Great passages, thanks for sharING. The Acts is a reference to Jews and Gentiles (not food). If you read the rest of the chapter the Bible explains exactly what the vision was actually about. This passages is so often taken out of context to argue against what foods God in His authority declared clean and unclean. Regarding your Mark reference. people who eat meat aren't "defiled". That's not what the Bible teaches. However, if we eat unclean foods than that is classified an abomination to God. I actually read my King James Bible and The Bible does allow us to eat meat. Their is plenty more evidence saying we can eat meat. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to only eat a plant based diet.

The plants of the garden of Eden are not the same plants of today, which we had to breed into the edible forms we see today. Flesh was less corrupt and cursed for death, we now need to depend on death to sustain our life after the flood. God allowed us to eat meat for good reason, the plants we have lack essential true vitamins, hormones and minerals. Which plant can you obtain true vitamin D which is a hormone, cholesterol which is required to create vitamin D through sun on skin contact, true vitamin A as retinol or heme iron? You can't and if you can through conversion, its in not enough amounts. Vegetarians can survive with eggs and cheese for a very long time, but many also become vegan which is playing russian roulette with your health, especially since not every body can convert things like plant based vitamin A into true vitamin A in sufficient amounts.

Interesting but even though I was raised in the SDA church as a vegetarian, I’m still confused. Ellen White preaches veganism and after I went vegan, my family thinks extremists messed with my mind. Who are the extremists? Is it just me?

Which is false doctrine. The only reason a person will spend eternity in hell is unbelief. Read the Apostle Paul's teaching.

About those who where teaching that a new believer had to follow the Jewish religion. The religion that Paul new so well until he met Christ. I have read over the years that the church puts a strong emphasis on healthy living. I'm happy to find out vegetarianism is not required for SDA membership & that they leave the decision to each member's own personal conscience. Interesting fact. I took a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) class years ago and our instructor (very nice lady who was an RN) mentioned one day she was raised in the SDA church by vegetarian parents and that she had NEVER tasted meat ! And she was in her 40s !
@@jubalcalif9100 There's a lot of those kind of SDA. I didn't grow up SDA so I don't have the same story. The bible has some real gems regarding the benefits of caring for God's temple. Things that are eve backed up by modern-day science. Have you heard of the "Blue Zones'? Worth checking out the National Geographic's doco or TedTalks. SDAs were found to represent one of the longest living groups of people in the world. Unlike all the other groups they identified, who were from remote/ rural areas of iItaly and Japan, SDAs were the only group of people that lived in urban areas (Loma Linda, USA) with a high number of people living long enough to reach over 100 years of life.

I would think that the members of the LDS Church (the Mormons) would be as a group a long living people, since most of them do not drink alcohol or smoke. Some commonality found within the Blue zones was minimal, or no meant, physically active lifestyle (even in retirement), rest and whole foods (minimal processed foods). It a really interesting study. Great question, vegan (our plant-based) is no eating of animal products like; cream, butter, cheese or honey. Vegetarian is not eating the flesh of the animal like steak, chicken or fish.
All one needs to do is look at your bowel movements. Almost no white versus peanut butter. We are not supposed to eat meats like we're taught. There's no way.

@@chucksmith4624 again this was post-sin and ceremonial meat eating was still very specific. No fat, no blood. And servings were very specific- it wasn't a meal, it was a symbolic ritual- not a BBQ

The first council of the Church in Acts 15:5-16:4 forbids any teaching of the Gentile Christians to be obligated to live as do the Jews.* So, when Gen. 9: speaks of all foods or meat being eatable even as the green herb, *it means, just that!* Col. 2:16 *Forbids judging anyone in regard to what they eat or drink!*
The majority of Bible commentators (from all different denominations) collectively agree that Daniel was continuing with the diet that he would have most commonly eaten prior to his captivity in Babylon. I’d recommend you fact check that info. Whether he ate ‘pulses and water’ prior to Daniel chapter 1 or not, it is clear that God wanted to document that fact that Daniel made a firm discussion to choose plant-based food as his choice to nutrients when given the choice to eat something else. The account in the book of Daniel shows us that if Daniel was told to eat something that would defile him, Daniel would risk death and punishment to eat that which was the ideal instead of defiling ‘himself with a potion of the Kings delicacies.’ Hope that helps, thanks so much for your comment
It's a fair point. Plant based diet is not required but it is promoted. You can eat meat and be a member, pastor or whatever, but it is preferred to eat plant based. This is more based on Genesis than Daniel, the Daniel example is just an interesting case study.
Like I mentioned in the video, it’s not pushed, but at some point people attending our church events become very aware that we believe in the benefits of eating the a plant based diet. Whether someone chooses to eat a vegetarian diet is there personal choice. Regarding your point of what Daniel ate prior to him going to Babylon, I’d encourage you to research differently scholarly writings as there definitely is support that ‘pulses’ would have made the bulk of his normal diet, if not all of it. The Hebrews would have celebrated numerous feast days which would have called for the consumption of flesh, so we can’t rule out all the consumption of all flesh foods but we must also keep this Dan 2 in mind when making this observation. Additionally, the other significant point in Daniel’s experience is that certain foods can defile us, this point is valid regardless of whether it’s a plant-based diet or not.

In the santuary meat is only found in the outer courts and right now we are living in the time of the most holy place and meat is not found in the most holy place and adventists used the santuart service as a guide so if there is ni meat found in the santuary then we should not be eating meat !!

It depends if they know that a plant based diet is superior to a flash based diet. Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent. So unless a person did not know that a plant based diet is superior than a flesh based diet, God will wink and let it slide. But when they know better, than it is a salvation issue. there will be a lot of flesh eaters in heaven because of ignorance.

Even when God sent animals onto Noah's ark, He sent 2 of every UNCLEAN animal and 7 of every CLEAN animal. I know very few non meat eating Adventists, maybe if the Pastor is invited for lunch they'll prepare deep fried creamed up carbs veg and puddings. Even the catered for potluck dishes, the funerals too are meat based meals. Their argument, it's not doctrinal
Thanks for sharing your experience. It is a valid point for both sides of the argument. Because it isn't doctrinal, it's not an expectation or obligation for church membership. The SDA church definitely has a deep understanding of the Biblical evidence for a plant-based diet but its not forced on members, there's room for personal conviction.
God gives us a list of animals we can eat and can't but as long as you guys aren't weirdly saying you have to eat vegetables I can see where you're coming from. The word "meat" in the original Greek is actually "food", this passage is often used incorrectly and out of context to inaccurately argue against SDA and claim that our teachings are of demons. ❤ good information but i have researched that vegan is different than plant based religiously. As far as eating flesh it was never part God's original menu for mankind. However if we choose to eat it better to eat it as instructed in the bible, for health reasons, drain out the blood and boil the flesh removing the fat . God wants us to be healthy and obedient in our thoughts as well as actions. Eating a poor animal when there is so much better things to consume is a mental issue at this stage. But I know that historically is has become that and I think we're shifting to having a more balanced perspective on why we choose to change to a plant-based diet. The most powerful point to support a plant-based diet is the evidence given in the Garden of Eden and our pre-sin state. Jesus ate meat but it also wasn't consumed to the same degree as we see meat consumed these days. There is more evidence for Jesus eating fish as a meal, while meat like lamb, was eaten for ceremonial/ feast days, which is very different to eating meat every day.

So much so that in the next verse he says "Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.[a] Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow." It's not about food.
Valid point. I do think there’s a bit more to discuss in using this point. God ordained the sacrificial service, which called for the killing of animals. Jesus helped Peter catch fish, which would ultimately die. So although the commandment is to not kill we have to look at each application individually.

We don't have the huge hind-gut of such as a gorilla, to enable bacteria to convert all their fibrous food into the fat that the body needs. Ergo, even if we eat vegetarian it would not be the high carbohydrate version usually depicted, instead favouring natural fats such as eggs, olives, avocado, nuts, cheese and coconut, with greens for bulk, and to a lesser extent grains, legumes, root vegetables and fruit. Vegans have to get B12 from somewhere.

Great passages, thanks for sharING. The Acts is a reference to Jews and Gentiles (not food). If you read the rest of the chapter the Bible explains exactly what the vision was actually about. This passages is so often taken out of context to argue against what foods God in His authority declared clean and unclean.
Regarding your Mark reference. people who eat meat aren't "defiled". That's not what the Bible teaches. However, if we eat unclean foods than that is classified an abomination to God. Lev 11:1-47ish

The plants of the garden of Eden are not the same plants of today, which we had to breed into the edible forms we see today. Flesh was less corrupt and cursed for death, we now need to depend on death to sustain our life after the flood. God allowed us to eat meat for good reason, the plants we have lack essential true vitamins, hormones and minerals. Which plant can you obtain true vitamin D which is a hormone, cholesterol which is required to create vitamin D through sun on skin contact, true vitamin A as retinol or heme iron? You can't and if you can through conversion, its in not enough amounts. Vegetarians can survive with eggs and cheese for a very long time, but many also become vegan which is playing russian roulette with your health, especially since not every body can convert things like plant based vitamin A into true vitamin A in sufficient amounts.

I have read over the years that the church puts a strong emphasis on healthy living. I'm happy to find out vegetarianism is not required for SDA membership & that they leave the decision to each member's own personal conscience. Interesting fact. I took a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) class years ago and our instructor (very nice lady who was an RN) mentioned one day she was raised in the SDA church by vegetarian parents and that she had NEVER tasted meat ! And she was in her 40s !

Have you heard of the "Blue Zones'? Worth checking out the National Geographic's doco or TedTalks. SDAs were found to represent one of the longest living groups of people in the world. Unlike all the other groups they identified, who were from remote/ rural areas of iItaly and Japan, SDAs were the only group of people that lived in urban areas (Loma Linda, USA) with a high number of people living long enough to reach over 100 years of life.

Great question, vegan (our plant-based) is no eating of animal products like; cream, butter, cheese or honey. Vegetarian is not eating the flesh of the animal like steak, chicken or fish.
All one needs to do is look at your bowel movements. Almost no white versus peanut butter. We are not supposed to eat meats like we're taught. There's no way.

Like vegetation, there is a vast difference between foods that not good for you to eat, and foods that are "unclean". For example, can eat vegetation that is poisonous! It's poisonous, not "unclean" . *Christian are not be required to live after the manner of the Jews! The first council of the Church in Acts 15:5-16:4 forbids any teaching of the Gentile Christians to be obligated to live as do the Jews.* So, when Gen. 9: speaks of all foods or meat being eatable even as the green herb, *it means, just that!*

Daniel never said that his vegetarian diet was his previous diet, that is an assumption. How much does the church push this diet?
The majority of Bible commentators (from all different denominations) collectively agree that Daniel was continuing with the diet that he would have most commonly eaten prior to his captivity in Babylon. I’d recommend you fact check that info. Whether he ate ‘pulses and water’ prior to Daniel chapter 1 or not, it is clear that God wanted to document that fact that Daniel made a firm discussion to choose plant-based food as his choice to nutrients when given the choice to eat something else. The account in the book of Daniel shows us that if Daniel was told to eat something that would defile him, Daniel would risk death and punishment to eat that which was the ideal instead of defiling ‘himself with a potion of the Kings delicacies.’ Hope that helps, thanks so much for your comment
It's a fair point. Plant based diet is not required but it is promoted. You can eat meat and be a member, pastor or whatever, but it is preferred to eat plant based. This is more based on Genesis than Daniel, the Daniel example is just an interesting case study.

Like I mentioned in the video, it’s not pushed, but at some point people attending our church events become very aware that we believe in the benefits of eating the a plant based diet. Whether someone chooses to eat a vegetarian diet is there personal choice.
Regarding your point of what Daniel ate prior to him going to Babylon, I’d encourage you to research differently scholarly writings as there definitely is support that ‘pulses’ would have made the bulk of his normal diet, if not all of it. The Hebrews would have celebrated numerous feast days which would have called for the consumption of flesh, so we can’t rule out all the consumption of all flesh foods but we must also keep this Dan 2 in mind when making this observation. Additionally, the other significant point in Daniel’s experience is that certain foods can defile us, this point is valid regardless of whether it’s a plant-based diet or not.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It is a valid point for both sides of the argument. Because it isn't doctrinal, it's not an expectation or obligation for church membership. The SDA church definitely has a deep understanding of the Biblical evidence for a plant-based diet but its not forced on members, there's room for personal conviction.
God gives us a list of animals we can eat and can't but as long as you guys aren't weirdly saying you have to eat vegetables I can see where you're coming from. The word "meat" in the original Greek is actually "food", this passage is often used incorrectly and out of context to inaccurately argue against SDA and claim that our teachings are of demons. ❤ good information but i have researched that vegan is different than plant based religiously. As far as eating flesh it was never part God's original menu for mankind. However if we choose to eat it better to eat it as instructed in the bible, for health reasons, drain out the blood and boil the flesh removing the fat . God wants us to be healthy and obedient in our thoughts as well as actions. Eating a poor animal when there is so much better things to consume is a mental issue at this stage. @@carlnaitram6522 I appreciate your points. I believe as a church we're not trying to make food a bond on members. But I know that historically is has become that and I think we're shifting to having a more balanced perspective on why we choose to change to a plant-based diet. The most powerful point to support a plant-based diet is the evidence given in the Garden of Eden and our pre-sin state. Jesus ate meat but it also wasn't consumed to the same degree as we see meat consumed these days. There is more evidence for Jesus eating fish as a meal, while meat like lamb, was eaten for ceremonial/ feast days, which is very different to eating meat every day.

So much so that in the next verse he says
"Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;

Take up the cause of the fatherless;

Valid point. I do think there’s a bit more to discuss in using this point. God ordained the sacrificial service, which called for the killing of animals. Jesus helped Peter catch fish, which would ultimately die. So although the commandment is to not kill we have to look at each application individually.

The Priest were given permission to eat of the offered sacrifices. Lev 6:26. several other places where godly men in the old testament killed and ate animals.
The Lord shared fish to feed the multitudes. Also to make breakfast for the disciples on the beach. He certainly did not give them live.
So who are you to say that God was wrong or those godly men to kill the animals for food.
We don't have the huge hind-gut of such as a gorilla, to enable bacteria to convert all their fibrous food into the fat that the body needs.
Ergo, even if we eat vegetarian it would not be the high carbohydrate version usually depicted, instead favouring natural fats such as eggs, olives, avocado, nuts, cheese and coconut, with greens for bulk, and to a lesser extent grains, legumes, root vegetables and fruit.
Vegans have to get B12 from somewhere.
