Video of Amtrak Northeast Regional Train 176 to Boston arriving Bridgeport on the New York bound track. This is followed by MTA Metro-North New Haven Line Train 1595 to Grand Central arriving on the New Haven/Boston bound track. Was waiting for the New Haven Line train and was only expecting to catch the Amtrak train as they were not scheduled to chow up together.
During a period in the PM rush hour and through the evening on weekdays, certain trains along the corridor tend to wrong-rail east of Stamford. This may be in part due to the amount of trains not running to New Haven which terminate at various stations east of Stamford such as South Norwalk and Bridgeport. Some of those trains may need to go back to NYC to do another trip or some other location which may requires heading back west by wrong-railing on the eastbound express track (with all other eastbound trains routed around those deadheading trains as necessary). There may also be other factors leading to this pattern.
