- Check this crazy capture deep jigging the waters under the cape. I never thought I'd catch something like this on a vertical jig in 80m of water. I really wanted eat this thing and after getting talked out of it I came to terms with letting it go but looking back I can't help but feel like I still want to eat it. Have a look cos this was a pretty cool moment in all my years of fishing.

Cuttlies are super tasty. Just don't treat them like squid. He is right about the mess though. The buggers hold a surprising amount of ink. One that size could probably paint half the boat.
Yeah I think I got lucky not having to deal with all that mess.

Awesome catch Liam…..I recently was fishing on the Sapphire Coast New South Wales and I took an Octopus on a 2.5 inch soft plastic. Didn’t keep that either.
Yeah hard call, mate got an occy on a jig once and looking at in in the eyes we couldn’t bring ourselves to neck it. They look and are pretty smart.

Those things are a pain where i am. They destroy squidjigs in shallow water and they are annoying to bring in when out deeper
