  • The Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation has awarded the prestigious LBJ Liberty and Justice for All Award to Congressman John Lewis, a hero of the Civil Rights movement who for decades has been a steadfast advocate for peace, freedom and justice. The inaugural LBJ Award was presented to Lewis at a dinner in Washington, D.C., on November 17, 2010.
In the spirit of President Johnson's commitment to public service, civil rights and equality, the Foundation created the LBJ Liberty and Justice for All Award to recognize and honor individuals who have carried on the legacy and goals of President Johnson. A video shown at the dinner portrays Johnson's legacy - that every citizen should have the opportunity to share in the benefits, privileges, and protections of our great country.
