The Eastcore has switched from Canon and Nikon to the Sony A7III The Eastcore Photojournalists Toronto - theeastcore.com Hair & Makeup by Al of A List Beauty - alistbeauty.ca
Really interesting video. I'm also a pro weeding shooter and I've just bought a A7III 1 month ago. For the moment I shoot with a A7III and a D750. I've done two weddings and 4 lifestyle sessions. The only thing I can tell right now, is that I will sell ALL my Nikon gear (except my 58mm 1.4 maybe). I really don't expect me to tell this one day... but this camera is a workhorse. It's so simple to use once you learned and configured it. It's a time saver. Autofocus is from another league, no comparison possible with DSLR. You can focus on your photos and relax because you will have more keepers than with DSLR. Eye auto-focus is a game changer, period. It's really lighter at the end of the day, even with big primes. These some things that are not on par with DSLR like battery life, but with two, you shoot +12hours wedding. Silent shooting is incredible. Stabilized sensor is a big bonus. So I completely understand your video and I think you've lost a lot of other features than simplify life at work. I'm a Nikon/Canon shooter since +15 years... but that was before.
Pedro Silva you’re going to have some lag before you can preview your images. With that said, what you see is what you get when shooting. So you need to learn to trust your camera. Go back after the lag and see and be wowed.
A year later are you guys still happy with your switch? them canon RF Lenses are looking juicy. there's also a trend happening a lot of sony and other brand shooters are switching to the canon eos r..I'm thinking maybe you guys jumped the gun a bit too early. I look forward to your next test with the Canon EOS R with the RF Lens.
Something seems super strange about the Nikon test. I have both the Nikon D850 and D750, neither of which have severe AF issues like the D4s in this video. I find it hard to believe the D4s would have major issues like that. I also own the 85 1.4. I've never really had that many issues with it either. The only time I've had major back or front focusing was in really lowlight or heavily backlit situations. My pictures are usually slightly soft with that lens, but not out of focus.
Great video you guys! Also, this video brought me to your website, and I was really impressed. I love that you guys keep the photojournalism style alive. As an new wedding photographer myself, I'm really inspired your work. I'm definitely going to put a lot more research into photojournalism, because I think that's the direction I want to take my work. Really awesome stuff! Cheers!
I switched over to the A7iii. I wholeheartedly agree with your assessments. The tracking and autofocus is unreal. They all take great pics but the user experience and simplicity of use is above and beyond better with the Sony.
Hi Guys.... I too switched from Canon 5d mkiii and the focus is incredible on the a7iii... I am a wedding shooter and this tool helps me with my work... I get tremendous artful results, and the color and skin tones are just fantastic..... Now is Sony perfect not hardly ...... However once you use it it is hard if not impossible to return to the old technology....... I still have a bunch of canon lenses but am getting rid of them as I now have Sony native glass. P.S. I have shot Canon for years and it is Cool..... I have shot Canon since the film days!!!
Big serg 27 i sold my a73 and bought eos r back again. I switched to sony earlier because of these mf crooked peopel and sold my eos r but now my eyes are opened and i switched back to canon
Thank you guys for the section at 9:36, this happens to me all the time with my 35 art/5diii set up and I always had a feeling it was more of a camera issue than a lens issue but I could never confirm it. Can you guys do a follow up with a tamron 70-200 2.8? I’m a wedding photographer and that lens is vital to my work flow. Again great job with this video!
"with my 35 art" hei i have the same proble on some body "canon 6d" 1.But with micro adjustments work ok on mark II and no ajustment work ok with mark III 2.But with canon 6d you can have sharp and focused image with live view focus :D
Ya they just marketing sony by turning down the exposure and whitebalance on canon and sony. You have to decide what they are doing. Canon colors are best. I own sony,ma73, 5dnakr 3 and eos r. Canon colors are best and retouching on lightroom is easy and not time consuming. Chk the photos on sony looks skin tone like jaundice
These testemonials sound a bit like an outdated ad. "Oh, we were not convinced... we didn't hear about..." etc, "but we picked one up..." and the heaven has opend up :/
So as a A7III owner...I think the auto focus hands down wins against others but the color science is a pain in the ass...However since I shoot weddings i love knowing I will have more sharp images...I can fix color...I cant fix a missed shot
Agreed.....but if the time is taken you can color balance the Sony any way you want. It has that ability, but focus is still the strong point. The new Canon and Nikon systems have yet to nail down eye focus. They will do it eventually, and then everyone will be cheering their eye focus capabilities !
Switch to capture one pro and you won't have any issues with color tone anymore. It's Lightroom that's a pain in the ass... I made the switch and it's worth it. The raws look better.
Sony has always issue with colors, my a73!is crap with skin tones. Canon eye autofocus is improved and now they are coming up with improved eye af from a distance. Also we never had eye autofocus still pros used it using single point focus. Eye af is good but dont make it necessity to nail the focus . Plus it takes lot if time to correct a single photos. In wedding we take 100’s of phtotos and cant give that much time to edit. Canon colors are easy to manage and retouching.
Awesome video!! I agree with you. Having the Sony A7iii i get a lot more sharp images b/c of the Eye-AF or Face. If i don't get the box from Eye-AF at least it shows the box around the face. It's pretty darn accurate. I switched over from Canon back in January.
Great camera... I use native lenses and A-Mount lenses via adapter (Eye Focus available with Sony LA-EA3 adapter)! Great camera for photos and video...
Great video, I hoped that Canon af issues would be solved with 5d mark iv which I wanted to switch to, but from what you show it is just the same... all that inconsistency.. I sometimes feel that there's something wrong with the lens but in controlled environment it performs ok. It is only during photo shoots when I get lots of blurry photos and I need to overshoot to make sure I am ok. And as you pointed out with Sigma 35mm 1.4 I get the same results with 50mm 1.2 shot from the distance. I prefer to use live view and manually focus and punch in. That way I have 100% acurracy otherwise it's a hit or miss.
I got a lot of gifts from various people lately. Among those gifts, I have received 2 iPhone X from two of my closest people. I wish they had put their cash on A7iii lol because I still use iPhone 5s and a large Android piece, I'm happy.
My focus hit rate 5D MK4 (native lenses close indoor w strobes) is 97% +. I shoot adult so the eye focus is not necessarily the focal point :) This vid MAINLY touts the eye focus. I will try Sony but my workhorse just performs!
I was hoping you could shed some light on my delemma but it seems that this testing does not seem correct. Just one and simple question: Why did you not use the same pose for all the 3 pictures you were comparing? The most flattering image was the one taken with the Sony... Could I suggest to do the same pose with the 3 cameras next time so that they can truly be compared? The Focus issue on the Nikon is weird. I have never seen anyone missing so many shots with the D3/D4/D5 cameras. Maybe though you are correct and Sony is the best there is. However in my tests, Eye-Autofocus was not reliable either as it picked the eye it wanted and not necessarily the closest one. Could you verify the same issues?
Fabien Mathey also, if you look carefully, the photo that was taken with the a7iii was shot at 1/500 compare to 1/800 on the canon and 1/1000 on the Nikon. And he said that the photos were underexposed compared to the Sony. The model had light lit on her when she was photographed with the a7iii too, while she was shot with nothing lighting her face/body when the canon and Nikon were used. Sony, your color science sucks and it’s not a secret. Stop making shit videos like this and lie to consumers.
I wouldn't say that their color science sucks - they are just a little different. Sony cameras are very good now in the third generation... Plus, when shooting raw, you can add your own profile to match the files as you so desire.
Amazing Sony advert. No down sides to the Sony A7iii? I use the Nikon d750 which is a real work horse of a camera. I worry with the Sony how durable it is over time. Will it be reliable enough at events etc.
Hi, I own a Sony a7111 and I agree that it is a very good camera but I also own a Nikon D5 and a D 500 both of which in low light conditions I would trust more than the Sony to get accurate focus. The D5 was a huge improvement over the D4s when it comes to focusing but then again it should be as it’s much newer. I’m not knocking the Sony as I have stated I’ve got one and yes the eye focus is very good but I think you’ve gone a bit overboard with the praise.
Hi, thank you for your tests. It's good to have people proposing those videos. There is a mistake though concerning dslr focusing. When you shoot a static subject with continous focus, the dslr camera will focus right in the first place but, by asking the camera to focus again and again will tell the camera to seek after a better focus and it will ruined the focus. The reason why Sony can do that is because of the af technology (contrast). Wanna do a better and more reliable test ? Do the same (coninuous focus) but put dslr's in liveview mode (to compare how contrast focusing does the job). Or, (better test imho) put dslr in one shot af, focus ONE time and defocus between each shots. That's how it is meant to work for static subjects. I'm pretty sure you will have decent results. But, Sony give a real advantage with the continous focus giving good results for static and moving subject. Thanks again for your videos :)
Eye af is great tracking af performance is also awesome. It also tracks the eyes as tracking. But if you're shooting a static model like the video test, Sony's downside. Even if the eye af detects the eye well, is not clear when moved to the PC. Especially in studio shooting, I couldn't focus at all (slower than F 5.6) even single af. For that reason, I stopped using Sony. But for shoots moving subjects, Sony is unique.
I really liked the part where the photographer pulled out the D4 and proceeded to shoot in portrait mode but ignore the fact that there is a built in battery grip. Quality fail, well done.
justlovethisgame well said, they might got a free camera from sony to do this review and criticize canon and nikon so that we can sell our gears and buy sony that take sharp eye focus images zombies in yellow and green tinge
EsPhotography it almost shouldn't matter at all... Such an easy subject; optimal distance, no movement, decent lighting, the AF point right over her eye... There's no excuse for any camera to miss by such a margin, let alone an expensive pro level body like the D4s.
Therefore you are saying that the D4s is no capable of doing such a simple task. I took pictures in similar conditions with more basic Nikon models and cheaper lenses (at f/1.8) with almost 100% success. Or your camera/lens have some issue or you are doing something wrong. I have done similar jobs with Sony cameras too and the job is easier but I did not experiment such a different achievement in terms of focus performance. I would like to say that I always shoot nikon and now I shooting Sony too. I am not in favor of any of them, I like both. Someone with no experience after watching this video could believe that before eye AF it was almost impossible to be a portrait photographer, hard to believe for me.
well theres no point in denying what is clear. I have used the Nikon D7000, D700, D80 etc, while I love em for landscape stuff, the AF accuracy was not up to par! The earlier Sony Mark 1 was slow and a bit inaccurate sometimes, but the Mark 3 was just flawless 😋👍 Please don't kid yourself, back in the day Nikon togs must use AF-C or large enough DOF, but some of them maybe is lucky. the point is getting that flawless shot is very easy with the Mark 3 Sony.
$4000 for camera and lenses. Why would I do that when I'm already producing great pictures. Sounds like pixel peepers are getting drained. Yashica Electro GN - first camera Canon AE-1- the one still use today Canon EOS 630 - AF Mamiya C33 - med.format Canon 600D - video Canon 80D - DPAF and touch screen I still have all these cameras. They are either years apart, do different things or have made jumps in tech. Not just got a little better.
Yeah and I call BS or horrible photographer, because I use the D4s everyday and there is no way that in the situation I would have had any images completely out of focus or hitting somewhere other than the face. I think I could easily get 9/10 in focus and on or close enough to the eye, if not right on the eye every time. Of course the Sony does this much easier and I would say is the best camera for portrait shooters.
im an urbexer, i still have my 7d with 16-35L and i still love how the shots look, you just need to know what you are doing. the video is well made but i think the canon is still a great option, i love canon L lenses..... sry sony. (one day i might try my 16-35 with a good adapter in a a7iii)
Except for in terms of AF performance and ease of moving AF point, dynamic range, ability to accept Canon and Sony A mount glass with AF and nearly every manual lens ever made giving it an absurd lens library, being on complete opposite ends of the quality spectrum in terms of video, and a higher max shutter speed. But other than that, no, it can't beat the D750.
Are you joking? -"af this, af that" , what part of automatic you did no get? -oh yeah sure, specially the dynamic range part...to say such thing it is clear you have never edited a d750 file -"ability to accept Canon and Sony A" with the d750 you are able to use ones the best glasses and library in the world, why in the hell I would want to use sony or canon glass? I must give you a point for the video and higher shutter, wich means kinda little here...
I had that once when a guy said I had made him look ugly, I said I would soften the image but if I go too far he'll look like Odo from Star Trek. He then said it looked like I had given him a shave so I replaced his face with Odo from Star Trek!
That is a simple fix with a coordination between ISO and Shutter Speed......timeless classic style, very close to the way we had to do it in the film days.
A simple increase in your ISO can add the necessary noise to get not make the facial images too soft. It all has to do with whether you are taking photos of the Male or Females. And it has to do with the old days of either using Color or B/W. We would use B/W to show the rough skin of the average male and would shoot at a higher ISO (20 to 400) and that would work well. For Ladies we would shoot low ISO (50 to 64) and it would give us a smoother skin at low shutter speeds. I have the a6000, a6500, and the A7II and a7III, and my go to camera these days are the a6500 if I need the reach, and the a7III for portraits, business and executive photos, and out in the wild. The a6500 comes out for the aircraft and air to air shots. Lighting will help your capabilities well......not a cheap flash, but a good one that you can change the power on, and that will help with facial tones as well. I use it for Kiddo shots and it works well with their skin tone and balance.
I find it extremely hard to believe that the top Canon and Nikon camera bodies in the hands of seasoned pros cannot autofocus on a still subject with prime lenses... really? What's going on here?? I've used Canon 5DMKIII with "L" lenses for 5 years or so and autofocus is not an issue. Yes Canon underexposes but we all know that; its for protection of the user's images and that's why you have exposure compensation. Canon does not typically have a cool temperature unless you ask for it; it is typically warm on skin tones. Sony, on the other hand, typically uses a cool color bias in its chemistry. I also shot Nikon D750 for a few years and had beautiful renderings (Nikon's particular chemistry) with spot-on autofocus. Something just doesn't add up in this 'commercial'...
Ryan Tran yes they are biased i have sony a73 and canon eos r and makr 3 , they are focus well but canon gives better colors and takes less time on lighyroom to edit
Loved this video, and I whole-heartedly agree with your findings! The thing that you guys failed to mention was that with the a7iii, you can now confidently shoot with f/1.4, f/1.2 (and wider) lenses on moving subjects and STILL get tack sharp focusing! AND, have focus point that go to the edge of the frame!!!
This feels very much like an infomercial. Nothing against the Sony, kudos for what they've accomplished, but in that first test the subject in the Sony shot is much closer to the camera, filling much more of the frame. This will radically change exposure and white balance readings of any camera. The subject is not just a little further away but several FEET further away on the Canon and Nikon. Of course the cameras are going to shift their exposure average and white balance to include more of the background. Sorry, but it certainly seems that this test was specifically set up to mislead.
Yes true and even sony camera dont give so much natural pleasing skin tone . Sony is like jaundice on the face. They bunch of craps are misleading us. Very bad
I have no idea how you can get so many shots with a D4S and 85 1.4 under such weather. I shoot portraits with a D700 and 85 1.8 and have no issues whatsoever when hand is stable, lighting is ample such as yours AND I focus/recompose. Heck, it gets the money shots with a 35 2.0 under really terrible lighting too. I understand Nikon has backfocus issues, but this is exagerated.
@@goctoi1234567 I shoot 5d4 primarily and am looking at a a7iii. Have a Sony a6500 and have looked at Sony a7 mark ii. The mark ii shots look cooler. The tests out of the mark iii look like they have greatly reduced noise and improved color.
Why is the Sony so much closer to the subject than the Nikon and Canon? That will give an advantage to focus and sharpness. I don't disagree with the video, but that is a fact.
I'm sure you didn't deliver this kind of oof images to your clients. The advantage for sony is that it finds the eye, with the dslr you need to select it. So i agree when you said effortless but don't make us believe you can't take photos in focus with canon or nikon.
Lots of comments on how this is an ad for Sony. So many triggered commenters. (Typical RUclips crybabies). Get over it. Maybe don’t click on any videos titled “Switch from Canon to Sony”. Criticizing is one thing, being completely narrow minded is another. And who cares if the vertical grip wasn’t used, it probably wasn’t his preferred set up since all 3 photographers shared the camera. I appreciated this review. Problems? Go shoot with all three systems for yourself. And stop nitpicking photographers who are creating good content for our benefit. Great job guys.
Best yet review and helping me make my decision. Today the EOS R is out. But, it lacks dual card slots and IBIS plus not really eye AF. Your commentary on the canon lens ( I actually have all sigma primes &70-200 with a Can So you have completed the decision process. THANKS
@@anoophcl You just don't seem to understand the fact that Canon's 5D4 is outdated and its sensor is not even in DXOMark's top 25 anymore, well there's not one Canon in the top 25. Even the AF in many (much cheaper) camera's is way better. Dream on!
I could go on about a bad workman blaming his tools but you obviously don't buy into that theory, would also say I thought by your title you were a photojournalist but it's clear your a wedding photographer.
I actually switched from Sony to Nikon and then Canon, but it definitely wasn't because they were "superior" cameras. They just checked more boxes for what I do currently. Also Canon color is overrated in my opinion.
I dont shoot weddings - just a hobbyist and I have the 6D2 and the A73 with MC-11 and bunch of L lenses along with one Sigma 35 Art F1.4 and I would rather take the Canon out anytime. I enjoy it more than the Sony. The A73 is now just a walk around body since its smaller and lighter and does 4K video however when I go out shooting landscape around GTA the 6D comes out. It feels real. I feel connected via the OVF to the camera. MInd you I don't make money from my images. I simply take 5-10 minutes to take a single shot and I enjoy it. It's a relaxing hobby where I found that with the Sony I got frustrated more. For one I can not see the grey focus point/marker under certain lighting conditions. Also the colors need more messing around with in RAW compared to my Canon. I will keep the Sony and get the 24-105G lens once it's in stock but overall I enjoy the Canon more. Not bashing Sony just simply saying for my enjoyment Canon wins. I recently had my daughters graduation and I trusted the 6D2 with the 24-70Mk2 F2.8 and all images were in focus even at 2.8. I also had the 35 Sigma for low light where it did miss focus on one shot due to the super narrow DOF. Perhaps the Sony could have helped in that instance but a single photo out of many is minor. Watching your video I just felt that I better just toss my Canon in the garbage.
For us, the simple fact that we no longer chimp for exposure, colour, or even AF, the game has changed. Having confidence in your equipment is key in professional photography, and going from DSLR to the Sony mirrorless, our confidence increased exponentially. We shoot 99% keepers now, as opposed to maybe 80% with DSLR. Sure, there's a certain feeling you get with a DSLR, just like with an old vinyl record...But if I'm feeling nostalgic, I'll shoot film. For work, I'll take the shortest distance to finished, and the Sony gets me that much closer.
So I decided to take the Sony instead of my Canon 6D2 with the kit lens , Sony 85 F1.8 , Sigma MC11 with Canon 24-105 and Canon 16-35 F4 to Europe for a 3 week vacation, I always took the battery out , face the sensor down and change lenses as quick as possible in safe environments and enabled the cleaning mode right after and yet many photos and videos have dust spots. I can fix the photos but the videos are ruined, I'm shocked how much dust this sensor attracts. This is insane. I checked the sensor and cleaned it when I left using a small Fstop like F22 and bright white background and over the 3 weeks with many lens swaps the sensor was full of spots. I cleaned it a few times with the blower in the hotel rooms but eventually the spots re appeared. If I could go back in time I would have packed my Canon. I may have cleaned my old 6D once or twice over the 5 years I had it. I just dont get it. I have been using Panasonic Gx8 and G85 mirrorless in the past on travel trips and never had this much dust in 3 weeks.
Just sell the Sony already. you prefer to shoot landscape with a 6D while you have a 14-15 stops dynamic range in your possession, fail! Every camera will give a different color response, no one camera will be better just different. Get a color checker fgs. Now your talking about dust.. just sell the damn thing lol
Captivating Video, and clever testing, makes you want to have a Sony, but hey, I shoot weddings with my Nikon set up and do not have any of the focusing issues that you mention, I agree the Nikon 85m sucks its a crap lens, but hey you having to put Canon lens on a Sony to test, also the ergonomics and menu system on the Sony are very poor, I tried the Sony A9 and yes the focus performance is breath taking. but to hold the camera it was very uncomfortable. Oh you forgot to mention all those batteries you need with a Sony. Sorry guys Sony have a long way to go before I will ever consider the system for my business. Nikon will launch their Mirrorless offering soon and with a huge lens range Sony will be put on the back shelf. If I had bought a Sony A9 at launch £4.5K (UK) I would have lost a huge amount of money in such a small time scale, You can now buy for £2.7K that a huge chunk of cash to loose on a camera. Lastly, would my clients notice a difference.... No.
Heart Weddings Photography this is what sonyfanboy dont understand or choose not to believe it. Sony will obselete their product in such a very shot period of time. And this is not good. What a waste of money. Cheers..
yeah the ergo is weird one you first get it but you can work your way around it and set it up the way you personally use. After that no menu diving so much. No you don't have to have many batteries since the Z battery version (A9, and Mark 3s). Now otoh, Nikons MLC looks rather laughable, single slot, weak 350 shots battery, slow AF.. lol better sell those F mount lenses fast
I appreciate your choice. But my mind as a photographer and let's say connoisseur can not understand a thing. How is it possible to make such a comparison between DSLR and Mirrorles? There are two separate things two entities in their own way. you can make a comparison of the image quality itself. But I doubt that Sony's photography got Nikon and Cannon last in this aspect. Sin!! If you want to convince yourself, do it in the same range: mirrorles with mirrorles and if then the choice is justified.
I have a 1dxii and a A7riii my canon lenses work far better on my 1dxii. Shooting with my 1dxii is also more enjoyable and accurate. The resolution is great on a7riii the noise at higher iso is not. My 1dxii files are much more pleasant overall. Sony has more detail but also double the resolution.
Why should I buy a system with a performance of 10-12 years on the camera market? I prefer systems with an experience of more than 90 years, cause pros need continuity and system compatibility over decades. Working with Nikon since 1985, I use my first lenses with new Nikons. Sure, that you can get Sony gear for actual cameras in 15 years?
I use a Nikon D750 and I can barely remember having missed focus.. Nikon has one of the best focusing systems.. and then you say a D4s couldn’t focus.. lol
A DSLR camera in live view mode is shooting slow. No DSLR photographer would use live view for continuous shots. Your photography style changed in this video instead the view finder you're using the lcd screen for focusing and framing. Mirrorless cameras will change photography because it is more easy through the WYSIWYG approach to get the right exposure but for flash/speedlite shooting this advantage is gone. For landscape photography In shadow areas a DSLR camera like the Nikon D850 has the advantage over the Sony A7 III. Common banding issues of mirrorless cameras in shadow areas you did not mentioned in this video.
I mean I'm probably going to to buy the sony but I've shot with almost every nikon since the d70 and I've never had pictures of people standing still out of focus like that. If that were the case how the hell has anyone used nikon or canon in a professional environment? I call bs on this video.
The production quality of the video is just awesome. You guys did a great job, so surprising for such a low sub count! Every time I heard "eh-boo-et" I chuckled. Yeah, it's an amazing camera for what you get, especially given the price. Great job once again, keep at it!
The a7iii is a great camera with new tech inside, not doubt there, wonderful item. But this video is not fair towards the Nikon in a few regards. Firstly comparing it to an older, 4 years older, D4s is not a balanced test, take it up against a D850, D750 even a crop D500 and I promise you will not get such bad results, even if your technique is not so great, hold that thought, here's another point to consider, if the Nikon D4s is not faulty and the lens is not faulty, and you fail to get 9/10 shots in focus...it's not the gear, it's you.
Hello! Does your A7 III lags when continuous shooting Hi? Just got mine a week ago and i want to figure it out...
Pedro Silva you’re going to have some lag before you can preview your images. With that said, what you see is what you get when shooting. So you need to learn to trust your camera. Go back after the lag and see and be wowed.
I'm really curious whether any further review for camera Fuji XT-3 among the Canon, Nikon & Sony. Look forward to see the video if any.
Hi Still worth the money for 2020? I am a still photographer and looking for an upgrade to full frame camera. Would you still recommend?
My pictures are usually slightly soft with that lens, but not out of focus.
well try a Sony.. my last Nikon was good (D700), perhaps very good at that time but it can't hold a candle now..
They all take great pics but the user experience and simplicity of use is above and beyond better with the Sony.
where did you get that skin tone reference chart?
Do you find that there is a shutter delay on AFC?
Guys, what lens did you use for the photo at 13:06?? just lovely
Why are they viewing thru the screen? why they don't use the viewfinder? Still not convinced about Sony
Thanks for the great video! What lens adapter are you guys using?
Alonya Eisenberg the mc-11
For the sigma 35mm. Did you use the same canon mount with adapter on sony?
It was the exact same lens, yes.
I have a Nikon D610 and a Nikon D3 and never had problems with autofocus as shown in this video!
Insane. Can't wait to get mine.
Hey guys I what to buy my very first camera which one should i get canon r or sony a7iii
You're welcome! Unfortunately we don't have the Tamron 70-200, and likely won't ever, as we really only use prime lenses.
"with my 35 art" hei i have the same proble on some body "canon 6d" 1.But with micro adjustments work ok on mark II and no ajustment work ok with mark III 2.But with canon 6d you can have sharp and focused image with live view focus :D
Why was the white balance on the Canon and the Nikon cameras turned down to cool?
Hi, How are SONY's color science compared to Nikon's?
Awesome video!!
I agree with you. Having the Sony A7iii i get a lot more sharp images b/c of the Eye-AF or Face. If i don't get the box from Eye-AF at least it shows the box around the face. It's pretty darn accurate. I switched over from Canon back in January.
It's really like a different game with the Sony. The biggest change I've seen in photography since film to digital.
Great comparison video guys!
Thank you!
Beautiful photography, video, and comparison.
Thank you!
Its 2020 Just stopping by to keep an eye out for your next video why we are switching to canon for the R5 and RF Lenses haha
Great camera... I use native lenses and A-Mount lenses via adapter (Eye Focus available with Sony LA-EA3 adapter)! Great camera for photos and video...
Awesome job. On the fence about going Sony as well. New sub!!
I don't think you'll regret it. It's not a perfect system, but is certainly much closer than any DSLR we've ever used.
Great video guys!
Do you really think the 5D Mark IV has any problem with sharpness or AF? This video is ridiculous...
i like the stile when shuting with a7III always form hands :D
I got a lot of gifts from various people lately. Among those gifts, I have received 2 iPhone X from two of my closest people. I wish they had put their cash on A7iii lol because I still use iPhone 5s and a large Android piece, I'm happy.
Wow, so what did you do before you guys all switched to Sony? Those 15 year with Canon and Nikon must have been a nightmare.
Lol nice question
The music in the background is too loud
Stop making shit videos like this and lie to consumers.
why are you so hurt lol
Laeica wezlar truths probably hurt you lol
I wouldn't say that their color science sucks - they are just a little different. Sony cameras are very good now in the third generation... Plus, when shooting raw, you can add your own profile to match the files as you so desire.
Nice catch man :D
I’ve switched from canon a year ago !
I don't have a Sony a7 mark 3 but I love your review
I'd like to see this using continuous AF and having the subject moving.
Amazing Sony advert. No down sides to the Sony A7iii? I use the Nikon d750 which is a real work horse of a camera. I worry with the Sony how durable it is over time. Will it be reliable enough at events etc.
Simon Finch I am a Canon user but very impressed with the AF of Nikon D750.
Well done guys ;)
wisdom comes with the years🤟😉🤟
amazing video
Why don't you use D850 for this test?
Hi, I own a Sony a7111 and I agree that it is a very good camera but I also own a Nikon D5 and a D 500 both of which in low light conditions I would trust more than the Sony to get accurate focus. The D5 was a huge improvement over the D4s when it comes to focusing but then again it should be as it’s much newer. I’m not knocking the Sony as I have stated I’ve got one and yes the eye focus is very good but I think you’ve gone a bit overboard with the praise.
Turn on focal highlighting, you can see exactly where it is focusing at all times.
Great video great production felt a bit like an ad though .
Bob Bob I think it says it all. If you can't get a picture properly focused with a D4....
justlovethisgame well said, they might got a free camera from sony to do this review and criticize canon and nikon so that we can sell our gears and buy sony that take sharp eye focus images zombies in yellow and green tinge
It is hard to believe that the D4s can not get more pictures in focus, did you take into account the skills of the photographer in the comparison?
Third party lenses are notorious for back=focusing at times.
Sick shitty photographer ...
well theres no point in denying what is clear. I have used the Nikon D7000, D700, D80 etc, while I love em for landscape stuff, the AF accuracy was not up to par! The earlier Sony Mark 1 was slow and a bit inaccurate sometimes, but the Mark 3 was just flawless 😋👍
Please don't kid yourself, back in the day Nikon togs must use AF-C or large enough DOF, but some of them maybe is lucky. the point is getting that flawless shot is very easy with the Mark 3 Sony.
Yep switched from Nikon to Sony for my wildlife photography last year a no brainer for me but a bit of a hit in the wallet!
For focus, Fast and video.. No doubt.. Sony is Best.. But for still with natural colors.. I love Canon 5d series
True same here
Sign of the times. This happened with film va digital. We are talking adapted lenses! That just should not be! Very emotional video, I hear you guys.
Appreciate the comment!
Interesting to see that around 4:45 the Sony picture is better posed and better framed... Sony is definitely best 😆
Quality content! I just picked up the A7III and I love the thing. I upgraded from the 80d and it blows it out of the water.
I'm on the fence about going to Sony from the 80d. What's the biggest difference and anything you miss? What lens did you get?
go with 55 1.8 and 28 2.0 or 85 1.8. good luck
$4000 for camera and lenses. Why would I do that when I'm already producing great pictures. Sounds like pixel peepers are getting drained.
Yashica Electro GN - first camera
Canon AE-1- the one still use today
Canon EOS 630 - AF
Mamiya C33 - med.format
Canon 600D - video
Canon 80D - DPAF and touch screen
I still have all these cameras. They are either years apart, do different things or have made jumps in tech. Not just got a little better.
It is 4 times the price so it should do lol
The Missing Link's Younger Brother Destroys the EOS R too lol
Sound like a advertising promoting sony!
Rodrigo dont try indid it. Sold a73 came back to canon. Sony will make u lazy and their color sucks
Nikon, you see what you did?, I saw this happening a couple years ago.
Yeah, good automatic camera...
buy cant beat the d750
The only bad thing with the sony is that its sharp to the point where it shows all the flaws of the skin 😂 the part is when a client see’s it 😂
YassoufWantsToFilm. This is true! This is why the A7III is better for portraits instead of the A7RIII 😂
I had that once when a guy said I had made him look ugly, I said I would soften the image but if I go too far he'll look like Odo from Star Trek. He then said it looked like I had given him a shave so I replaced his face with Odo from Star Trek!
Hahahahahah yeaa😂
Killer Video. Amazing Production!!! Just got the A7riii at work and i'm already debating selling off all my Nikon equipment for the A7iii for myself.
Andrew Van Overbeke, i suggest you wait for nikon full frame mirorless before you decide your next move.
Did he wait? Ha ha! I dumped my Canon bodies back in July, fully Sony'd up now and couldn't be happier.
that wouldn't be necessary haha
@ i dont know, i dont use nikon, i use canon 1dxii. LOL
guys if Sony A7iii and A7Riii are both $2000 which one would you choose?
I'm a Sony a7iii owner just got it last week, and this is horribly biased.
most sony reviews like this say the autofocus is the best on the sony so maybe you don't have it set to the eye but to the face.
Hey thanks!
Very bad
I have no idea how you can get so many
shots with a D4S and 85 1.4 under such weather.
To be honest. I don’t see how I can not buy this a7iii. For video - it does everything.
The test is a bit flawed, there was more sky in the shot for the Canon and Nikon pictures so they would be underexposed.
this video is hilarious.
weareyesyesyes Yeah you’re right, it’s a joke
Cool Color tone on the Canon? Wait a minute!!
Same query. I cant beleive Canon have cool color tone.
@@goctoi1234567 I shoot 5d4 primarily and am looking at a a7iii. Have a Sony a6500 and have looked at Sony a7 mark ii. The mark ii shots look cooler. The tests out of the mark iii look like they have greatly reduced noise and improved color.
This video simply show the beginning of the end of dslrs
3:55 bwahahaha! Vgrip? whats the use?
Great comedy channel.
Why is the Sony so much closer to the subject than the Nikon and Canon? That will give an advantage to focus and sharpness. I don't disagree with the video, but that is a fact.
$4000 for camera and lenses. Why would I do that when I'm already producing great pictures. Sounds like pixel peepers are getting drained.
Yashica Electro GN - first camera
Canon AE-1- the one still use today
Canon EOS 630 - AF
Mamiya C33 - med.format
Canon 600D - video
Canon 80D - DPAF and touch screen
I still have all these cameras. They are either years apart, do different things or have made jumps in tech. Not just got a little better.
Why are you lying in the ground
last time I checked Sony A7 III had a tiltable screen
THANKS
Are you actually telling me the 5D Mark IV has a problem with sharpness and AF? This video is ridiculous...
Agreed.
Agreed paid by sony
@@anoophcl You just don't seem to understand the fact that Canon's 5D4 is outdated and its sensor is not even in DXOMark's top 25 anymore, well there's not one Canon in the top 25. Even the AF in many (much cheaper) camera's is way better. Dream on!
I could go on about a bad workman blaming his tools but you obviously don't buy into that theory, would also say I thought by your title you were a photojournalist but it's clear your a wedding photographer.
I wish more RUclips channels would learn how to mix audio, I presume you don't do wedding videos. 😏
I actually switched from Sony to Nikon and then Canon, but it definitely wasn't because they were "superior" cameras. They just checked more boxes for what I do currently. Also Canon color is overrated in my opinion.
plus sony had sensor stabilization and silent shooting. selling my 5Dsr. got a Sony a7rIII
How do you like it color wisd
It all just boils down to choosing the right the gear that works for us.
Steve Tekguy, people should have dslr and mirorless side by side to see which one is better in real world just like you did. Cheers..
Laeica wezlar I’m very unhappy about the Nikon :-( crazy, I think the canon looks a little better, but no match for the Sony
Who are the guys running Canon and nikon they handed over the mirror less market to Sony
I have a 1dxii and a A7riii my canon lenses work far better on my 1dxii. Shooting with my 1dxii is also more enjoyable and accurate. The resolution is great on a7riii the noise at higher iso is not. My 1dxii files are much more pleasant overall. Sony has more detail but also double the resolution.
schumif1champ kindly chk your old pics from canon . Specially portraits and u will find sony skin tones sucks
The Nikon D4s is the best camera ever....smh...😱😲😵😮💔
What u guys did wrong???
I use a Nikon D750 and I can barely remember having missed focus.. Nikon has one of the best focusing systems.. and then you say a D4s couldn’t focus.. lol
Awesome Video Guys, I like how 3 different people review this camera and were BLOWN away,
Brought to you by Sony! This is such a paid-for-content video, it's comical. Guys, tone it down, you're over selling your client. Hahah!
Not being sarcastic here, but is this video in any way, shape or form sponsored by Sony, directly or indirectly? There was no mention of this.
Nice commercial.
Firstly comparing it to an older, 4 years older, D4s is not a balanced test, take it up against a D850, D750 even a crop D500 and I promise you will not get such bad results, even if your technique is not so great, hold that thought,
here's another point to consider, if the Nikon D4s is not faulty and the lens is not faulty, and you fail to get 9/10 shots in focus...it's not the gear, it's you.
