    I totally agree with everything said. I noticed most if not all the tanks are level with the ground. Do you frown upon leaving it up a little bit so if the water level gets down the deer can still manage to get to it OK?

    Jeff, I was advised that I should move my 110 gallon stock tank to being on top of the ground, instead of being in the ground. He said Fawns can fall in the tank and drown. Have you ever had a fawn die in any of your waterholes?

      Hi Thomas! We currently just use the Rubbermaid 300 gallon. They are 63"x 69" and you can get them at most TSCs or fleet farm type places.

  • @kohenmossor3549

    Is the tank at 4:50 smashed in or is it a fish pond? What tanks do you think will last the longest as far as plastic/rubber in your experience with different ones, rubbermaid 100, or Tuff stuff 110 gallon Tractor Supply ones for less money? I bought three of the Tractor Supply 110 gallon tanks and dug them in a few weeks ago.

    Good stuff Jeff! First year doing your ultimate no till method and the buckwheat has germinated and is about an inch tall. You ever run into a drought like we are currently experiencing in SW WI with doing this method? Has me pretty nervous weeds will take over.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  3 года назад +1

      Hi TJ! The BW is fairly drought resistant but I am worried about the same thing where I am at. I actually waited to plant BW until I see more appreciable rain in the forecast...hoping that helps!! Hope we all get some more rain soon!

      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  3 года назад

      Hi Gary, thank you very much! I should create a video about that. Really tho, for what I do drought doesn't matter too much. I plant most of my plots during the late Summer when rain is on the increase and even if I can't plant buckwheat, I still can plant my no till plantings for the Fall. So drought doesn't hurt me that bad. I have a lot of buckwheat sitting in the pole building at home right now...

    If a property already has a water source creek/pond is it worth adding watering holes?

  • @KSandmanFishing
    @KSandmanFishing 3 года назад +1

    Jeff, is a waterhole worth any time if your property borders a river? I feel the river defines movement up and down along the wooded/cover corridor. Might be wrong. let me know!

  • @rfb7117
    @rfb7117 3 года назад +2

    So Jeff, with the current draught do you wait to plant your buckwheat, or is there a disadvantage to broadcasting it and simply waiting for rain?

    Let’s say you have 80 acres, you have a creek that runs in the middle of the property, another creek on one side of the property and on the other side there an underground spring, so in all there’s 3, most all of it is hard wood regeneration that’s 10-11 years old. But it’s hard to get near the under ground spring due to the bedding area is in the same thicket as the underground spring, 200 yards behind it is a neighborhood, one side is open hard woods “neighbor” should I clear it around the spring or leave it alone and wait for them to come out of it to a mock scrap vine, I no it’s kinda a impossible question bc you don’t no the lay out of the land but I was jw if you might of had or seen an similar scenario thanks -Alabama

    I've got 2 small run offs that come together in my food plot. always has water flowing . Not sure it makes sense to put a tub in. I planned 100#/acre buckwheat 5-29-21... pretty sure I did a fantastic job of feeding the local bird population. 😕

    Have you or anyone else used a tote or 55 gallon drum full of water to feed the waterhole and keep it full on dry falls like this one? (Ie w same technology as a gerbil water or or dog bowl water) I’d love to do that as an insurance policy. I try to put them on slopes so the fill themselves, but Mother Nature doesn’t oblige at times!

    Hey Jeff, how close should you put a mock scrape to a waterhole? In line with your stand location or a complete different direction vs the water hole? All in bow range.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  3 года назад +1

      Hi Adam! Within 10-15', within the same camera angle. Both in bow range. The scrape on the intended deer trail, the waterhole not on the deer trail

    Your stealth, tip toeing through the woods, with your eagle eyes and ears, looking and listening for your next big kill...
    Meh.. The watering hole, entrapment, trick works too tho, I guess...
    I see this video and think...
