Just ordered my Niro EV, can't wait for my baby EV6 to arrive. The way fuel prices are here in the UK I can justify the cost of the lease pretty much on the fuel savings alone! Amazing review as always! 1-2 years ago, the initial high cost of hybrids was not worth the gas savings. But now, the new hybrids (Sportage Hybrid, Niro hybrid, Honda crv hybrid, etc) are only ~$3k more than their gasoline counterparts which make the hybrids sensible for an ownership of 5 years. Pure EV is still a tough buy purely from a charging perspective (too much time to charge even on 800v architecture; range anxiety is real) and cost as well. The percentage of people who can buy a $55k car would have bought it even if it was $90k but people who usually buy $25k-$30k car can stretch upto $35k only. So, I think hybrids are the way to go for middle class buyers.

I really like this face lift/new generation. Technologically it's not that new, but Kia shows, you can upgrade the design inside and outside.
I have to disagree with you about hybrids: they would have been good 15 years ago in this mass, but today there is no way around EV. Besides, PHEVs just combine the worst of two worlds. People always argue that this makes you less afraid, but in reality people then either drive only with the combustion engine - then the electric technology is obsolete and causes only ballast, or they drive as much as possible electrically - then the combustion engine is obsolete, but still wears out and you pay unnecessarily in maintenance.

Helpful video thank you 👍. Recently test driven the Spec 3 HEV, I liked it. It's funny that the higher Spec 3 & 4 have all the bells and whistles, but worse fuel efficiency and ride comfort 😂. I prefer the Spec 3 but would prefer the 16" wheels 😳. Most manufacturers fall into the same trap of putting looks before fuel economy and ride comfort 🙄.
Very Interested in the NEW Niro but would wait for EV or PHEV depending on range. Really want Ioniq 5 but no telling when they will ever sell it here in Kansas

Pure hybrid doesn’t have overtaking speed so for me it needs more power before I’d think of getting one. Plug in doesn’t have enough range either. Only one I’d consider is the pure EV.
Are the high beam and low beam good? Better than the older kia models?

Can you display a tach instead of Charge/Eco/Power gauge? I noticed sensor arcs on the front of the car in the rear view display; does it give forward obstacle warnings?

Maybe I need to clarify my terminology. FCA is good for alerting the driver of vehicles/pedestrians while driving. What I probably should have asked is whether you get audible warnings for obstacles in front of the car while parking. (Parking Distance Warning (PDW)). This gives varying audible warnings from 12-48 inches from an obstacle.
Edit: PDW is operational below 6 MPH/10 KPH. FCA is operational above 6 MPH/10 KPH
No, you can not do that David. Charge/Eco/Power Gauge remains no matter what we do. And yes, 2022 all new Kia Niro comes with forward collision warning and avoidance. Thanks David.

There is a review on here of the SX Spec available in Canada that does have extending visors! I recently drove a Spec 3 in the UK but forgot to check the visors. Will check next time. It should be a mandatory feature on all cars.
Any news/timeline for the PHEV model?

Since I live in an apartment without a way to plug in an electric automobile, and my workplace will not power their charging stations, a hybrid like Niro looks good. I never liked the look of the Prius, and I don't have to pay for the badge on the Kia. I will have to look for your review of the Sportage hybrid.

Two questions: will there ever be a 2 door coupe from either Genesis, Kia, or Hyundai within the next five years? And question 2 is they have discontinued the flagship cars from Kia and Hyundai in the US. In your opinion, do you see them being imported again to the US as electric or hybrid vehicles. The Kia K7 was something I would love to have if I couldn't afford the Genesis G80. The Kia Niro is nice.
Man I wish they still sold their flagship sedans in the us but unfortunately big sedans don't sell at all in the us, but imo they are the nicest body style

I’m a little disappointed with the interior lighting. I was surprised in my soul when I found the button for the mood lighting and how it lit up the floor and the cup holder. Wish this did the same
