Tbh this is the most underrated band I've ever listinened to, they really have an amazing voice and have a fire ball passion. This made me appreciate my music taste a bit more, and I'm glad I found them through 13 reasons why because otherwise I don't know how I would find them. The lyrics are written so beautifully that I can't even come with a meaning behind it, I love them

I mainly listen to the same bands over and over, and as a result I find it difficult to get into new bands. This was completely new for me the first time I heard it. But this was immediately one of my favorite song ever. The bridge and mainly the chorus is so fucking strong. I could just sit on the sofa and listen to this song for multiple hours doing nothing but enjoying this absolute masterpiece

People here thinking how the vocalist is so damn emotional, I'mma tell ya.
1. The correct technique. Twang, open throat, proper breathing and good "lean" (lean means pulling your muscles around your diapgrams inside, I mean things like abs and the muscles in ur back and lower back, PULL not locking them) give u so much freedom and vocal ability.
2. Second of all, PASSION, EMOTION. He loves to sing about these feelings and it actually sparks u to sing better and u just find the right style to sing with PASSION. Something that popular singers like Ariana Grande are missing. She actually had it but not anymore.
3. Last but not least, his actual overall vocal style is pretty underrated. He uses a little bit darker voice. If u need better examples of dark voice in rock/pop-music I guess Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage, novadays Light The Torch) is pretty dark even compared to this solist right here. I heard it better when I looked up the live video of this.
EXPLANATION OF VOICE COLOUR: Voice colour means that u use either light, dark or something between these two, u can adjust it a little bit by for example singing nasally (full light) or not at all nasally (full dark) also different strenghts of twang adjust your voice colour.

I am old enough to remember The Beatles, which I listened as a little kid, when they were still playing: there is a similar energy here, just that the times are now different and Nothing But Thieves cannot possibly be upbeat and overly optimistic; if so, they would be the Ariana Grande Band. But they are a good fit to our Zeitgeist, and not as apocalyptic as most symphonic metal bands, such as Meshuggah or, alas, The Architects. So, young guys, you have here a 57-year old fan.

But in all seriousness this sucks compared to "If I Get High", it's just an angsty anthem which is basic. If I Get High is beautiful, but this is meh and doesn't make use of Conor's lovely voice
Yules Casablancas gonna disagree, while they are talented and I enjoy their music, they aren't that unique and their sound has been done before by many other bands, and that's ok though, cause no one is truly original
Actually in this song you can hear what a beautiful voice Conor has and what he's capable of. For example, how he screams in the chorus and in the breakdown, but at the same time he keeps a quiet and sweet voice in the bridge with his falsetto. I do really think that Amsterdam suits his voice a lot.
