the Germans and Canadians have always had strong relations...it was the Canadians that were greeted with open arms, not the Americans like the history books say....Canada attacked the military, the USA bombed cities to break civilian moral.....think about that 1...
Um okay, not sure what version of history you were taught. Canadians did so as well in both RACF and RAF bomber command squadrons. Mainly in Halifax and Lancasters heavy bombers. Bomber Command Museum of Canada just 90km from Calgary in Nation would be a good place to visit my friend considering they do have a running Lancaster....
Your part right, most people have no clue what it is, the second vehicle is an ARV (Armoured Recovery Vehicle) used by the mechanics, essentially a tow tank with a large winch and crane, the blade in the front is a brace to dig in when winching heavy loads
***** Bigger upgrade than what? It's pretty neat, once Canada had received the 2A6M, they were operating one of the most modern Leopard in the world, until Germany brought the A7 into service
This would definitely pair well with the horribly obsolete CF-188s! Man, I wonder what else the Canadian budget wasted this time oh, many things and still no improvements other than the Tank. Seriously. We need at least a bit more firepower so we wouldn't be a pushover.

How do you propose that a country the size of Switzerland defend a land mass the size of Russia??? Think before you post
@ honestly it's quite simple. You defend by not defending at all. I mean what are the invaders supposed to fight? Trees? Just let them run their selves to death while trying to take over more and more ground with little strategic value and concentrate on the few places that have.
They sail past my town a lot and it's an embarrassment. They are rusted and falling apart. That's what we get for spending only 0.9% of the GDP on national defense compared to the 2% or higher that all other NATO countries spend. I'm a proud Canadian, but I am embarrassed about our military support.
They stem from the same roots. The abrahams (and merkava …) uses the same german gun as the Leopard 2 A4, a Rheinmetal L44 120 mm smooth bore. Since Leopard A5 and newer the german tanks have an extended lenght of that gun, an L55. The challenger, the abrahams and the leopard all have laminated armor, an british invention. While the US uses deplated uranium, the germans use thungston for environmental reasons.
Canadian army doesn’t need tanks.... it needs 4x4’s so that it can get the hell out as soon as there is any trouble... they weren’t much good in Bosnia and were pretty ineffective in Afghanistan... perhaps they need to come up against someone of their effectiveness... like Zimbabwe..😂😂😂
And with equipment like this, we failed in Afghanistan, it was a failed mission. Lives lost for nothing. Wearing an Afghanistan Medal, is like wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs shirt, at a Stanley Cup Party, LOL!
"Equipment like this" He was most likely referring to the Leopard 2A6M that we utilised in Afghanistan. However, it was not the equipment that performed poorly, but the overall decision to get involved in Afghanistan in the first place. Then again, had we not gone to Afghanistan, our C2's would have been replaced with Strykers. So, it's a lose-win situation.
Was a forced hand tbh, if we didn't relations with the U.S were be lowered/worsened. NATO countries must pull their share i guess, shame to have lost Canadians there. Was pointless, middle east is still a war torn area.
Considering the fighting style of the Taliban in Afghanistan which was of Guerrilla tactics, it was not our equipment failure. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
I hope this will further improve German-Canadian relations.

As long as the witch Angela Markel in charge of Germany they will have good relations but at the same time the witch is killing Germany softly

Thanks for sharing this Vid. I think they made the right choice with the leopard.
Where are they ? and what a beautiful but deadly tank.
Canada!!! :) and Germany mainly a few other country's too!
Calgary Stampede pacifically
I live in Edmonton not far from Edmonton Garrison. I still have not seen a Leopard 2. Just the Leopard 1
Awesome!
I thought that all Canadian Leopard 2's would be upgraded to the Leopard 2a4 CAN version but this one is still standard.
Canada has a mix now of A4s and A6s, I've read some of the A4s will be used for training- maybe this is one of those.

Very nice tank, but R.I.P road
When did you buy Leopard 2a4?
Hurry up and get that L 55 already
@ 1:36 enjoy the fumes.
"It'll do over 100 kilometers an hour." I wonder how since the top speed is 72km/h...
There is a limiter to restrict wear. In War time it is supposed that they are allowed to use it to its full potential.
@@MoveAhead101 Yeah the limit is the gearbox and engine revs. The engine with current gearbox ratios is incapable of exceeding 72km/h...
Not official but its true. I am from germany and i know some ex tanker from the bundeswehr that these things go way faster than 72km/h.

72 kmph is the offical figure.
