This is exactly the info I was looking for. I ordered my starlink mini yesterday and I also ordered a 5521 to usb-c PD adapter so I can run it off of a power bank. In theory it should work but I hadn't seen anyone else do it yet so I appreciate the info.
The Starlink fine print says you have to first have the regular Starlink dishy account..THEN you can ADD the mini to your plan. So in my rural area, I'm already paying $120/m for the damned dishy..I don't know why I would pay $150 to get the mini.
Thank you for putting this out. While you are using the mini at your service address of your residential service, is the mini using up some of its 50gb of data?
Yes. Any data used counts toward the total. In the account settings on the app there is a Toggle to allow additional data charges automatically when you exceed the 50gb.
Can you measure idle amp load with a multimeter? Does it get warm to the touch? Wondering how much battery I would need to run it offgrid while camping. Can you also run it at the same time as your main starlink? If so then you can rent out the mini when not using it.
I cut a cable off of a 12 volt power supply I had laying around. In my experience, a lot of power bricks that put out 12 volts use the same size barrel plug
Right now its just an extension on existing plans in the U.S. Orher areas with no congestion are allowed to get it as a single plan. I imagine the FCC also would also cause issues if the mini isn't getting the minimum standard of 100mb down 20 mb up.

I was afraid that would be the case. Still excited to get mine. Thank you very much for the clarification!

It's not for everyone, but it meets our needs. No complaints

I can use the main starlink and the mini simultaneously. I'll get back to you on the current draw
What size is the barrel connector?
5521 or 5.5mmx2.1mm
What cable are you using? I have one that I'd like to run off a power bank, but I have no idea what cable I can use. I'd like to get it onto a USB-C.

Is it possible to purchase only the Starlink Mini, or do you need to have the Starlink Standard?

@@rudolphjnWhy would FCC care?
Is that $30 in addition to your residential plan?
It is
$30 a month on top of your existing subs. You forgot to mention that?
That is correct
which website did you buy from?
Directly from Starlink
Right now you can only buy it if space x sends you a link to do so and you already have residential service.
How does it perform????
Performance seems to as good as the larger StarLink
I wonder it can powered by POE or not.
Could you please check?
I don't think so
I highly doubt that this mobile dish is POE++ (802.3bt).
No it cannot

Will do. I just need to make a mount
@@ANNEBOYD23 and video with little more tree coverage to see how it performs
It's capped at 50gb for the month. Then you will have to buy extra data packages if you exceed that . WHAT?!
Yep. $1 per each additional gb. We don't use anywhere near 50 typically
Can you help me get one please we live in a poverty country
$30? It says $120/mo on their website.
$30 for those that already have the standard plan
