FLOPPING FISH CAT TOY REVIEW (Was it a waste of money?) | Caturday

- Instagram made me buy it. The electric funny floppy fish toy that moves by itself. For about $15 to $20, it looks like the cat toy your cat needs! A realistic-looking fish flops around like...a fish out of water. Do cats play with the floppy fish or is it a total fail? I expected GREAT THINGS!
I captured their first impressions of the moving fish cat toy -which are kinda hilarious- and wrap up the video with a summation of how they like it 9 months later.

--About Riles--
Riles is our 17 year old rescue cat. We adopted him from the wonderful Calgary Humane Society in December 2018 to live here in his all-inclusive, tres exclusive kitty retirement home. So exclusive that it's just for him...and now, also for Chester. Two senior cat residents, two "staff members".
--About Chester--
Chester is our 14 year old long-haired tuxedo cat. We adopted him from the same place in December 2019.

Thanks for sharing new friend here😊keep safe..
Thank you, I will
My cats had no interest in it too. They looked at the toy, then looked at each other, then they both walked away😩😩
kitties of distinguished tastes, I guess! ;D
LOL - spent 12 bucks on a new toy - they could care less, but oh boy, let me tell you they played with the ribbon that was around the present for a long time! :)
I love the intro!! Another lovely video 🥰
Thank you so much!! Your comments makes me smile especially because I spent way too long editing that together haha
LOL love the little paw from Riles in the food dish ... they seem to be adjusting super well
hehe ya Riles is a sneaky sneak always trying to get into Chester's food. Lately they are really getting along pretty well. But honestly over the whole first year, it's been good days and not so good
@@seniorcatland As to be expected, our sassy little miss tortoise-shell is still harboring a 'grudge' against her 'brother' after all this time. They get along alright, no fights or anything, she just still wants to be queen bee. LOL. Good thing Chester is a good boy and a lover :) You are kind to have the patience to work him into your family.
haha at least no fights -- that's already really good. How long have they been together for?
And yes, Chester is a real sweetheart. Always accepting that Riles gets everything first. Which Riles seems to need or else he becomes insecure.
@@seniorcatland That is awesome you 'know' Riles so well and he goes 'first' :) Stuka (the girl) was first and her brother (Esker) about six months later. They've been part of the family for about 12 years - she rules the roost and sometimes gets crabby that he is here - lol. He's much bigger, but he is tolerant and patient with her 'antics' ;)
@@SashaRed1 Awww 12 years! That's so wonderful
My cat loves this toy, but I added a bunch of extra catnip to it, so not sure if that had an effect. My kitty's response to the flapping is to come sit on the fish and eventually give it some bunny kicks. She is however an avid huntress who's still in her early years.
ahaha just sit on the fish, that'll teach it!
1:53 WTF😂😂😂😂😂
lol
I did the same thing and bought the exact same toy because of Instagram. All three cats rejected it. No interest whatsoever. I thought they'd love it for sure!
I thought the very same thing! Why don't they like it 😭 why do they play with random packaging instead 🥺
I'm so vegan that a floppy fish toy bothers me but your videos makes me smile and Riles is the most adorable sounding Cat. 😍
Aww you have a big heart ❤❤❤😊
Did you save the box it came in? They would probably like the box more than the floppy fish! 😸
haha ya it came in a bag and Riles just LOVES licking plastic bags. I try to keep him away from them ^^
My cats are terrified of it! I put it on next to one cat and he leapt, now I don't even have to switch it on and he looks at it with big eyes. I've tried it with another cat and he reacted the same. Haven't tried it with my other cats though.
Oh no! poor dears! Maybe with the other cats, it can be introduced while being turned off...and see how it goes?
@@seniorcatland tried it with the other cats and they just have no interest lol
@@bimbobaggypants4820 aww darn!
I loved this, but why was Riles yelling at the door? 😂
He wanted to go for a walk :-)
I also got my cat a floppy fishy for Christmas and when it’s on my cat will stare at it interestedly until it turns off and then will go to try to pick it up in her mouth until it activates and smacks her in the face and she backs off (which is quite funny to watch lol) and then she’ll repeat that a couple times before losing interest and walking away. I don’t think it was an absolute waste bc she definitely is interested in it but my main complaints about it are 1. Why does it turn on immediately when you flip the switch cause it’s so hard to zip closed while flopping in your hands and 2. I don’t think it needed to be that loud it’s very distracting. Sad that your cats didn’t love it that much though :’( I hope they have a nice time watching the birds :)
oh no haha it smacks her in the face so rude! I agree with you on all points...especially if she is the least bit interested, then money well spent! haha at least, that's how I access the value of all our cat things. They touched it once? OKAY GOOD BUY!
My cat wouldn’t have anything to do with it, it scared him too much lol
aw no!! I keep hearing this about the fishy toy now. It's scary!
Cute cats though
thank you!
I'm sure a simple aluminum ball would do the trick to play 😄
ooo probably should try that ^^ Yes, they tend to like garbage the best. Chester is partial to large paper bags. Riles enjoys plastic packaging.
@@seniorcatland LOL 😄👍
Common sense in psychology tells you exactly the reason why cats will not react as it were a real fish because… Remember that sense of smell? It's not just all visuals… But cute as hell
lol
I think the toy is not bad, just with age, cats lose their desire to play. My kitten plays with everything that comes his way, even with a brush that doesn't move. In your case, I would try to move the fish additionally or on a string if it cannot generate interest on its own. Thank you for the video.
Oh these senior cats still LOVE to play. Just not with a silly floppy robot fish ;-)
I think our cats would have been intimidated by it.
aww It's a little scary!
Aw flopping fish was a flop!
By now you'd think I'd know better than to be too excited by a product I saw on Instagram 😭
I have a fish cat toy too. But not move
I think the moving part is overrated anyway. Does your cat like their fish toy?
@@seniorcatland My fish toy for cat is just a toy not electronic. So around $2 we can buy and you can see sometimes my cat Nana use for pillow or play in my channel
My cat loves his , he tries his best to kill it I think
Killer instincts!
It's very cheaply made. The USB port is fragile and easily breakable which makes it impossible to charge.
thanks for sharing
At some point you're just too damn old to bother.......
haha maybe. But they both still love chasing and batting other toys around.
Waste of money so far
It was!
