I have an MRI scheduled in 2 days on my left knee. Was really worried what it would be like. This video helped me tremendously. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you for all you do.
@@sohanasamrin I had mine I can tell you, mine took literally 10-15 minutes and it is nothing to worry about. you don’t feel a thing, they gave me earphones and I got to listen to music so please don’t stress 🙏
I had a mri done today I was scared to get an mri but it wasn’t that bad they let me listen to music while getting the mri done dont listen about getting an mri
I had my first MRI scan today (knee). I'm claustrophobic and prone to panic attacks and anxiety but it was actually great! The tunnel was lit, my head was out since it's only the knee that's scanned, headphones protected from the intense sound and overall it was quite a nice meditation. Hope this helps for anyone who's worried about their MRI! It's really not that bad!
i have my appointment in 2 days i’m worried about it for this exact reason. i hope i can overcome it easily like you did, this def made me feel alot better 😅😅
Thank goodness it’s feet first! I was so worried I’d have to go into a full tunnel head first even though it’s my knee that needs scanning. Had a brain scan before and had a panic attack because I felt so claustrophobic. Phew! Not nervous any more for my knee scan
Thank you so much! this was extremely helpful in knowing what its going to be like. Defiantly a sampling of the sounds were really helpful in knowing what to expect, also seeing that my head wouldn't be inside was a relief
Thank you for this...I had an MRI 4 years ago on my hip but it was in an open MRI machine, now they've gotten rid of it, don't know why, but I have to go today to get one on my knee, I hope the one one they replaced it with is like this one...
I have minor fracture in right knee...doctor adviced for mri after 15 days.. i am gonna have mri of right knee in 6 days .. was worried what its gonna be like...now i am relaxed...thank you so much for the video
We have ear plugs and head sets with music both available at the time of scan if you would like them. You have to have one or the other for hearing protection.
Im gonna get an MRI soon I was really scared but it helped me a bit after watching this video the only thing I'm still scared about is when I have to scratch my leg😰
Nothing to worry about at all. It's a loud machine but apart from that it's harmless. What I didn't know previously is that if you are getting a knee mri you don't go all the way in to the machine so your head is outside.
Thanks for the response. I am glad that it was a good experience for you. Yes some scans your head is not in the bore at all and others are. Totally dependent upon what is being done and how tall you are.
The time I did it I didn't get any music. Can you bring a CD for them to play through the headphones? I had on headphones, but still heard the loud grinding sound.
There are a few things that we can do for anxiety. One is we can take it slow and talk with you about the scan. We can talk to you in between sequences and see how you are doing. You are given a panic button that you can squeeze any time to alert the Technologist doing your scan. You can also take a mild sedative that you can get from your Doctor or if you need the appointment can be done under conscious sedation, where a nurse anesthetist will give you IV sedation to make you comfortable while scanning. You will be given headsets and allowed to choose your music prior to the scan so that will help with the noise and you can always ask for ear plugs along with the headsets. We have both available for you.
Does the music/ headphones make the crazy sounds not as bad and loud or is the sound you showed the same volume that the person will hear when the headphones are on and they are getting scanned?
They forgot to tell if a person has to remove jewelry or other items. Since it’s magnetic. Just wondering. I have a torn meniscus I will be needing an MRI on my knee next month. Thanks for the helpful video tho.
Thanks for your question. Most jewelry will need to be removed, especially if it is in the area being scanned. Most wedding rings are safe because they are made out of non magnetic metals like silver and gold, or white gold. We would have you remove them if we were doing that hand however. Hair clips, bobby pins, hair extensions if magnetic metal, and such items would have to be removed. Before we take you into the scanning room we do an in-depth consent about things that might be contraindicated.
Pls like this comment to get it on the top of the comments for everyone to read coz its important. I suggest you get used to that knee position first before getting an mri. I normally rest my knee when lying down elevated and a little sidewards(45°) but during mri you need to position it elevated and 90° straight. Mine failed 2 times today coz my knee was not comfortable to that position. It gets stiff after 5 minutes and started twitching and shaking. They told me that I will have to pay again after the 3rd try coz the time it will take for the exam was not enough anymore and theres the next patient scheduled already. I didnt try the 3rd time coz I know I really cant do it. Good thing I get a refund. They suggested too that I take the exam while sleeping but it cost double the price, its ridiculous. I will take the exam again next month after getting comfortable on that knee position.
I have to get a MRI on my Right Knee in New Jersey and I do not want my whole Body going into the machine please help me to understand what will happen if I decide to try this please

@sirenblue5356 Did they put you to sleep when you got the scan done or were you up the whole time?
I had an MRI scan on my head 5 years ago. I hate how loud the MRI is but I understand that the machine was taking pictures.
Thanks for this! My husband went in for an MRI and this was wonderful to show our son what was happening.
I have my MRIs on both knees on Aug 11th at the Hampton VA Medical Health Center and this helped me understand what to expect

Im gonna have an mri on my right knee tomorrow. And im getting anxious about what its gonna be when i get there. Im claustrophobic. This helps a lot.
How was your experience?
Any suggestions?
Being that already have GAD and prone to panic attacks - Dr. prescribed a sedative (much stronger than xanax) and no issue at all.
I would like to link the sounds to what is occurring during the test.
Thank you for posting this. I'm very anxious about my mri and this helps a lot!
i have an MRI for my left knee tomorrow morning and i was really scared but this makes it seem okay!
Did this patient receive any dye? Is it really needed to have dye for a wrist mri?
Getting an MRI on my right knee October 25th, now I know to bring ear plugs when I go.

I'm extremely claustaphobic. Even this will be difficult. But doable.
How do you do it with a person who starts to panic when real close to a machine? I can't stand the sound of a ct scan more less one of these.

Can't I just link my Spotify playlist?
Yes! We have spotify now and you can most certainly do this as long as your list is not private and you have allowed it.

Hi, how do you know if you have a torn meniscus? What do you feel?
If you’re having an mri of the thigh are you pushed into the machine more??
Yes
Is that a newer machine... because that doesn't ease my fears. I don't understand why you have to go in so far for a knee scan.
I'm having my knee scan but I don't like small spaces so I'm scared if my full body go in I'm not doing it
I'm literally getting an mri in an hour and ie been worried about it all week.
I am about to go do one and I am a nervous wreck (March 17.2023)

I am so sorry. For some they feel exactly that and others they are able to relax and sleep through it. I hope your next experience is better.

Good to know as i'm getting my left knee done soon.
It took 1 hour to scan my knee and they didn't put any headphones on and my leg was freezing ....the noise I was afraid of the noise the mri makes
Nothing was mentioned about any pieces of jewellery, should we presume it's safe as not all the body went through, please?
I know it's late, it's not safe is what I got from other videos
