- The choir rehearses with phenomenal clinician Dr. Sandra Snow. David L. Brunner (the composer) was in the room and shared his inspiration for the piece and gave the students additional insight and direction. He wrote the full orchestration for this specific performance and this was the first time it had been performed for him. The orchestra is from the University of Texas at Austin. This piece is so moving.
11 years ago?! Wow.
My thoughts exactly. I remember this workshop so vividly.
20 years ago this was me -- 1986-87, first chair Tenor 2 from Big D--hell yeah!! I still have the live concert recordings (originally on cassette, LOL) and listen to them religously---one of the best choral sounds ever created by a group young, old, or otherwise. Thank you, God, for this!!
my brother made all state mixed choir
3 chair tenor 1 in region 23....im so proud.... yay!!!
my favorite song. tears were streaming down through it all :(
@BroChevin I agree, and even so the orchestra is amazing to listen to as well.
This is the best one on youtube, I wish my choir would have been this talented when doing it.
I got to sing this on stage in Carnage Hall in 07' with Dr Brunner. But you guys are excellent.
This is so amazing!!!
I miss this so much
when i went to see y'all's concert, this was my favorite song!
obviously put a lot of work into it...it paid off!
i love the text for this song... it was just so beautifully written!!
getting to work with the composer was awe-inspiring. i want to relive all those moments... over and over... :)
this was my favorite song to sing! i loved singing it with the allstate choir!! wooo!
great job i love the orchestra playing with them.
We did this in PA too! 2009 region V!
The Boston Gay Men's Chorus performed this in March 2009. It was stunning.
I think it was the placement of the camera. i've got another version with just piano i'll post as well.
@Synthrada I was there in Holidaysburg too :) amazing piece
holy CRAP this is AMAZING!
the bigger the state the more people u gotta beat to get to the top
no doubt
the choir is impecable :)
yay
does anyone know if any concert footage was taken during the 2010 all-state concerts?
oops!!!!
he told me 3rd chair tenor 2.....lolz
The orchestra is too overpowering. I can barely hear the singers.
Wonderful voices, but the song selection is horrible in my opinion. The past 2 years were so much more entertaining/enjoyable/choral. This piece and the hard times peace are the only two worth singing i think. The others were just not up to par
