@@Youthman My wife loves it! She doesn't like the family room looking like that though. What gets her most excited is Plex. She can put on movies and educational shows I bought for the kids while cooking and doesn't have to waste time searching streaming sites or messing with discs.
Ryan I hope you're contractor calculated for the extra weight of all the osb in your room. You could have structure issues later on for your floor joists
Great show guys! Interesting hearing about Jonathan’s experience with 6 heights versus 4 heights in his room. I’m seeing this topic coming up more and more recently. A lot of people are starting to notice exactly what Jonathan is describing. Great timing for me, as I’ve been contemplating adding the additional 2 heights for a while now. Sometimes less is more, as they say.🤷♂️
Just did a tone generator at a reasonable listening volume. 17.5kHz is about my max. If I go higher in volume, I can probably hear it, but it's so high pitched that I don't want to.
I'm planning on building a large dedicated home Theatre With separate projection room. I would like to have a cinemascope screen of at least 150 inches but possibly larger with transparent screen. I would like some advice on projectors to use. Option 1 would be a jvc NZ900 With anamorphic lens Option 2 A second hand Barco projector which seemed to be fairly easy to source herein Europe. Either a Barco Bragi or a Barco Loki, second hand prices of these projectors range from €10,000 to €15,000 euros. These projectors seem to never get talked about on RUclips videos is there a reason for this? are they any good? Since they are cinemascope by default I wouldn't need an animorphic lens and it would come in a lot cheaper than a brand new jvc projector.

I disagree with Jonathan that 4 overhead speakers is more impressive with static 7.1.2 content than just 2. I actually prefer the presence of the discrete Top-Middle with those particular soundtracks. I do get his complaint about the Haas effect kicking in for Top-middle speakers when you have 6 heights. Not everyone is going to like that effect. I really like having Top-Middles paired with Side Surrounds directly below them. I find it makes object movemwnt through the middle zone of the theater absolutely tangible.
In his room 4 speakers is better because he doesn't sit directly below the middle tops due to his hvac being in the way. So, I think he meant to say in his room only, not necessarily for rooms that have the MLP row directly below the top middles. In his room I completely agree with him, I've been there when he's gone back and forth between 6 tops and 4 tops. I prefer 4 (in his room) with any content, not just the 7.1.2 content.
@@shiscarp yeah I understand it if its placement limited. In my room, my Top-Middles are exactly in-between my front row (at about 100°) and my back row (at about 80°)
@joeandtell, @dailyhifi cover the wiim amp don't get the monoprice m1 thing. Wiim amp far cheaper and you get way more bang for the buck. It has 4 band peq & I think there was an update that gives you 10 band peq

I always questioned why most did 4 ch atmos instead of 6. I guess now i know. Ill leave up 6 regardless

Ryan use raptor liner for your sub. It will be so much faster to paint it
