I was bullied and I think "get over it" is not the right phrase. I think "Let it go" is a better phrase. Letting go of resentment is necessary. Resentment is a poison that destroys its own vessel.

As one who got picked on a lot during my formal education, it hurts. I also had to go through it at school alone. When I entered the 3rd grade, my siblings were either in middle school or high school. Oh, my parents knew I was being picked on and did their best. They couldn't be with me during class of course, but they did what they could with what I told them. When I entered high school, I had one effective method of defense. Walk away quickly. I'm not asking for sympathy or anything like that. You can either let what happened eat at you or you can let go. Will letting go undo what happened? Of course not. However, it will lighten your emotional baggage.
