Finally make a blood dragon review. Your weapons video was like 6 years ago.
The only thing I wanted from this game to do as Eastern-European post-USSR country citizen is a crappy cheaply made haphazard single-voice VHS translation filled with mistakes (those pirate VHS were often dubbed in a single take, more often in the same take that guy was watching movie for the first time). If Ubisoft did that for our market, I'm sure that this game would have elevated from amazing to legendary.
Because in the early 90s we had such badly translated movies like "Robot-Policeman", "Cyborg-Killer", "Tough Nut", and others.
BTW those movie titles are Robocop, The Terminator and Die Hard.
@jared Have you played dragon caster doom mod ?
@@supahgualtah really? But do these have laser eyes ?? ;)
@@AndroidFerret got a point there
The fact that there isn't a sequel yet, saddens me everyday.
@The Irishmen in practice, it is standalone game as you don't need to have FC3 to play it and its story doesn't have anything to do with FC3.
@The Irishmen Not really. I have the game on Steam, but I don't have FC3 nor have I ever played FC3. Blood Dragon doesn't seem to depend on it at all other than using the same engine and gameplay.
Probably never will be. The creator left Ubisoft during the release of Far Cry 5.
Ubisoft sucks now.
@Cataclysmic Dildoser Ubisoft is pretty stupid most of the time. They milk the hell out of AC games after everyone lost interest, but don't give people games they actually want.
Trials rising has a blood dragon dlc but I don’t know if it’s related
The only problem with Blood Dragon is that it's just too short.
Wheelchair Jimmy it’s a standalone DLC
@@ringedcashew7633 Yeah I know. I just wish we got more of it.
It has the opposite problem of every other Far Cry game.
@@cpt.shmitt7387 ikr they’re either too short or just way too damn long
Oliv First thing that comes to mind is Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed games.
I'm really glad to hear someone else loves the aesthetic changes in upgrading weapons. 90% of the reason I love upgrades in games is to see what the upgraded versions look like, not the stats they change.
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! Finally someone else who enjoys seeing them change. And that's facts!
@@anthonyharper7767 Exactly! If you're just gonna change a number, I REALLY don't care. Show me something new for my investment.
that ridge wallet would be awesome for my blockbuster membership card
I love you
Hahahahaha
I don't get those wallets, why would someone want their cash clipped on the back?
Ok boomer
@@BigboiiTone it was a joke dude.
I was actually excited with Far Cry 5's ending because I thought it would segway in to a Blood Daragon style universe
Oh shit I never thought about that. And that game was pretty era appropriate for a 2007 nuclear apocalypse if they wanted to retcon
Then New Dawn happened and it was bad.
@@Gruntvc I thought New Dawn was okay. Not perfect! Just, okay, you know?
I gave it a 6-7/10 because, yes, story is bad, but gameplay wasn't bad, and it ran well.
@@RipChordProductions Far cry 3 and 4 And vlood dragon still better
@@justgamer4785 vlood dragon?
Development costs of games have actually decreased in recent years with free, easily accessible middleware such as Unreal Engine 4 and Unity. With that, AA games have been making something of a comeback, which includes games like Destroy All Humans! (2020), Mortal Shell, A Plague Tale: Innocence, and Remnant: From the Ashes.
That and revenue cuts have increases for developers, all with EPIC 15% cut and with Valve dropping their cut from 30, to 25 to 20% after a few sales milestones (above 5, above 6 and above 7 I believe?)
So why we are charged an arm and a leg for new releases?

If these are anything to go by, games have always been very expensive to purchase, and if we take inflation into account we’re actually paying much less money for games today than back then (these images are circa 1993-1996).
@@hemidas money. They make more money
Greedfall is decent too. I'll be looking forward to their next game.
Jarek: “It somehow didn’t mention metal!”
Me, a metalhead: *visible happiness.*
Hahahah yeahh I'm feeling the same thing
Literally started watching Jarek a month ago, already seen every video he’s posted. Honestly one of the most underrated youtubers on the platform
This game is what made me aware of the whole retro sci-fi and vaporwave culture.
@Fawexx Lung Kinda? I guess?
I think you were reffering to OutRun Synthwave.
Blood Dragon before Cyberpunk
Another big thing: Skippable cutscenes!
I love them, but just wanna replay the game sometimes, and not run into a cluster of cutscenes and slow follow missions like in the middle of Far Cry 3. That totally kills it.
It's like, here's a stupid story (if you want), here are some guns, go play. Perfection.
Even one of the side missions says something like "Do you really care why this scientist needs to be saved? Just go and shoot shit and get an upgrade."
Yeah, it’s annoying, in Far cry 3 however I had a trick Unlike 4 and 5, basically there are two save files: The main Save and Auto saves. Game basically auto saves every time you buy stuff, so you never ACTUALLY have to press “save” in the main menu. I use the Main save only to play my favorite parts in the game, so I have several profiles to do that. For Blood Dragon they actually kept this option! So I’m still replaying missions in both Far cry 3 and blood dragon due to those tricks alone without all those pesky tutorials
also when your mom awkwardly walkes in when you are on the scene when citra is on top
@@oonapolla8575 Well i mean, blood dragon also has a sex scene near the end.
@@therealbubble4696 yea bro i just finished the game bt its not as bad as citra honestly
It's a short game, but omg I love it. This is like Borderlands level of humour with the elements of Far Cry and 80s Cyberpunk. I have only played an hour and a half and I already love it. Plus that Dr. Elizabeth Veronica Darling dialogue about video games, I laughed.
The first time I played blood dragon, I honestly forgot I was playing a dlc for far cry 3. Can anyone else relate?
It's a Standalone Expansion to my eye
@@ChaseMC215 Yeah... But it felt like a whole new game, not merely an expansion on an already pre existing experience. To me at least..
blood dragon was my first far cry, i remember playing the demo when it first came out multiple times until i saved up lunch money to buy the full game. i spent so many hours having so much fun, I had to 100% it. god i loved the explosive rounds on the 50 cal
That's the sniper from robocop (87)
I remember when this came out, and I loved it. The whole retro vibe, the art, the gameplay, all fantastic.
Wasnt the Explosive Sniper also in Robocop? When Clarance and his gang go to take out Alex and get military tier weapons
"Damn it, shit."
Yup, the Kobra Assault Cannon
Yeah most people don't understand that reference.
I think the sniper rifle is also a Robocop reference, based on the big antimaterial rifles they use towards the end of the movie. I could be wrong though.
KOBRA assault cannon. State of the art BANG BANG.
There is a Slayer reference in this game. When I got the minigun Rex says "it's time to rain blood." And then does the guitar part with his mouth
3:56 Isn't Borderlands 2 did the exact same thing? Side mission "Splinter Group", still remember it.
Yep, it was a Tannis mission, pretty funny tbh
One of my favorite games of all time.
The fact that you got the short but solid product made me think that all add-ons will be like this through the series of Far Cry.
Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon are still surprisingly hard to run at 4K.
A 5700 XT can do 4K60 in FC5 but it does like 40-55 fps on FC3 and Blood Dragon.
That is because of the way the games use the cpu. In FC3, BD and FC4 one core is always at 90-100% usage.
@@marko1990koliko Nah, I also mess with the core affinity in Task Manager, so I never have 1 thread at 100%. The game simply doesn't scale past 4 CPU threads and at 4K, I'm GPU bound and I can't reach a locked 60 fps.
@@raresmacovei8382 True that helps with cpu problems, but still the GPU usage for me fluctuates a lot and causes drops in to the high 40s, which is not the case in Primal, 5 or New Dawn.
There was actually a very tiny Metal reference! In the animal compendium when you read up on the Chrome Panther (or whatever) it mentions that regular panthers are already rad as fuck, adorning Metal covers and so on, haha. So, you know, at least a tiny reference.
And I guess you can take the level-up riff and the devil horns animation as a nod.
the game feels like it came out yesterday probably cause everyone and their mom finds it so memorable
I just beat this game a week ago it was probably one of the best games I've ever played.
When recording the voice work in order to get his minigun line just right the director asked him about his time working on A:CM just before hitting record!
Maybe....
Probably...
Powerglove has made more music then just for this game, and that's awesome stuff aswell.
I still find their work on bd to be their best. Their other songs are relatively mediocre like most rw.
Ah yes, this absolute GEM of a game, it's like Pure Distilled 80's and I'd love to see a Blood Dragon 2.
This game so should have been remastered or get a sequel. I am currently stuck playing the ps3 version because my pc version crashes sadly :(
Played the game for the first time this year. Except for being horribly CPU bound and only using 4 CPU threads, the game ran just fine on my 5700 XT.
@Jardmang well I mean my computer can totally handle the game on full res... but it just crashes after a specific amount of time... same with the original far cry 3. Engine bug with specific cards or something?
@@ther0n1nnamed47
Around 15 minutes into the game?
@@sayckeone yeah
The pc version is terrible, especially the Steam version. It forces the awful Uplay launcher and it glitches to heck.
I 100% the game and yet could not unlock achievements I completed.
Yeah, best version is the Xbox 360 one. It is backwards compatible on Xbox One, especially the Xbox One X.
Hey jarek just one thing i wanna say buddy: i wud actually have loooved to see a 40 minute video of this gem.
Honestly cant get enough of blood dragon.
That being said, this review was great too.
I think my favorite part of blood dragon is the cleaver references and does more than "hey look, remember this?" Like you said
I remember blasting through this game during college. Michael Biehn has always been my hero and here comes this cool looking game starring him? Yes please
Watching you stream this game is actually what got me to go back and finish the game after starting it numerous times over the years without finishing it. Can definitely say I was pleased with the experience.
They really need to do another 80s-infested Far Cry game. I think it's due to this that Ubisoft have an upcoming cartoon show inspired by Blood Dragon, even so far as to having "A Blood Dragon Vibe" in the title.
As much as I enjoyed Blood Dragon, my biggest complaint is, as you said already, how easy it is. I was able to level all the way up in one sitting through grinding and doing all of the garrisons/side content before tackling the main story. The actual campaign missions were so laughably easy I had to handicap myself and take off weapon attachments to create more of a challenge. Even the blood dragons posed very little threat by the time I began the story missions. Overall an amazing game, though. Good video!
I m playing this game at the moment, and the thing I love the most is the synth wave music. I also do agree, my favourite Far Cry are Blood dragon and far cry 2
The best thing about Blood Dragon is it absolutely does not give a fuck, giving it complete freedom.
it’s fuckin crazy this dude is still around making good content. i been watching you since i was 14 now it’s 6 years later and you’re still kicking. keep up the good content you’re a big reason i got into airsoft and big into vidya guns.
Haven't started the video yet, but my #1 memory of this game is loving the hell out of it and getting blueballed like a mofo by the ending. I should give it another run sometime.
I always loved this game to death, I loved the 80's futuristic vibe and how you felt like a terminator/supersoldier going thru enemies and fighting dragon's, this game will always be a classic.........if you want to play a terminator game just get this instead of terminator resistance till it gets more terminator dlc
Just when I was saying my day couldn't get any better
This game got me into synth music and to channels like new retro wave
Holy shit, same.
Glad I caught some of the stream, it was a blast
Everyday I think of how we need Blood Dragon 2: Electric Boogaloo
The only time when this meme is funny and realistic
I literally loved this game so much! It was only when people on the net started sharing their thoughts on it that I realized I wasn't the only one! No one/None of my friends really played it so When I found out how much it was enjoyed, I just was happy for the devs! Wish it was longer & give us wayyyyyy more! I know that they made the "Expansion" with the 2 ladies but haven't played it yet! I need to ASAP!
The video didn't even have a chance to start before I smashed TF outta that like button, I've never read a video title more true in my life 😤
Subbed cuz you're a metalhead my dude
And nice vid
Good video! Just one detail, Both the Pistol and the Sniper Rifle's designs are from the first Robocop movie. Later in the first movie there is a scene where the guys who killed Murphy steal an explosive sniper rifle and go blowing stuff up, it looks exactly like the sniper rifle from the game
How to make a good game: Shooting bad guys, Big Lasers, Explosions, and a huge fucking dragon that shoots bad guys with big lasers that explode.
This is the only game ive ever gotten every achievement for
Just got through beating this again, definitely my favorite FarCry
Your cybernetic hand in the game is actually a reference to the cover of Autograph's album *Sign In Please*.
Especially when the game is/was for free for a limited time
Games with gold?
The only issue I had with Blood Dragon is that it felt too short.
Also I forgot my UPlay account password, so I can no longer play the game unfortunately. Other than these two things, it was beautiful, funny, and a blast to play. It felt different from other games, even if it was ultimately still Far Cry 3 and the gunplay was absolutely stellar. I think the main reason I remember the game feeling so short is because I mainly stealthed the garrisons or just liberated them using a Blood Dragon.
100% agreed, badass story, badass open world, SYNTHWAVE... so fucking amazing and I couldn't own it... it was a friend's game 😞😞
We are in 2024 and, faced with so many super disappointing or semi-disappointing premieres, I find this game from 2013 and it blows my mind. SUPER fun and ahead of its time in some ways. Every game should have a Blood Dragon expansion and the world would be a better place XD
Idk that shotgun can end up with 4 barrels.... sounds like phantasm to me 👀
The game did mention metal if you count Alice Cooper
We need blood dragon 2 that is straight up a full length game
Loved Blood Dragon, played it on the PS3
This is what games are supposed to be like, it doesn't always need to make sense, just have fun!!!
Blood dragon is fucking awesome. First and only game I've ever completed to 100%, first platinum trophy I earned, first game I've played more than 5 times. Got some good laughs, especially when meleeing the air
Not gonna lie I thought primal sounded really stupid until I finally played it and now it’s one of my favorite farcry games.. blood dragon is my favorite tho, primal is second. Farcry 6 is coming out in less than a week and I’m excited
Guys, I don't know why those opening lines of dialogue tickle my heartstrings......but I still love it. Great video Brotha. I enjoy your uploads and thoughts on the matter. Peace out my friend ;)
I think it's worth mentioning that back in 2015 ubisoft create a polls about what kind of setting future far cry game going to be and sequel to blood dragon is one of them.
www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-01-05-ubisoft-polls-public-on-future-far-cry-settings
I just played this for the first time the other day, omg definitely my favorite game. The dry puns, all out 80s, great soundtrack, I am addicted. Wish there were more games like this. I absolutely lost my composure when I started playing and Little Richard's Long Tall Sally played. I had much laughter and was blown away, and also I love that song, it holds a special place in my heart.
Truth be told... I think I enjoyed blood dragon more than far cry 6.. lol hope they make a full length blood dragon sequel some day
As a kid that couldn’t afford 3, I LOVED this game
I’m almost positive Rex makes a Slayer reference at some point. I think he hums raining blood.
Ive never played this game, I know absolutely nothing about it expect that people love it and five seconds in, I'm loving it too
I still have my disc copy from the Far Cry collection on 360. Was just playing again recently. There are so many cool references from the 80s you can easily miss the first time through. Awesome game!
Atmosphere, music, colors and lights
So 80’s , i love it!!!!
Someone has finally verified my love for this game fuck yes
Man, Jarek, you DEFINITELY SHOULD play that Doom mod Guncaster. It's got everything.
An Anthro Dragon protagonist.
He can do magic. (Breath fire, freeze enemies, spinning goats, summon lightning!, etc.)
He can weild guns. (Hellboy's "pistol", possessed quadbarrel shotty, auto multi shot rocket launcher, etc.)
A godtier power up that makes you listen to some metal music!
Shopkeepers with personality... or hot dragoness appeal. ;)
Oh, I thought the ninja turtles reference was a Mario one 😂
I just started playing this again. Awesome soundtrack
best quote of blood dragon: at least i dont have to collect feathers
or something in that category
this has been sitting in my steam library for about 8 months, ive played far cry 2-5 multiple times, ive bought every far cry when they came out, except for 1 and 2, how have i not played it yet.
Yeah you are right they didn't put any metal references in there I didn't really think about it until you said this but now that you said it I also think they should've done that. Even though I played the game 100 percent and finished every single mission, achievement, collectibles or whatever in the game, I still learned some new things about it thanks to this video. Btw, this is a good honest review, keep the great work up, love your vids, man!
"Space................Earth."
This is the line that officially won me over, It's the first line in the game.
There actually was a Slayer reference in the game, I don’t remember when but Rex was humming the into to the song Raining Blood after I killed someone. It was that or a tune very similar to it.
I think this is the only Far Cry (Post 2) that I've enjoyed personally. The writing is funny and the straightforward story just lets you get into the gameplay without being interrupted by length cutscenes.
I’ve been waiting for this! Nice video Jarek!
The game and the movie hobo with a shotgun also with powergloves music made the whole retro synthwave scene. Blood dragon screensavers are used on synthwave videos backsrounds all the time.
Amen on this review / analysis, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon isn't only the best Far Cry game, it's one of the best Video Games ever made, IMO this game can hold it's own to the likes of DOOM, HALO & Bioshock in the FPS genre! :)
Godzilla could have a neon lizard shooting a helicopter down I'm honestly not sure
Finally, Its not Just me Who Thinks that FC3BD is the Best Far Cry Game.
The sniper remind me if that scene from robocop where the guy says"I like it"
If Far Fry 6 doesn't have Blood Dragon 2 as an expansion I'm going to be very sad :(
Jarek mentioned Iron Maiden... Truly a man of culture gg
I...actually didn't. All respect to maiden but thrash is more my style.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon I thought you did lol you still have good taste dude
FYI. Pickup the Terror 4000 and listen to Rex. He loves metal.
YEEEEEEEEEEEES I LOVE THAT SOMEONE BRINGS ATTENTION TO THIS GEM
Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon are the best Far Cry games I have ever played🙌🏼😭
Thing about a Blood Dragon 2... It'd never reach the heights of the OG. Now what we do want is to be able to see the devs make something for the sake of fun again. Let them experiment between the main games to try and freshen up the franchise/genre
I need to replay this. I never appreciated Far Cry when I first played this. Finishing up NG+ FC5 right now. Will have to play this again!!!
Game so good it made me create a playlist of the ost to listen while driving
There is a reason why I bought Blood Dragon on all platforms, it's just damn good! Plus, the 360 was the ONLY one that got a physical print of Blood Dragon... other than EU getting some physical PC prints.
Thares a good few metal references in the diolauge during combat if u pay attention
While I don't care about most Ubisoft games, I absolutely loved this game. One of the most uniquely feeling games in a long time. It just has so much style and atmosphere. Maybe this is where Ubisoft used all the personality they don't use in AC and FC games.
My only complaint was the game wasn't long enough and didn't get sequels. Blood Dragon is friggin amazing. It holds a permanent place in my top 10.
Keen on far cry 6 season pass can’t wait to play this remaster
