  • This is a food review of the MSC Seaside cruise ship. The MSC Seaside Food Review features our first voyage ever on MSC Cruises and our 9th cruise line overall. We LOVE food and before boarding the ship we read a LOT of negative reviews specifically about the food on MSC Cruises. So just how good (or bad) is the food on the MSC Seaside really? Our food review just might surprise you. Use the Chapters to jump to specific restaurants and meals.

    MY God, I have to applaud your absolute work on editting these videos, With photos OF the food and the menu. You know the Audience is primarly here for the food, so you make it very easy to visualize and understand. Great Work, I hope all your hard work and attention to details pays off because these videos are great.

    My wife and I just disembarked the Seaside last Sunday. As far as the MDR food we couldn’t agree with you more. The only thing that we disliked about the MDR is the speed of service. We found ourselves being rushed to make it to the shows. That is the main reason we only made it twice to the MDR on our seven night cruise. You WILL NOT go hungry TRUST ME! There is PLENTY of food to eat and very good throughout the ship.

    I finally got around to watching this Walter. Glad you decided to give this line a chance. I haven't been yet, but was scarred by Ben and David's review a while back. Great job as usual! Will be posting more thoughts on the facebook page.

    Wow! This is a really impressive food review. You just hooked me as a subscriber. We are going on the Seashore soon (our first MSC cruise) and were curious about what to expect. Your attitude is much like ours -- you have to consider the cost you're paying, each cruise line is going to be different, and it's up to you to make the best of your cruise. Thanks for the great review!

      Wow back atcha, thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so glad this review was helpful. I try to present balanced food reviews because everyone's taste is different. I don't expect all meals to be perfect but when things aren't perfect they are not going to ruin my experience. We will be on the Seashore December 10 to try out the 'new and improved' Seaside experience. Have an amazing cruise!!!

    I am a new subscriber. A fantastic blend of seriousness, humor, and details of the food. This was a perfect food review. Especially your straight-faced, fun remarks and good humor that made us laugh even more. You weren't even that harsh when it came to the less favorable food reviews. Thank you both. best regards from Newfoundland, Canada.

      Wow, you are too kind. I love food, I mean I LOVE food but after cruising for 20 years you know that everything isn't going to be perfect. And if it isn't there's probably 20 other things I can eat right now. It has to be really REALLY bad for me to complain. :) I really appreciate the kind words and thank you so much for subscribing. I hope you enjoy the other food reviews too!

    I love the food review videos! I think if I lived in a port city for MSC, I would be way more likely to jump on the ship as a quick getaway. I am shocked he said the MDR is better than RCL and NCL. I have only ever eaten the MDR on the Breakaway plus ships on Norwegian and they have the 4 dining rooms, that function more like "included" specialty dining, and they were INCREDIBLE!

    • @WheresWalterTravel
      @WheresWalterTravel  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much for the kind words. We've eaten in the MDR on the Getaway and Escape for NCL, both were bland and meh. I mean we didn't starve, but there was nothing to be excited about. The specialty dining on both ships was just amazeballs.
      We've done the MDR on Symphony, Mariner and Freedom OTS. The MDR was ok, nothing to be excited about again. Princess & Celebrity have had the best and most consistent MDRs for us across the 9 ships we 've sailed with them.
      That first meal in the MDR on the Seaside was top notch. There were 5 tables around us that first night and were all talking about the prime rib. None of us expected it to be what it was. That second meal, my favorite part was the faces my server was giving me as I asked about the menu. She was AWESOME! :)
      But as we say, food is subjective. Thanks so much for watching!

    I just got off the cruise. The ship was great except for the smell on deck 7 and parts of 16. I think it smelled like rotten onions but worse.
    The crew were amazing
    The food sucked.
    The buffet on deck 7 was bland and not a lot of options
    Thank God for the bread
    We did sit down dinner
    It made me sick every night
    The last night all I could stomach was the ceaser salad and bread
    I didn't know anyone could mess up spaghetti or Mac n cheese
    I was not the only one complaining
    Everyone was.
    The best thing I ate was a hamburger from a food truck on the island.

    Good vid, I appreciate that you are fully honest. It looks 'alright'--it looks almost like a 'carnival alternative', and similarly it is at a lower price point, and this can be seen in the 'included' meals. If someone is willing to spend a bit more, the specialty restaurants and chocolate place look good.
    A consistency I notice in various vids is that their plating in the mdr is some of the least-appealing that I've seen (eg the overcooked broccolli).
    I'm not sure if they have a really good variety (change) in the buffet from night to night. We just did 10 nights on Caribbean Princess, and the buffet choices were really strong, as was the change in buffet from night to night. And of course Princess has a burger/dog place and a pizza place to take some of the crowd out of the lido (fwiw, Princess' burger place is not quite as good as Dive-in or Guy's, but at least it still helps spread out the crowd).
    MSC could learn a thing or two wrt to having separate food areas to spread out the crowd a bit. It all looks alright, but hal/princess/celebrity are our brands of choice at the moment (we like ncl too, but seems like it's been 4+ years since the timing/port/logistics have worked for us).

    • @WheresWalterTravel
      @WheresWalterTravel  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much for the kind words. I think if you go into MSC with an open mind and honestly compare what you're getting for what you're paying, it's a great value. We put the overall cruise experience at a 7 but the value of MSC at 8.5. For what you're paying, its' a tremendous value.
      Sky Princess hands down had the best buffet I've ever seen, you can see it in my Sky Princess food review. Celebrity and Holland America have great buffets too. What was good on the MSC buffet was really good. Like that mozzarella was amazing, like really good amazing. Some of their salad items like the artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes, the best I've ever seen. The pizza was great, Princess and Virgin Voyages were better, but the pizza was great.
      Ocean Cay is a fabulous island and now my favorite, even moreso than CocoCay. I'll have a full ship review coming as soon as I can edit it. Our travel agency has literally blown up so I don't have the time to edit like I used to. :) But again, thank you so much for the kind words!

    I'm just starting to watch. I've watched and read a ton about msc, but have not sailed them. The consensus is that if you're on a budget, it is definitely worth checking them out. Of the 3 dining times, the first and third are way too early/late for my tastes. I'm curious to see more of your take so will keep watching...

    • @WheresWalterTravel
      @WheresWalterTravel  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much for watching. MSC comes in cheaper than Carnival in many cases and you can get into the Yacht Club for the price of a Royal Caribbean balcony. If you have an open mind and accept MSC for what it is, you will have a fabulous time. I'll have a full ship review as soon as I can get it edited. :)

  • @CarlosCruz-ll5ez
    @CarlosCruz-ll5ez 9 месяцев назад +1

    I have been on Royal Caribbean Celebrity NLC and on Carnival but for my food experience and on the contrary the MSC seaside main dining food is the worst of all of the other ships!

    • @WheresWalterTravel
      @WheresWalterTravel  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for sharing your experience. We had the opposite with lackluster MDRs on Carnival Mardi Gras, Symphony OTS, Mariner OTS, Freedom OTS, NCL Getaway and NCL Escape. The Seaside MDR on our sailing was much better and the buffet didn't have as much variety as Royal, but what was there was quite good. That being said, the new Carnival MDR menus are getting great reviews so we're definitely going to get back on a Carnival ship soon to try out the new dishes!

    How is the food on this ship and overall experience compared to the Mardi Gras?

    • @WheresWalterTravel
      @WheresWalterTravel  6 месяцев назад +1

      I preferred the Mardi Gras honestly. The Seaside Buffet was better and the MDR was better than the Mardi Gras before the new menus rolled out. But with so many food options like Shaq's Chicken, Blue Iguana, Guy's Burgers, Street Eats, Pizza, Paninis and more, there's much more included variety on Mardi Gras
