  • After owning the GS White Birch (SLGH005) for a few months, I wanted to do a review to cover some of things I think you should know before buying this amazing watch.

    Great work, Toran. This is a far superior watch to the Snowflake in most every respect. Of course, it's in a very different price category as well. I think the White Birch is amazing, and serves much better as the flagship of GS. I hope to add a hi-beat GS at some point to compliment my spring drive and 9F85. Great review, my friend!

    Toran - It's apparent how much work you put into preparing this video, and I think it's your best yet. Great macro shots and production quality. Lookin' sharp, keep up the good work!

      Thanks for the feedback Bill 👍. Indeed I had to take a lot of time filming the macro video for this review.

    A good follow up to some earlier impressions of this timepiece. I opted for the other 9SA5 offering in 44GS case and everbrilliant steel to see what the buzz is about but I honestly can’t discern the difference in metal brightness. Movement finishing is very high and I would say approaches JLC levels in some places such as anglage on bridges, but a little too consistently done as if by machine…feel free to comment especially on this point as I am no WIS and more likely just minus the W and the S. Love the case design notes on your SLGH005 and definitely look forward to you sharing the long term experience in a few years.

    Just got this watch... it's on par with my (now) $50,000 Rolex Submariner gold / blue dial... I can't believe what a good value it is as $9100..

    That macro bro! Super high production quality really showcases that gorgeous movement. I'd love to hear about how well it's keeping time on your grapher but you can't argue with that dial and finish.

    Ive had both snowflake ans this and i have to say the white birch is nicer. 2 things that id say are better on the snowflake are the capped seconds hand(just looks smoother) and the bracelet width. The white birch needs to fix that bracelet tapper. I got a custom aligator leather strap and oem gs clasp. Shouldve come like that from factory -_-

    Great review..I love my White Birch and have thought about putting it on a blue strap. So seeing your review has given me the go ahead to do it. Can you tell me which brand the strap at 7.35 is in the review. I prefer it to the blue suede. Do you have a buckle or a clasp?

    • @EverydayWatchGuy
      @EverydayWatchGuy  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback. The strap is from a Momentum Flatline watch (Canadian watch brand) on a normal pin buckle. Cheers

    Great review and beautiful watch. I had a chance to handle on and it is really nice. I've already heard a couple reports of really poor timekeeing - how has your experience been?

      I took this leather strap off an old Momentum Flatline watch. I think Momentum might still sell these straps on their website.

    What is the real accuracy on this watch? Not whatever Grand Seiko is promising you. Thank you

      Thank you

    • @EverydayWatchGuy
      @EverydayWatchGuy  2 года назад

      @@petropasternak7087 I haven't noticed much of a drop in accuracy when the movement is low on power reserve. Though there is no power reserve indicator on this watch to know for certain

      I see.
      The reason why I am asking, I've seen the other video and the guy was telling that his watch losing around 12 sec on third day. And before that, I saw the presentation of this moving from the Grand Seiko, and they were telling about about special balancing the spring, so it keeps the time to all way to the end.
      Don't get me wrong I love Grand Seiko and I own the Spring Drive diver, and accuracy is very important to me, so I am little bit disappointed about this moment.
      I want to buy it but I don't like the white birch it doesn't appeal to me. I'm waiting for them to fix this moment and create something with champagne dial.
      Also the guy was mentioning about his crown was wobbling. is it the same case for you too?
      But anyway, thank you very much for you answer

    I would not complain if the movement description above 6 o’clock was left off the face. It’s unnecessary & simplicity would be enhanced.
