. No need to overthink, everything he does is a BOP.
Edit: kuddos to the band as a whole, just saw video about the making of Futureproof, and the production process is superb.

I met him when when they played here in Calgary, Canada back in September 206. Such a lovely bloke, as weere the whole band, very humble set of lads. I told them you should be playing at world class venues, now they have headlined the O2 in London. So deserved. Such a great live band.

Even as a old guy, Nothing But Thieves, is one of the best young rock bands. I hope they tour the states.
Took my son to see them at the Fonda Theatre on Hollywood Blvd a few years ago, because I felt this same way. Great show. Definitely an original hard rock band. So unique. Wishing them the best for their long-term futures in music 👍💕
