Quite surprised no one’s talking about this beautiful part. Normally composers will go back to A(I chord), instead, Mollá brilliantly proceeds to add D(IV, consequently making D/A chord)for the base, evoking such a grandiose sensation.

Being a trumpet student of the Chicago school, and having the opportunity to learn from members of the CSO (including Bud) and hearing the CSO with Bud dozens of times, I've held his former seat with the highest regard and who sits in it. Ridenour was my favorite to occupy the seat since Bud, but I'm glad we found a permanent and deserving player like Esteban. He plays with life, vigor and power, much like Bud did. I look forward to see his growth with the CSO as it evolves into the next generation of players.

I am (musically) in love with Esteban Batallan. His dynamics and tone make me swoon. I heard him play the "Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra" by Alexander Arutiunian and "Mr. Batallan" by Arturo Sandoval last night. I loved the first piece. The second piece touched and comforted me so much that I felt like I was floating. That's some kind of power. Loving his performances last night so much led me to other videos of his performances, including this one. I'm so grateful to him for all his training, intelligence, heart, and skill!

I absolutely love the theme of friendship and your approach of telling the story of the friendship as an AI recreation of the deceased friend! The playing and writing are brilliant, but having innovation be the theme of the story, I kept catching myself trying to figure out what was a recreated memory and what was the friend actually experiencing. There is a depth to the dreams/memories that have been the subject of many other works, but there's a nuance of both fidelity of the memory's recreation and the juxtaposition with the surviving friend's experience. Truly remarkable - bravo sir!
