@@mamajuana3603 baseball was stale before the WBC became more competitive and the US started losing to Japan/DR. The new international audience convinced MLB to improve their branding and entertainment value which has been good for the game in general

Imanaga started the final of the WBC against USA and held his own against the likes of Betts, Trout, Goldschmidt, Schwarber and Turner, he’s a stud.

Ohtani shines because of his humanity and respect for his opponent. It's not easy to be humble at the top. I think Imanaga's pitching is cool and Ohtani's respect for his opponent is cool.

The improvement that I’ve seen with Ohtani this season is he doesn’t strike out very fast now, he can battle with his AB’s. He is slowly getting better as a hitter his first MVP season he struked out quite a bit and his second MVP season it was an improvement and he struked out less but this season he is better imo, it just doesn’t show in the stats yet.

He has crazy protection with the dodgers, that's why his average is high. They also call balls and strikes different for him. He's a product of major league baseball, not skill.
Imanaga's strength is the 4 seamer with high spin rate. It can reach 2500+. That's why even when he pitches only around 94mph, the ball seem to elevate at the plate.

What a showdown! I'm a Dodgers/Ohtani follower, but was also impressed with Imanaga as well as other Chicago Cubs players in this series (Did you see a super-catch ? My hat off to that guy!) Also, the Chicago baseball fans cheering in the cold rain.. they and these wonderful baseball players deserve a decent indoor facility. I also wanted to see an unstoppable game and give Imanaga the first win.
So far looks like the Cubs got the superior pair of the Japanese imports this year. Shota Imanaga looks great and Seiya Suzuki is getting comfortable in the MLB after 2 mostly quiet seasons.

Ohtani is clearly in a high form. That double was a home run if it was the Dodgers stadium! He has even improved! Oh my gosh. Does this make sense? God of baseball

Yeah, we don't see the triple and the RBI double by Ohtani, but this is about a specific matchup. As for Ohtani and his improving form, he's finally getting in a groove this season. He does work the counts more. And what really makes him at his best is when he gets the Ohtani-meets-Elvis sneer going like he does at the 2:22 mark.
That was a good battle. The umpire did miss a strike, which extended the matchup. A star is born. Nice outing Imanaga-san!
It didn't extend the matchup. There was no call strike after that, he fouled them all, meaning that if that was called a strike it would have been 2 strikes until the last pitch. That miss call was almost inconsequential.

After they took my dude, Shoto out of the game after only 43 pitches and four innings😅 but good series happy to see the cubs able to beat a contender to show they aren’t nobodies early in the season
Great command with that fastball up and in and slider outside corner. The first slider that was a ball looked awfully good, and I can’t believe the second slider wasn’t called a strike. I would take a consistent 90-94 mph fastball with that kind of pinpoint accuracy over 98-102 mph all day. That command is what makes the best pitchers elite.

Why did they take shoto out after only 4 innings he had only two hits and was at only 43 pitches
They had a 2 hr rain delay after the 4th inning so he won't come back since that's a long of time to rest. It's hard to try to keep yourself warm so that your arm is still hot. He has already cooled down after the rain delay.
