Hey luis! Love the vids. Wanted to turn you and your viewers on to something I’ve been using for 5 years or more. It’s called “the fang”. We have a local company called “custom splice” that I get these from. The round sling is awesome and versatile. The Fang is a super quick soft hookup for damage free winching. No, I don’t get paid for posting this. 😉

I would highly suggest snaking it through one spoke on each side of the rim. This will help prevent it spinning if the vehicle doesn't have a working parking brake which should also be set if it's not a driving wheel. As for just cutting it off if it gets stuck in the caliper, why not just take the wheel off? I wish I had money like that! lol

A tow operator that knows what he is talking about when they refer to the wire rope as wire rope NOT cable and understands WLL in different configurations..nice job.

You're correct, He did excellent in this video... But just to clarify... the difference between "cable" & "wire rope" is the size. Technically, anything 3/8 inch (which is the most common size on light duty wreckers & car carriers) Those are called "cable" anything larger than 3/8 inch is called "wire rope" This is just if ya wanna be accurate... but like many words, they're often used interchangeably... kinda like Engine/Motor.. there is a difference, but even incorrectly used... it's understood.

I grab by the wheel pretty often, No need to get dirty, no hooking the wrong thing not being able to see and bending a tie rod or something, It's almost always available to hook to, It's almost always getting your rigging past any body panels, And almost always by the time you need to rerig you've already gotten out of the deep mud or snow and you can easily rerig to the frame or suspension.
Plus unlike other types of hookups hooking to the wheel allows a locked in rigging point where something has to break for it to come loose unlike a T or mini J in the frame or something like that, So if you are at a tipping risk or a runaway risk and you don't want to risk rigging slipping loose then hooking to the wheel gives you a nice secure hookup, it's got to break to runaway, if it starts to tip there is no way that's going to happen with you hooked to the wheel so long as your truck is anchored.

Yo Luis. I’m definitely your biggest fan. I watched almost every video and try to mimic your strategy as a business owner. I have a question though? I just started my towing business and I just watched 2 of your videos where you stated you charged a motor club. The one video was for a Benz, you asked 375 but they only gave you 350. How can you charge if you are contracted. I’m just trying to figure out so I can start making money to pay bills. I don’t wanna fail.

    • @towuniverse2443

You can ask them to get a supervisor approval with there extension on the PO. The problem with that is, once it gets to billing they can denie it. I would just straight up ask them for a credit card, when they ask why. Tell them youve been having a hard time getting paid.

Working load limits are key to safety. The first question the heavy operators ask is how much does it weigh, then they can figure out resistance and load limits to safely rig. Geometry and physics is also important, especially in heavy recovery. Endless loops are so versatile. I would be curious to see how well I could do in recovery because I am mechanically inclined. Common sense goes a long way.

You're 100%. I train my drivers to over rig for the situation. Better to over rig than under rig. Always know you WLL. Im sure you will be a beast at recovery !!!!!!!!!!!!

@@towuniverse2443 I would use the remotes a lot to stay out of the danger zone as much as possible. I remember Colon on Heavy Rescue 401 nearly got killed because the boom was not centered over the load with a trailer upside down and it became a swing and thankfully hit the outrigger and saving his life. I am sure there’s nothing like a winch line breaking under heavy load, the only thing worse is drivers that don’t slow down and move over.
